Windora trivia: Death

Death đź’€ : Lux died once. She had to become a vampire. She doesn't remember a lot of what led her to willingly choose death, but she remembers her despair and the sensation of being trapped in a situation that was worse than death. She embraced vampiredom with grace and thought nothing of immortality for centuries. Yet, after 1000 years as a vampire, it started to wear her down. Everything became meaningless; her life felt meaningless. Then she fell in love with Paolo, her Italian sculptor in the Renaissance. She felt alive again, and she tried to live the moment to its fullest, given his fragile nature as a human. His death devastated her to the point that she tried to step into the sun and was saved by her Sire and "sibling".  She recovered from her heartbreak and returned to her life, thinking that it was meaningless to live for this long for basically no purpose. Since meeting Jake, however, Lust wants to die. She wants to experience life with him, give it meaning, and then die afterwards when he's old and about to die. She wants him to become her last. But at the same time, she's also not ready to die and would fight for her life. It's complicated with her. complicated.

headcanon: Death

B: Bäahal doesn’t want to die anymore. At the beginning of the Long Night, she wanted to die an honorable death and was ready to die for her sister. Her encounter with Jaime changed the way she perceived death. She grew out of her death-seeking wish and became more and more grounded. She fell in love with Jaime and now doesn’t want to die or to let him die. She’s been traumatized by Death. (her mother, Viserion, etc..) and she doesn’t want to lose anyone else.

M! Witch: She is a healer. Despite the traumas, she had to face (most likely the slaughter of her family, and the death of her coven), Mary wants to heal others. Her immortality actually changed her perspective on life and death. Life is even more precious to her, and she would do her best to protect the living and honor the dead. She doesn’t want Klaus to die, perhaps even more than she expected to feel. Klaus is her kin, and she would fight for him.

M: Mary doesn’t want to die. She doesn’t want any of the people she loves, to die. She isn’t a suicidal character. However, people around her tend to die and she’s very worried about it. She lost her child at birth; she lost her husband to murder, and she doesn’t want to lose Tommy (and the rest of his family). John’s death truly hurt her, and she hasn’t recovered from it just yet.

modern Bäahal never wanted to die. however, she sometimes felt she shouldn't have existed because her life caused trouble. (she is changing that way of thinking thanks to both Jaime and Kyra)

V: Viserys was a daredevil. He’d usually try to live an extreme life, walking a fine line between life and death. He wanted to numb his pain but indulged in very extreme activities. The death of his mother, father, and brother did a number on him and he doesn’t want to lose anyone else. Since meeting Kyra, he’s trying to sober up and stop actively trying to kill himself with his dangerous lifestyle.

GoT (regular) : Hypothetical future (the bad one)

GoT (regular) : Hypothetical future (the bad one)

A/N : I would not want these two to be denied. I would not be able to stand it but this is mostly how I imagine things to be if Dany rejects them. Theme song : https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-vwBf9he8lY

xxxxxx

Two decades into a future where Dany denied her sister her union with Jaime Lannister.

Brienne of Tarth was looking for the silver princess at the spots she was known to visit. After two decades at the service of the people, princess Bäahal had decided to stay at King's Landing. Through one of her journeys, she'd suffered a bad fall, which forced her to walk with a cane and stop horse-riding altogether. With no possibility to escape the walls of the Red Keep, the princess was forced to find a way to make herself useful, devoting herself to helping those in need. She made sure to be at her sister's service, accepting any request but one: To get married. After Daenerys made it clear that she didn't bless her union to Jaime Lannister, the pair were often separated unless the princess needed protection. They managed to lure out the conspirators and judge them openly, sentencing them for their High Treason against the crown. Jaime got to ensure the princess' protection but only at a distance. They were allowed to talk to each other, even share a lunch or have dinner together but that was the most they could do.

Soon after it was asked for Bäahal to not pursue any romantic relationship to the knight, she started to wear red whenever he was around, finding ways to let him know that her feelings for him did not die and he made sure to let her know through their personal code, that he was still loving her and protecting him however he could. They became star-crossed lovers, forever forced to love the other from afar, forever unable to touch each other in ways no other could. Bäahal promised Kyra she would protect the family and she kept her word, ensuring the safety of the knight and making sure nobody could suspect, they loved each other. Yet, to each other, their commitment became only more intense and they found new ways to care for the other. It simply became something that couldn't be said. Bäahal remained beautiful, a sight to behold, but her face was sad and she grew quiet over the years whenever she wasn't required to speak. Daenerys married Jon Targaryen, privately first before it became public, much to the old noble's rejection of such union. So she was focused on them and the people, forgetting as time went by that the decision she took that day would seal the fate of two souls.

Jaime illustrated himself over the years, earning the respect of the Royal family. He was a brilliant Knight, a cunning chief of the Lannister army and he led many battles in the name of the Queen. His story was known by the people, even the ever sordid secret of his oathbreaking. Bäahal promised she would at least let people know what he sacrificed for them, even if that didn't rehabilitate him fully, at least they knew what he did. Brienne couldn't find the princess who was not in her usual spots. She wasn't walking at the beautiful garden of the Red Keep nor was she watching the dragons at their den's. She simply was in the kitchen, making her own soup much to the surprise of the housemaids who watched her do.

Brienne went to find the Queen to deliver the bad news, her face pale as a ghost as she related the events she'd just witnessed. Tyrion fell apart at that moment, although he kept his dignity and simply asked permission to retire to the garden for a moment. Daenerys realized she needed to see Bäahal and asked about her whereabouts. When it was said that the princess was cutting potatoes for her soup, the queen decided to find her. Bäahal, as always careful, was taking her time preparing her lunch as she sometimes liked to do. She found that it was relaxing to do things by herself, like when she was still a kid and her mother was teaching her how to cook, prior to being abducted again. The room quickly cleared and she recognized the footsteps of her sister.

« You found me, Dany. I thought you would be busy with your counsel. »

« I had to see you. Brienne of Tarth just came back and... » She stopped talking to look at her as she was still cutting her potatoes quietly.

« To have you rush into the kitchen and have the room cleared...I guess the news is important. » -She said, her voice still calm although the hand holding the knife was still trembling-

« Bäahal... I guess this is too late to say that I am... »

« He was a good man, you know, Dany? » She started out with a soft voice. Still cutting her vegetable- « I have seen it from the moment we met. There was a sparkle in his eyes, something fierce that was telling me that he could be trusted. He had honor... he always had honor, even when he killed our father. I was never mad at him for saving these people. » Her voice let escape a sob that tugged at the queen's heart. « I remember how foolish I was to ever want to die during the long night. I thought that my whole life would only have meaning if I sacrificed it for you. Oh, I was ready to do so, but he told me I could try and live. Have a full life, be happy...he had his own way to make my blood boil but he saved my life on that day. » She then shrugged and looked at her hands. « We saved each other, Dany. We saved each other and I was aware that our love was not wanted in this life. I kept praying that in the next one we'd be happier but this isn't exactly how it works, right? There is no other life but the one we had. » She said still cutting.

