suffocating

Suffocating,

She couldn't breathe. How could she live up to the expectation of her mother?
How could she define herself when her parents were taking too much of a space?
She wanted to breathe, she needed to breathe
But she didn't know how to. She forgot how to.
Constant disappointment, it seemed that was written on her face,
To the point that wherever she was, whatever she did, it never was enough.
She simply wasn't enough.

No matter the success, no matter the compliments,
It never was enough for them, she never was enough for them.
But why was she obsessed with having their approval? Why was she seeking for their attention?
It probably was because they were her parents.
Like any good kid, she wanted them to love her and be proud of her.
Talk about chasing the moon, she would never get it.
No, of course not. Why would she?

She wasn't as pretty as her mother would want her to be
She wasn't as slim as her parents wanted her to be,
she wasn't as smart as both of them dreamed of her to be,
and she wasn't a sheep... she wasn't docile and submissive. She was struggling way too much
She WAS TOO MUCH.. and yet she was nothing.

They loved her, for sure, but they sure loved themselves more than their kid.

How could she live? How could she breathe?