Daenerys noticed that she was now cutting the air, traumatized by her own words as she had understood that Jaime had died and Daenerys felt sorry for the way she treated this relationship. The queen couldn't help but let her tears roll down on her cheeks as she listened to her sister talk about her deceased lover. She realized that it wasn't just some puppy love, nor was it meant to disappear as fast as it had appeared. It was real, it was strong and even in a moment like this, when she could have been screaming her heart out and trying to eventually, join him in death, she talked about what he did when he was alive.

« My golden lion was... » -She trailed off before she noticed her hand and said in an unusual tone « Oh, look at me, I'm making a mess! I've been cutting the air. » She then chuckled and that was Daenerys' cue to come closer to her sister as she had put the knife down and had turned around to look at her with tears rolling down her cheeks. « He's gone...Dany...I would never see his face anymore.. he's gone... » Then the tears became streams and the streams became a torrent and she screamed a heart-wrecking scream that tore the heart of the queen. She was sobbing so hard that she clung to her sister. The knight was dead and along with him, a piece of her heart, and all that the queen could do was to witness it all.

Of death

She was exhausted.
She thought she could pull that off, Trying hard at existing so it might happen. It worked for a while, they bought her lies They bought her songs and her dance They bought her laughter, her smiles They bought everything she threw at them She believed everything she tried to fake. Put a little bit of magic, smile broadly Let the meat cleaver beat you to a pulp Exist! Pretend! Exist! Defend your existence Find many reasons to do this charade Find many reasons to wake up too. Maybe him or them or her... anyone. Maybe you. Maybe you too. So she held tight on what she had. But it exhausted her even more. So maybe sleeping was required. Sleeping that eternal slumber. Oh, that was attractive. That was attractive

chronicles of Lux and Tenebrae: Remembering

A snap of his fingers and Tenebrae teleported to the End Realm. He carried his wounded beloved to his chambers. The prince figured out that she would have the best chance to survive if he took her to his place, but truth to be told, Tenebrae was losing his mind over Lux being stabbed. She could have moved away, she should have moved away so he would have been hit instead of her. He was the son of Death, he was the Void, he would have found a way to protect himself from the attacks and survive but she protected him and because she did, she was dying, or so he thought. The princess was still fully conscious as her beloved took her back to his chambers. Her black locks were soaked with her blood, as well as her face because of Tenebrae's bloody hands that kept holding her cheeks and stroking her hair on the battlefield. The scent was nauseating, truly. She was used to fighting, a little bit of blood wasn't a problem but for some reasons, this time it was. Maybe it was because she couldn't heal from her injury since her powers weren't back and she was contemplating dying again. Maybe it was the distraught face of her beloved that turned the situation into a nightmare. Lux was wondering how bad her injury was because of the prince's face. Her silver eyes never quite left his as he was tending to her wound.

« Why did you do it, Lux? Why? »

He couldn't use a spell to heal her. Because she was alive and he was dead, none of the spells he knew actually worked on her. If he tried to cast a healing spell on her, it would have the opposite effect so he didn't even try. The prince was mortified at the idea of losing her again. If she died while Life was still in a coma, she would be dead for good so he cupped Lux' cheek and hoped for her wound to not be critical. She smiled faintly and put her hand above his.

« Because I had to. » She said after she breathed in. « I just had to protect you. » She smiled through the pain before she leaned into the soft pillow. Tenebrae knitted his brows, his face slowly fading and turning into a skull. « I am not going to die, Tenebrae. » -She tried to reassure him but the faint voice of hers didn't work on him.-

« You already died, Lux. I've lost you once. » -His voice boomed, it was altered because he was in his true form. She never feared his true appearance, never shook or shivered when in his presence because it was his real self. It was familiar even though her memory was at fault. It was familiar and she felt safe by his side. She didn't mind the flames on his face and still cupped the cheekbone, her fingers slightly burning because of that divine fire. He leaned into her touch and put his hand on her belly, to keep her steady. « I can't afford to lose you again. » He said, his flames turning even bluer. He was crying, despite the absence of tears, Lux could feel that his soul was already feeling sorrow and fear. Because they were connected, even without her full memory of him, the princess was already very close to him. She could tell the smallest variation of his body language or the tone of his voice. She knew how he felt because he was like an open-book.

When Tenebrae learned the princess had been killed, he felt as if his whole world was crumbling down at his feet. He had lost the very reason that kept him together and anchored him to his life. Lux was the only one to understand the prince and give him the love he so desperately needed. He carried this loss over the centuries spent without her, searching the Earth for her and blaming his father for his loss. When he found her after aimlessly wandering on Earth, he finally pulled himself together. He promised her she would be safe, he promised her she would regain her memory but she had not. They fought the Horsemen of the Apocalypse while she wasn't in full power and without her memories. She managed to handle herself against them but the formidable warrior he once knew was absent on the battlefield. They didn't have the choice because their enemies had started a vicious attack on humans and they had to stop it before all life on Earth was destroyed.

And here he was again, on the verge of losing her, or so it seemed. The prince would have wept if his face wasn't a skull. He was only allowed to watch and wait until eventually, she died but somehow, Hope still resided in his heart and the prince expected for a miracle to happen. He believed she wouldn't die because if she ever did, then what would happen of him? He would certainly lose the last shred of empathy he had, the last shred of love too. He would become an empty shell without his beloved and he didn't want to. A soft smile curled on her face as she stared at him. Her silver eyes glowed brightly against the dim light of the bedroom, but he didn't notice. She was still holding onto his cheekbone, keeping him close to her with a simple touch. His sorrow overwhelmed her, his darkness engulfed her and cradled the goddess as a way to soothe her pain. It was something she had never felt before, mostly because the darkness was soft and warm and comforting. It was something familiar and powerful, something that reminded her of how things were. She gave into the darkness, finding the comfort she needed in such a dire moment and words just naturally flowed.

« I can't regret what I did, Tenebrae. It's just the way I am. » -She began with.- « I only thought of protecting you. » She looked at him. « I would do it again. » She then dropped her hand. He quickly reached out and held onto her soft palm with his.

« This is how I lost you... » -His throat was tight-

« I know...It was a day like no other, peaceful and warm. Mother and I we were taking a walk and she was talking about mankind, her love for them, her duty to protect them. I should have seen it coming, I felt something in the air, something I've never truly known until then. Fear. » She coughed and closed her eyes as tight as she could. « I was afraid, but that fear didn't stop me, love, it didn't. They engaged battle and I fought hard against them, I used everything I got but then, mother was in danger. I jumped and War stabbed me through the heart. This was how I died. »

The prince didn't realize at first that she was talking about her memories. He felt the warmth of her hand becoming more intense and it forced him to look at her.

« What did you just...Lux ?...Do you remember? »

She did remember! She talked about the moments she died. She talked about what happened before the attack. She did remember and somehow his heart was beating faster because that could mean she remembered him. Confused, to the point of not knowing what to do, the prince's skull face vanished and his usually pale skin replaced it. He looked at her, his black orbs coming to life. He saw her divine aura finally returning to its full force but Tenebrae didn't dare move. He put his hand on her belly and noticed that she was finally starting to heal herself. Panic gave place to happiness as the prince's face changed and lightened up. He was smiling at the realization that she was not going to die, she had regained her energy and her memories of what possibly was a trigger event. He started to shake, unable to make a move towards her, unable to touch her. His black orbs just observed the woman and a crooked smile crept on his lips.

He didn't finish his sentence because the front door opened and his father entered his chambers. He had seen the fight unfold from Time's castle and had observed the very reactions of the Eternal. When the horsemen were defeated, it became clear that the God wasn't pleased with that outcome. He turned to Death and asked him why they allowed the daughter of Life and his son to be together and how they learned about the ritual. Death shrugged and simply said that he was estranged from his son for centuries now and didn't even know the daughter of Life had survived the fight, which was true. Time pretended to be annoyed at both the horsemen and the heirs of Life and Death but it was clear that he was more annoyed that the children became the Alpha and Omega and sent the horsemen back to the Vanishing Point. It was Death's definitive clue. Tenebrae looked at his father and held onto Lux' hands tighter.

« We need to get to your mother, Lux. »

Chronicles of Lux and Tenebrae: The End Realm: part 5: Confrontational

A/ N: Finally, Tenebrae feels he has some leverage against his father.

Xxxxx

As soon as they returned to the glass palace, Tenebrae sat with Lux and explained what he said earlier. He told her everything, about the stories his father used to tell him about his old battles and his identity before he was given the crown of the End Realm. Death was one of the four horsemen of the apocalypse. Once Time gave him the opportunity to become more at the condition that he banished the other three, he did. Of course, while telling the story, Death didn't mention the way he vanquished his former allies. He didn't tell Tenebrae that he did so with the help of Life and together they sent the horsemen to the Vanishing Point. Lux didn't get to the same conclusion as Tenebrae.

She didn't see just yet the love between her mother and Death, perhaps because she couldn't remember clearly how her mother was and therefore couldn't remember tiny details about her. Instead, she realized that indeed, the only people who could have hurt her mother and have a grudge against her would be the three remaining Horsemen of the Apocalypse. They were the antithesis of her mother, the end of everything. Life couldn't thrive if the four horsemen of Apocalypse were still around and in order for her to gain power and make sure Life could spring on Earth, they had to be stopped. So, to the princess' point of view, it made sense they went after her mother if they were roaming free.

Both heirs were upset at the new, mostly because Tenebrae realized that fighting and defeating the three horsemen would become a task more difficult than he imagined. They were strong, War, Pestilence, and Tenebrae felt he was alone. If the princess couldn't regain her powers, then there was no possibility of them becoming the Alpha and the Omega and he didn't see how they could banish the horsemen like their parents did. It concerned him even more as he scanned the beautiful silver eyes of his beloved and she still had this lost, innocent yet determined gaze on her. Lux might not remember everything, her time spent with the prince was bringing her personality back. She wanted to help. It wasn't just because Tenebrae told her that she had to be avenged and the people who hurt her mother had to pay for it. She could feel it in her bones. She wanted to help.

Death returned from his trip to the Vanishing Point. He had to make sure that his former enemies were still banished. While investigating, the king realized that they did escape from their prison and found princess Despair's scarf abandoned behind. He quickly realized that she might have been the one to break the spell Her hatred for Lux might have been strong enough to cause this catastrophic situation. He returned home fuming a the idea that his former partners were free to do as they pleased and would try to exert their vengeance on him and Life. They have started it, anyway, with the attack on the realm of All Beginnings. Life couldn't be killed by them but her subjects and family could. She lost one of her sons, Lux, and her husband. She wasn't allowed to bring people back to life but Time allowed her to do it only once, with the person of her choice. She chose Lux and it almost sucked all of her energy, forcing the queen into a long coma so she could recover. The horsemen knew this would have been the result and it didn't fail. Death was horrified at the thought of losing Life, but more importantly angry.

He returned to the glass palace and spent some time in the throne room, walking through the evidence he found and trying to think of the best plan to eliminate the threats. Fate told him a while ago that he should not separate Tenebrae and Lux. As tempted as it was, he now realized that she was warning him about the horsemen of Apocalypse and the need to have an Alpha and an Omega to perform the ritual. Under other circumstances, he would have refused to put his son in danger and would have urged Life to perform with him but she was in a coma and he knew her recovery was very slow and could take centuries or millennia before she could eventually wake up. Just as he was thinking of the best way to talk to the children, Tenebrae broke into the throne room. Death looked up to his son and welcomed him with a cold face. As usual, the prince chose to be dramatic, so the father braced himself and drummed his fingers against the armrest of the chair.

«Father! I demand answers! » He said, already speaking with venom in his voice. He surely was angry at his father for having omitted to tell the whole truth about the way he vanquished the horsemen.

« Why are you always so dramatic, son? What is it this time, that has you furrow your brows ? » mused Death with a cynical tone. The young cub tried to look commanding and straightened up to give himself an additional height. Lux was walking behind him, in a gorgeous sleeveless blue dress with diamonds at the rim. The goddess put her hands on her waist and waited for the prince to answer.

«Dramatic? I have always been true to myself, father, I never hid behind a mask like you did. I figured out that the Queen enemies could only be yours. Life could only be threatened by the three horsemen. » The king furrowed his brows, he didn't know what to expect from his son but knew him enough to know that this little jab wasn't all of it. He braced himself but remained emotionless, or appeared to be. Lux noticed the change in his gaze, the tempest that was starting to form. She blinked but couldn't inform the prince who resumed his accusations. « Because of you, they killed the woman I love. » That was said, the venom was spat in Death's face. He held onto the armrests tighter than he intended to and kept staring at his son without a word. « Admit it! You got Lux killed! »

« What do you know about Love, child? » He dryly said.

« I know you are in love with Queen Life. Your love allowed you to defeat your former brothers in arms. Your love is the reason you refused my love for Lux and you separated us. How could we dare be together while you never could? »

Death eyes grew wide and a green light into the jet black of his irises started to dance. He was angry, Lux could tell. The walls started to shake and Tenebrae felt an incredible pressure onto his shoulders, forcing him to kneel before his father. He resisted the best he could but there was no escaping, he couldn't resist. The boy knelt and fought as hard as he could to move. Lux watched as Death stood up, his face turning into a skull as he walked down the small stairs below his throne.

« What do you know about love, Boy. » He spoke, his voice booming through the room and sending shivers down the princess' spine. « You think you can have leverage on me because of this piece of information? You think you could make me feel fear? »

He stood a few steps away from his son who managed to keep his head up so he would stare into his father's eyes sockets. Green flames were dancing where his eyes should have been and it was a terrifying view but not as unusual. After all, Tenebrae also had red flames dancing in his eyes when he truly lashed out at the situation he was forced to be. Lux could still remember him and the flames that were on his skull. Death didn't have flames yet, but she knew it only was a matter of time before he truly lashed out at his son.

« I could care less about making you feel fear, Father. »

« Do you think I am not aware of your shenanigans, Boy? I know how you feel about me. »

« You've never loved me! » Tenebrae sneered. « You had a son out of spite! » He spat at Death who walked around him, ever so slowly and menacingly. Lux, who was kneeling too due to the pressure in the room, managed to look at the king as he strolled around.

« You are dumber than I thought you would be, son, if you ever think I do not love you. All I ever did, when it came to you, came from a place of love. You are my son. MY SON. And I wouldn't want you to be killed because you are not /thinking/ » His green flames then looked down at Tenebrae as he stopped in front of him. « You want my throne but you don't have the shoulders broad enough to rule the End Realm like it should be. You are reckless, impulsive and now it seems, stupid. » His voice was still under control, not too strong so it wouldn't transpire that he was angry, but the energy he was sending in this room proved he actually was even angrier than he looked like.

« Why didn't you tell me you were in love with queen Life? Why did you separate Lux and me? » Tenebrae managed to ask.

« Time told us of a prophecy. He told Life and I that we shouldn't fraternize because it could bring the end of everything. So we didn't. Do I love her, Tenebrae ? I do.» He stared at Lux who sat on her heels as he spoke. She was shocked at his revelations and the casualness he used to answer them. « You seem to think that what you feel for Lux is true love, but this is just puppy love. » He sounded bitter all of a sudden. « True love is watching your one and only getting married to another, bear his children, and love him. True love, is sacrificing your one chance at happiness to make sure she wouldn't die because you were selfish with your feelings. True love.. » As he spoke, his skull started to lit itself with fire. « True love is protecting her daughter and make sure she doesn't die needlessly. I will avenge her and protect you because I love you, son. Whether you believe me or not, I do love you. » He groaned and turned around, walked back to his throne and sat. His face returned to normal, with just green dancing flames in his eyes and he relieved the pressure onto the children before him. As Lux could move, she quickly went next to Tenebrae and wrapped her arms around him.

« Aokay? okay? » He nodded and she turned to look at him. « I don't understand why you show your love and affection to him in such a harsh way. Haven't you thought that maybe, if your son hated you this much it had to do with you being so cold to him? »

« I do not recall requesting your opinion, princess. » Death dryly said, but she had a point, he knew that his son would have loved him better if he had mellowed to him.

« You did not, but I don't need your permission to express myself. » She boldly stated. « I might have lost my memory and not recall your son in the past, the "me" of today was able to see just how much he loved me. You say it's puppy love, but he did unleash his true power to rescue me from a super demon. He is doing his very best to find my enemies and put them out for once and for good. He loved me, so much so that he refused to ask the keeper of secrets how to restore my memory and instead asked how to defeat our enemies. He went against my wishes for the better and took the scorn and the anger I felt towards him because he knew it was for the best. » She cupped Tenebrae's cheeks and looked into his eyes. « He loves me, my king. He loves me so much that he took the risk of being rejected by me and showed me his true face, poured his heart in front of me. He loves me enough to be honest with me, no matter what. And...I am receptive. » She whispered to him, pressing a kiss onto his forehead before she looked at Death who smirked.

« Lux. » Tenebrae wrapped his arms around her waist and looked at his father. « What is our next move...What do we do now that we know who our enemies are? »

« Fate told me that it might not look as it seems. Maybe someone else is pulling the strings. I found Princess Despair's scarf at the Vanishing Point. She's the one who set the horsemen free. »

«How? » Lux asked. « How is it possible? »

« I doubt she was able to do it alone. One of the key element to break the spell of love is to have someone with enough hatred in their heart as well as a spell. Princess Despair doesn't seem to be knowing that spell.. but I have to investigate. »

« Wait, are you saying that the horsemen are just a means to an end? What end? »

« I don't know yet. But we do need to put them back into the vanishing point. You think you are the Alpha and the Omega? Let's see if you can lock them down. I will reach out to them, send them an invitation to a duel and we'll settle this for once and for good. »

« Father... » Death was already lost in his thoughts, he moved his hand to inform the pair to leave him alone. As they left, Tenebrae took Lux's arm and led her to a quiet balcony. She looked at his face and coyly smiled. « You didn't have to interfere with my father and me. »

« I wanted to. » She simply said, her hands on the balcony. Tenebrae cupped her cheeks and stroked the soft ebony skin. « I was afraid he would obliterate me, he was so upset. » She noticed the goosebumps on her arms and chuckled softly.

« But he didn't. » He moistened his lips and looked into her silver eyes. « Did you mean..what you said? »

« About feeling....some type of way? » She danced around it and he nodded frantically. « I meant my words... I'm still figuring things out but...I'm...I like you very much. » She leaned her cheek into his palm and pressed a delicate kiss on his sensitive skin, sending shivers down his spine. « Give me some time, Tenebrae...There is still a lot I need to figure out. »

« You can have all the time you need, Lux...All the time. » He whispered and planted a kiss on top of her head.

A/ N: Death finally found the kids, Tenebrae still had not snapped out of his trance. Lux still doesn't have her memories back. What the hell is going on?

The threat was contained by Tenebrae still was unresponsive. Lux's voice reached out to him but he wasn't listening. It was unsettling for the amnesiac goddess who needed her savior to return to his usual self. He was standing in the middle of a street filled with dead human bodies, deaths he caused because he unleashed some of his power into the human realm. He was standing, his eyes turned into black pools, his hair longer than usual, his human clothes turned into his black and blue armor from the End Realm. He even had a crown made of blue light above his head, flashing brightly and blinding surviving humans. It was at this exact moment that Death arrived, a little too late to prevent his son from going berserk and endangering human lives. Lux was still shaking from head to toe from her recent ordeal. She almost died, her weakened body and soul would have been swallowed whole by the super-demon and Life's efforts to keep her daughter alive would have been in vain. It scared her, the realization that she could have met her end with just a snap of a pair of fingers. Yet, Having Death standing next to her was even more terrifying. He wasn't wearing a fancy human face, he didn't have his long white hair and pale skin. His face was a skull, his outfit was a heavy black armor with a black hooded cape that covered the top of his skull. At his feet was a black shadow, that, for the one who would look at it, seemed like a portal to the End Realm.

Lux could see the souls of the damned, float into the shadow of Death. She felt cold, almost as if a ghost was breathing on her neck. He kept his hand on her shoulder, holding onto it gently as if he'd known her. Of course, he did! If Tenebrae was her former lover, then Death knew about her. He seemed to want to appease her soul but she couldn't feel better. In fact, he made it worse. He looked at Tenebrae who was still enjoying the meal he just had and cleared his throat. Lux could feel her teeth smack uncontrollably. She clenched her fists around her dress and covered her mouth with the warm palm of her hand. She had just escaped from a certain death by the hand of a super-demon, no big deal, why did she have to deal with Death now? How could she snap Tenebrae out of his daydream? Her silver eyes were wide open, staring at the entity she still felt familiar with. She was wondering how things were between the two of them prior to her memory loss. Did Death like her? Did he hate her? Was he protective of his son? She had no idea and frankly, it did matter to her because she didn't know if he would want to hurt her now that he acknowledged her presence.

«Tenebrae! » He called, his voice echoed through the whole neighborhood. It sent a shockwave around them, shocking the young goddess who took a few steps back to hide behind Tenebrae's stallion turned the car.

« Father... » The Prince turned on his heels, standing straight as if to show he wasn't intimidated by his own father. « You have a strange concept of time. The battle is over, /I/ handled it. »

« Look around you. Do you consider that you have done a good job? Those lives weren't meant to die this soon...and certainly not by your hand. » He said, dismissing his son's victory over the super-demon.

« Did you come all this way to criticize the way I protect Lux? » Tenebrae snarled at his father, brandishing his sword at him in hubris. Any other person would have been dead by now but Tenebrae was his son and Death felt merciful.

« You took innocent lives you shouldn't have. It is your duty to at least lead them to the End Realm. I will take Lux and take her to our kingdom. »

His voice wasn't an invitation for debate and Tenebrae's still riding his hubris attacked his father with an energy blast. Lux watched in horror as the prince attacked Death. The blast hit the King who didn't flinch at the attack. As a matter of fact, it didn't even hurt him, which had the goddess open her eyes wide in surprise. She felt it, the electricity that hit her like a wave and Lux knew at this instant that had she not been a goddess, she would have died from such an impact. The energy alone was enough to make Lux bend the knee and hide her face. Death's silence was unsettling. The fact he wasn't even bothered by his son's attack made Tenebrae blink out of surprise but attacked him again. Same means, same results. Death wasn't impressed and stood still.

« Are you done, child? »

« I'm not done with you Father! I'm not! We wouldn't have been in this mess if you haven't taken me away from Lux in the first place! » He said, running towards his father with his sword in both hands. He tried to swing it to Death but the King grabbed the blade and held onto it effortlessly.

« I didn't anticipate this attack, I know but you of all people should know that there are rules that aren't meant to be broken. You and Lux should never be together... »

« According to who? » Tenebrae yelled. « Who is deciding for my life? Who dares...? » -He was cut short by his father-

« Time. » It made both Lux and Tenebrae freeze. The prince's sword disappeared and Death took that opportunity to push his son away. Tenebrae's appearance reverted back to what it was before. Gone were his armor and his crown. Gone was the incredible pressure Lux and the humans were feeling when Tenebrae released his power. «Life and I are not your enemies. We were doing what we believed was right at the time. Today, I am not so sure that it was a good idea. »

« What makes you think...Wait! How did you find me? Are you aware we were looking for the... »

« Keeper of Secrets? I knew you were looking for them. I hope you were able to ask your question. » Tenebrae curled his fingers into fists. Lux had never seen him like this, in plain day. It was a mixture of anger and fear. He couldn't even look his own father in the eye. She watched as he clenched his fists tighter and looked away from his father.

« I wonder why you didn't stop us this time. » -He sounded bitter and wrapped his arms around his chest.-

« I don't have to explain myself. You, however, have to guide the souls of those you killed. »

« Lux was in danger, father. I had no choice. »

« Yes, you did. You know damn well that we can't show our true nature in the human plane. »

« I know father... I will get to it. » He sighed and looked at Lux. « If you are taking her to the End realm, then I shall see her there. » He paused and looked at Lux. He tried to be reassuring but she could tell he was nervous. He didn't know what his father had in mind but he had no other choice but to do as he was told. « Lux. You will be alright. Do you trust me? » She nodded. « You can trust my father. He is a man of his word. I'll see you around. » He said, snapping his finger and disappearing in a blue smoke, taking his stallion with him too.

The goddess looked at the huge deity who was standing a few feet away from her. She watched as he cleared the place from any supernatural trace left by his son. The bits and pieces of demons turned into dust that was then absorbed by his shadow. Lux looked at her hands and bit her bottom lip. She had no idea of what was going to happen and clearly didn't trust him. She just had gotten used to Tenebrae and now she had to spend time with his father. What was happening?

Chronicles of Lux and Tenebrae : Pandemonium

A/ N: Fate knows what's up. Death is on his way to help the kids. Tenebrae and Lux are not on good terms after he crossed her with the Keeper of Secrets.  And things are about to become even more confusing.

Xxxxx

One thing the harpies learned when they raised the son of Death: Never anger Tenebrae. Once, when he was just a babe, the young prince was very upset about his father not coming to visit and unconsciously unleashed true horror to the Harpies, to the point that one of them almost died. They managed to calm the boy but decided to do everything in their power to avoid a situation like this one all the while training the kid to use his powers. They discovered he was, indeed, very powerful, so much so that he could stand his own against his own father in a fight that could last millennia. As Lux was walking to Tenebrae's car she felt danger. People around them were fleeing en masse, screaming that there were demons coming their way. There was a simple rule, Deities, demons, and angels wouldn't walk the Earth assuming their true form. Anomalies existed in the form of half-breeds.which existed on both the human plane and the astral plane. There also were those who refused to follow the rule and therefore exposed themselves to mortals.

Lux turned on her heels to warn Tenebrae about the upcoming threat but it was too late. The very reason humans were trying to escape turned out to be a massive demon. Tenebrae was standing tall in front of this monstrosity. It was a giant decaying corpse with a pair of bat wings to match with his disharmonious face. Its flesh was pitch black and seemed to be rotting which could explain the smell. It had long sharp nails and fangs. Lux silver eyes grew wide as she felt some familiarity with the monster. Her fingers started to shake out of frustration because she couldn't recover her memory. Her muscles do remember the gestures she used to have when she fought anomalies with Tenebrae, she still had the urge to draw her sword but couldn't remember how to summon it or if she truly had one. She still had the urge to do something and protect those humans but couldn't move from her spot. Her body was petrified where it stood and Tenebrae quickly understood that. The demon wasn't alone and soon enough they ended up surrounded by a dozen of them.  Under any other circumstance, Tenebrae would have found this quite adorable because demons like these were not a threat to him, but he had to deal with a defenseless Lux and her safety trumped everything else.

« What...What are those? » Lux finally managed to say.

« Demons. » Tenebrae quickly jumped closed to her and answered as he took a defensive position.

« I know they are demons... I meant, why are they here? » She said, holding onto his arm.

« They must have been following me since I left the Fortress.stay right behind me, Lux. »

« Tenebrae... I don't understand... »

And neither did he. Why would demons attack « him » specifically? Her divine aura was way too faint to be noticed by demons like these. Tenebrae had walked the Eart long enough to notice the smallest of differences but for the untrained eye, nobody could distinguish Lux from a normal human. Her powers were still locked due to her memory not returning and therefore she was the most vulnerable she'd ever been and the least to be detected by evil creatures. They followed him and while usually, demons would avoid attacking The son of Death, these were out there to get him. He could feel the electricity in the air and goosebumps cover his alabaster skin. He could handle them, as long as Lux stayed behind him, where he could protect her efficiently, he could handle them. He summoned his long sword, a beautiful silver blade, encased in a sculpted black handle that ended in the shape of a skull. The weapon, like any other divine weaponry, was made out of his energy, which meant he could summon as many as he'd like as long as he had the energy to do it. It could cut through anything and usually, the weakest foes would fall if he hit them with it.

The prince started his attack, swinging his sword and cutting the demons in half. 1 down, 2 down, 3 down. The 6th blocked his attack with its claw, proving to be more resistant and stronger than the 5 previous ones. Tenebrae dodged a bite from the demon but got cut by another one who clawed his back. He turned his head and sent him a blast of dark energy, making it disintegrate on impact. It was too easy and he got cocky really fast. While he was slicing and dicing the demons, he didn't notice that a super-demon made its appearance and grabbed Lux in its giant palms. It was huge, as big as a public floor lamp and already it was lifting Lux to its mouth with the intent of eating her. It was her screams that alerted the Prince of the End Realm and had him turn around, only to witness with horror in his eyes that his beloved could have died right there.

« Tenebrae !!!!! »

She screamed! Outstretching her hand towards him in a desperate attempt at holding his hand. She was breathing hyperventilating, her eyes wide open and tears running down her cheeks. Fear was overwhelming the daughter of Life who didn't know better but to cry for help as her memories were still blocked.

« I'm coming! »

Tenebrae replied, sending a blast to the super-demon that didn't even flinch. He looked at his hands, confused as to why it wasn't working but decided to act rather than think. He sent another blast at the creature that started to chuckle as it pulled Lux up, ready to drop her into its mouth. The prince jet black eyes grew wide and he tried to cut through the super-demon which barely felt the blow.

« TENEBRAE !!!! AAHHH !!! AHHH PLEASE! » She kept crying his name, making his heart beat faster than it ever should. He was starting to panic.

As the creature finally positioned Lux the way it wanted, it dropped her abruptly into its giant mouth. The moment slowed down or appeared to be in slow motion as Tenebrae started to have flashbacks of the past. He saw Lux standing next to him, her glaive and shield in her hands. She had tied her hair in a high ponytail that only complimented the high cheekbones of hers. She was wearing a golden attire made of pants and a tank top with light shoes for the training. He remembered her smile as she contemplated the progress she'd made and the glow in her silver eyes as she looked at him excitedly. Then the flashback gave space to reality where she was still falling into the mouth of the monster and it cut back to yet another flashback where they were fighting anomalies together. He could see how gracefully she slew their enemies, how brutal she was too, punching, biting, kicking flesh when she wasn't slicing it with her blade. It seemed like a lifetime away. The flashback gave space to the present where she was still falling, even slower than before and he locked his pitch black eyes upon the silver ones of the goddess. The sight cut back to the last flashback, one where they were kissing and laughing and hiding from the rest of the world. He still remembered the warmth of her hand against his cold one. He still remembered her scent, and the sound of her voice when she couldn't contain her chuckles. It was enough to push him over the edge.

The harpies still remember the day the young prince was angry. He opened a giant portal from where many giant hands and dark matter shaped like tentacles escaped from and grabbed them all. The hands would have pulled all of them if he wasn't calmed down by his guardians and when asked what it was that he did,  he simply said that the portal was a dimension inside of him. He didn't use this ability often and nobody truly knew what that meant to him. What that made him be. Was he a portal to another dimension? Was it just an ability to make himself stronger? Were those he absorbed still alive or did he drain their essence? Lux, who was still falling, noticed the giant portal that appeared in front of her and the giant hands forcing their way outside. The humans who couldn't escape started to cry and pray and chant in hopes not to be obliterated by the amount of energy and the monstrosities they were witnessing. Her eyes flashed a light for a brief moment as she kept staring at him.

Tenebrae was angry and desperate. His anger stemmed from his fear of losing Lux for all eternity. He couldn't think straight, had little to no control over this form of his. His shadow had expended, to the portal. His hair grew in length, reaching his waist while his nails became longer and sharper. He was still dressed in a human way but there was a blue crown -made of energy- above his head. He outstretched his hand towards the creature, having the huge pale hands from the portal grab the monster and catch Lux safely. The super-demon started to squirm and claw the hands but there were just so many that it couldn't push them away. Tenebrae was snarling the entire time, relishing in the creatures helplessness. The noise became unbearable for the humans who started to bleed from the eyes and ears. There was a reason supernatural creatures stayed in their astral plane. When exposed to too much divine energy like Tenebrae's, humans couldn't survive, they just died. And they did. As the monster was taken away and thrown into the portal, Lux witnessed the poor humans souls that also were taken away to the portal. As the giant hand that held her put her back on the floor, she held the hems of her dress and watched as everything returned to the portal, giant hands, super-demon and human souls. Tenebrae yanked his head back and kept his arms open wide as if he was savoring -and he was!- the moment.

« Tenebrae... » Lux called but he didn't respond, too engrossed by his dinner. « Tenebrae...The humans... » She looked at the lifeless bodies that were laying on the floor and started to shake. «Tenebrae! Wake up! » She called but he didn't respond to her. « Tenebrae.. please! »

She yelled at him, hoping that it would make Tenebrae snap back into reality but it didn't work. She felt a hand grab her shoulder and looked up. It was Death himself.

Chronicles of Lux and Tenebrae: A father's burden

A/ N: Because I was thinking a lot about him. They all belong to me!

xxx xxx

Death had just finished talking to his son through one of his minions. The conversation didn't go very well as he expected Tenebrae constantly opposed him. The king of the End realm was aware of his son's desire to set himself free from what he perceived as oppression. Tenebrae wasn't wrong. Death ruled his kingdom with an iron fist, which was necessary if he wanted to preserve the fabric of the universe. The deity was tense since he learned Life and the Realm of All Beginnings were attacked. Who would be powerful enough to kill Lux and cause serious damage to Life herself? Not many entities could. He went to visit Time himself but came back empty-handed. Time didn't orchestrate the attack. What would be the point in killing Life if not to disrupt the whole universe? What would he gain from such an action? Nothing. Their conversations, however, hinted strongly at Death being the potential real target or his son.

Nobody expected Death to have an heir. What would be the point if he was the end game? Tenebrae's existence was itself a threat to many who believed that the prince was vastly powerful, if not more powerful than his father and viewed his relationship with Lux as being potentially threatening their entire existence. Who could blame them? Time himself decided that Death and Life couldn't fraternize and act on their feelings. Lux and Tenebrae, whenever they touched, caused sparkles of unknown consequences. What could happen if they both had an offspring? Death couldn't ignore the fact that many weren't happy with him having a son, which prompted him to observe Tenebrae from afar. He wouldn't physically be there unless one of his spies informed him of an impending threat that went beyond his son's power but he would keep an eye on him. While Tenebrae would ask the Keeper of Secrets, Death decided to keep investigating. Time was off the table, but he knew of another powerful entity who could have had a say in his son's and Life's son's destiny. Fate.

He rode his undead Stallion «  to Fate's realm. A green palace of pure delight, with an architecture made of the finest glass one, could ever see. It was empty for she didn't have a court like Life or Death. It was just filled with intricate floral designs and extinct animals that were free to frolic in the place. The throne room, where Fate received the rare visitors she actually had -unlike her husband, Time who was always requested- had a throne made of glass and was wearing a long green sleeveless dress. Her skin was beige, her hair was shoulder lengthed and styled in a bob cut and parted in the middle. She was wearing a golden crown made of leaves, Ă  la roman and her eyes were green orbs. As she saw the King of the End Realm, a soft smirk crept on her crimson lips.

« I was expecting you'd come earlier than that. »

« Spare me your sarcasm, Fate. You know very well why I am here. »

Death slightly bowed in front of her in order to pay homage to the queen who lifted her eyebrows but smiled at him nonetheless. He was handsome in his leather coat; with his long white hair teasing the small of his back. His black eyes stared into the green orbs of the deity whose grin grew larger. She leaned her elbow against her lap and bent forward a little bit.

« I do know, indeed. I have some answers for you but I am not sure you would want to listen to what I have to say. »

« Try me. » -He said, crossing his arms over his large chest. He curbed a brow, waiting for her to play his mind like she always did.-

Fate was extremely powerful, she wasn't as powerful as Death per say, but her power wasn't to be underestimated since she could influence the very existence of those gods. While the Keeper of Secret knew everything about everything and everyone but was limited by the « one question only » rule, Fate could predict the future and decide whether or not she wanted it to happen. While her influence was more effective on humans, she still could have a way to intervene in divine matters and was feared and respected by the gods for this very reason. She could mess up with your life, force you to endure a fate that was worse than what was supposed to happen. No wonder Death threaded carefully with her. She grinned at him, her eyes flashing a bright green light before she leaned back into her throne and shrugged her shoulders.

« Well... Let's begin with something you already know. Your son and Life's daughter's lives are entwined. They share a bond that nobody could destroy, not even you...or me. We could say that fate brought them together. » -She claimed-

« Time warned me that we shouldn't fraternize. Our children can't be together... » -He observed, eliciting a frown from the goddess.-

« Have you asked yourself why Time decided something so arbitrary when he himself, fraternized with /me /? » It made Death curb a brow.

« What do you mean? » -He commanded but she brushed him off with another shrug-

« All I'm saying is that Tenebrae and Lux cannot be torn apart and shouldn't. Yes, I know you're wondering why I am telling you this but You know I refuse to reveal what lies in the future. At least, not all of it. »

She winked at him and stood up. Death was staring at her, cold and unreadable as he didn't want her to guess his feelings and act on it. Fate was undeniably gorgeous but it wasn't her beauty that troubled the pale god, no, it was her cryptic words about his son. He watched, unimpressed, as the goddess feather touched his strong arm and leaned her forehead against his shoulder.

« Are you suggesting that they were attacked because Life and I separated our children? » He questioned. Fate grinned and tapped his shoulder.

« It wasn't just your responsibility. Someone else had a hand to play and if you keep looking, you will soon see the whole picture. » She then furrowed her brows. « I am doing you a favor here. I want you to succeed. Those who attacked Life and killed Lux would come back, stronger, far stronger than you can imagine. »

« Do I know them? » She looked up to his eyes and nodded quietly. « Who are they? »

« I cannot say their names. » She started with, biting her bottom lip but Death lost patience and grabbed her shoulders.

« Enough with your games, Fate! Our children lives are at stakes. Life barely brought her own daughter to Life and if I lose my son...Tell me who my enemies are. »

« I cannot do this. I can, however, twist my fundamental rule to help you find the answer yourself. You do need to follow the children and ensure they get to the Keeper of Secrets safe and sound. They aren't aware yet of the great dangers that would come their way and Lux hasn't been fully restored and is dependent on your son. Tenebrae and Lux are the keys..our only true saviors. They must /not/ die. They must not. »

She stopped pretending for a moment and a brief flash of anguish and fear actually crossed her eyes. Death realized that the goddess was genuinely scared. He had never seen her act like this or twist her own rules to give him enough information about the situation. While she didn't directly point at him, she did accuse Time of being behind the attacks and the rule against Life and Him being able to love one another. It didn't make sense to him at first, but he kept the information somewhere in his mind. He would come after Time once he was sure his child was safe and Life came back from her self-imposed coma. He stroked Fate's cheek with the back of his cold hand and turned around.

« Thank you for your words. I will make sure they safely get to the keeper of Secret and stay alive. »

« You don't know who you are up against. There are forces that are far more powerful than you when combined... or alone. I wish your kids to survive and for Life to return to us but... » She said, allowing her fingers to trace the heard lines of his leather-clad back. « You could die...We... could die. Play your part carefully. Be smart. »

« Always. Farewell Fate. I hope to see you again soon. »

He said as he left her realm. As he rode his pallid stallion, Death was processing the words of Fate. If she was right, then he had more questions to ask that he thought he had.

Chronicles of Lux and Tenebrae: The mother

A/N: Last of the last. Last main character to be presented before I kickstart the story.

xxx

Life was the most powerful being in that universe, alongside Death. They both were two sides of the same coin. She created and he destroyed and the two were supposed to keep some balance in this world. There was a golden rule that prevented Life and Death from fraternizing, despite both of them developing growing feelings for one another, it was decided best for them to focus on other people and their own realms. For Death, it became a necessity when he wanted to have an heir. He chose one of the most beautiful -living- woman to carry his child. She later died during labour and joined Elysion for the great service she gave Death but he never felt anything for her. How could he? when all he had in mind was Life? She herself, chose a mortal man, called Prince Happy, who gave her several children over the years their relationship lasted. Her last born, Lux was the only daughter she had. Her precious little girl who brought Life so much joy and pride. How could she not?

Life was the most powerful being in the universe, alongside Death. She was known for her timeless beauty. Her dark skin complexion and long black hair that was only highlighted by the white eyes of hers. Life was the warmest creature to ever exist, kind and gentle and celebrated by every living creature. She was feared, treasured, cherished for how fleeting she was and how fragile mankind was. She reigned with an iron fist on her realm, ensuring the survival of all living creatures and the respect of Time and Fate. Over the years she gave more work to her children, making them find anomalies on both Earth and in the Realm of all beginnings to ensure that no abominations could exist and disrupt the natural course of the CYCLE. Life started it all, Death ended it all and spirits joined the End realm for their final rest. It was supposed to happen that way. Of course, you'd think that Life would have avoided Death at any cost. Their old flame should have died when Time told them they couldn't be together if they wanted to avoid a major catastrophe. It didn't happen this way. Life was in love with Death and so was he but they decided to bury their feelings for the well-being of the whole universe. That was until their children met and fell in love with one another. Tenebrae was young, brash, reckless in his feelings and so was Lux. Both were aware of the golden rule and yet it didn't stop them from falling in love with one another. It was crystal clear for the two younglings that they were meant to be and the fatal attraction caused the parents to be scared of the potential repercussions of their love coming to fruition.

Locking Lux away wasn't the smartest move her mother did, but it was the result of a deeply rooted fear inside of the deity, one that refused to leave her guts and kept her awake at night. Her child couldn't fall in love with Death's child and repeat the same mistake their parents made. Fraternizing was forbidden and she knew it only was a matter of time before the children were punished for their foolish action. She expected Time to confront her but instead of him, fear, death and rotten flesh invaded the Omega realm. It never happened before but Tenebrae's birth and the romance that was born from his relationship with Lux attracted Life's enemies even faster. She should have seen it coming but it was too late. Powerless, she watched Conquest kill her daughter in front of her, and was severely injured by War. She couldn't hear them well but realized that they had been fomenting a plan to overthrow both Death and Life. They were successfully driven out by Life's last effort but it had her fall into a coma shortly after she brought her daughter back to life, with amnesia and sent her to Earth. Aware of her surroundings but unable to communicate, she couldn't tell Death that their children were in danger or give him the identity of her assailants but she knew he would investigate and would protect their heirs. He had to.

Life was the most powerful being in the universe, alongside Death and yet she got herself surprised by an attack of the three remaining apocalypse riders. She had lost two of her sons who joined Death's End realm, but three were still alive and rebuilt the Realm of all Beginnings while their mother was recovering from her assault. Lux was very capable and they knew that even without her full memories, she still was able to handle herself well. Life found solace in thinking she would make it and that Tenebrae would find her and would protect her. Until her awakening, there was way too much uncertainty for Life's liking. Nobody knew what would happen next and that was the scariest part, nobody knew.

Chronicles of Lux and Tenebrae: The Father

A/N: It's like I can't stop writing this lol Enters Death. You have guessed it, the next one would be about Life. Just like with the previous two, I'll dig a little into Death's motives, psyche and explain a little more what the story is about. It will end with the next one before actual dialogues and scenes take place :)

xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Death had a son.

He went by many names around the world and was mostly known for being the one who ended human life. It was his task, to harvest the souls of the fallen and bring them to his kingdom to be ruled by him. Death's role was more complex than many would think it was. He wouldn't just take souls to his kingdom, he would either punish or reward them depending on how they lived their lives. He would give one last chance to those who lived their lives hurting people -as long as it didn't claim someone's life- or would grant redemption to those who fully repented for their past sins. He was a judge on top of being a ruler. Death was absolute in his kingdom and feared by both the living and the dead. He was an otherworldly beauty, with long waist-length silver hair, silver eyes and a skin so pale that it almost was translucent. In his dark realm, he felt like a beacon of light or a star depending on who was looking at him. His beauty only equated the cold reputation he had.

Indeed, he was known for being ruthless, possessive, jealous, cold and detached from everything that didn't directly affected him and his people. He was known for being brutal when it suited him or calm and collected to the greatest horrors of those confronting him. What was true, however, was that Death was pragmatic. He had wanted an heir he would entrust with the heavy task of being his right hand and thus sought the most devoted and beautiful soul of the kingdom to carry his child. Princess Melancholia was chosen, a beautiful pale beauty with jet black hair and green eyes became the mother of his child. Just like this Tenebrae was born.

Death had a son.

He gave the child to the Harpys so they would raise the child to be the perfect heir, in adoration of his father and with no intent to overthrow him. Many said that it was to be expected from the king of the End Realm but there was a deeper and more unexpected reason that had Death give the baby to someone else. The minute he held his son in his arms, the Grim Reaper fell in love with his progeny. He cared for him but Death was pragmatic and him caring was an anomaly. Him wanting a child was already an anomaly and even more when said child was the product of a union that lacked love. The child was handsome, taking after his father's traits, such as the nose and the lips, the paleness of the skin and the cold eyes. The child was, however, wilder than Death was. He learned of the budding romance between Lux and Tenebrae and in agreement with Life, he locked his son away from Lux. both he and Life saw this relationship as potentially dangerous as it went against the very golden rule that forbade the kings and queens to fraternize and nobody knew what the product of said love could be. Both him and Life wanted to protect their children from a potential catastrophe and both him and Life refused to acknowledge the elephant in the room. lux and Tenebrae were just like them, the manifestation of the love Life and Death shared for one another. Like Tenebrae, Lux was born from a pragmatic union between Life and King Happiness. (or King Happy as he was called) and she also, was a rebellious mind, like his son.

Death had a son.

This decision was the first of many that would strain his relationship with his son. Tenebrae resented him for separating him from his beloved Lux. He couldn't see the big picture and Death couldn't explain anyway. Why would he soften himself up? Why would he admit that he had been in his son's shoes himself? Why would he dig into his own feelings? He decided to ignore it and allow his child to resent him for centuries. He watched his son grow in both power and wisdom but also watched him become more bitter as time went by. When the news of the attack of the Omega Realm came in, Tenebrae left the kingdom and Death went to see Life, who was in critical condition. He investigated and started to piece things together. He had to confront his fellow Apocalypse Horsemen, in order to make sure none of them were involved like he suspected. It tore him apart, knowing his precious child was left to fend for himself, at the potential mercy of Death and Life enemies. Tenebrae wouldn't listen to him and Death knew he would be more efficient if he protected from a distance, after all, if he was right then he would confront the danger by himself while his son would find his beloved. Father and son fighting the same battle. It did have a nice ring to it, save for the fact his son wasn't aware his father was watching him from afar.

Death had a son and those who would try to hurt him, would soon realize why he was feared.

Her eulogy

She sometimes imagined what people would say about her the day she died. How would they react when they would learn the new,  Who would be crying? who wouldn't? who would come to her funerals and who wouldn't. She tried to imagine those who would say good things about her and those who wouldn't and realized she couldn't. Who did that? who would think about their own deaths and think about the words others would say? Well..the woman couldn't answer the question, all she knew was that she did. Her brain did. Her brain took her to imaginary places at imaginary time periods.

She would have been dead. How? It didn't matter. She would have been dead and it would have been better. She would be wearing her best dress and would look her happiest. her casket would be open so everybody would see how appeased she appeared to be... how she would truly be. Death seemed more and more appealing after all, and the woman knew that she would know rest only when she would be dead. The woman imagined how it would be when those who attended her funerals would speak of her. She knew what they would say about her, after all, she was a complicated woman. She wasn't a happy lass. Or maybe she used to be but forgot how to be happy. Her heart was broken, to the point that she couldn't help but cry every morning.

Her tears would never heal her. They would never make her pain go away so she did her best to prevent herself from crying or ignore her tears and pretend they weren't there. She did her best to go on with her life, plaster fake smiles on her lips and walk as if she owned the World while in fact, it was breaking down at her feet. There was nothing left inside or maybe too much was there. She did push those feelings deep down, avoiding to feel every single one of them, especially the happy ones. Because what could possibly happen if not being disappointed. They would say she was a piece of work and was definitely too much work for them to handle. They didn't understand her, the peculiar ways of her mind. They didn't even want to.

They would say it was a relief that she died because at least now they could focus on something else. They wouldn't need to spend too much time in her gloomy and depressing company. They wouldn't need to comfort her and cater to her needs anymore. And yet she didn't even tell them what she wanted. She didn't even tell them how much she needed them and how terrible life was for her. So they thought she simply was making it hard for them on purpose. They couldn't possibly know how deeply hurt she truly was. How much of a nightmare her existence felt like. They couldn't know. They wouldn't know.

Her death would be a relief and she expected her eulogy to be the reflection of that. People lining up to express their joy to have gotten rid of her. People lining up to paint a portrait of her she already was aware of. She was a monster and Death took her away. Maybe that would be the last good action she could give. Making herself disappear...

Ah! If only.
