Ishtar's head was full of worries. Nothing had happened since Leviathan was dead but he knew that Elpis would be set free in a matter of time. He wanted to ignore his feelings, bypass them so he could still rule with a clear mind but memories of old times, his own confused emotions came to haunt him again. He was confused about how he felt for the young goddess and what he actually wanted. Torn between wanting her dead and trying to take her back with him, the New-All Father needed direction. Ayasha could never give him what he was looking for, how could she when she was hellbent on finding and killing their sister and the sins? He had already disappointed the goddess of knowledge and therefore wanted to avoid disappointing her once again. His closest siblings were all dead, Sitäa, Khrön.. all of those who could have listened to him were now gone.

Gaea was there. His beloved mother, the All-Mother was on a self-imposed exile on Earth. She had always listened to her children and he knew that if he sought her help, she would answer his calls...Well...he wanted to believe she would. After all, he was the son who killed his father, the love of Gaea's life. How could she forgive him for such a heinous act? He had to try, he had to try and find his mother and seek forgiveness. Therefore, he slipped off of the Elder-realm and visited the mortal realm, where he knew Gaea was hiding it. Because she wanted to get closer to Elpis, he knew she left Angola for North America where she was found helping Natives at the border of Canada and America. As usual, he assumed his favorite human meat suit. He was a tall and broad handsome brunet with blue eyes. He could feel those mortals turn around to have a good look at him. They were intrigued, excited, aroused even because he exuded power and control and under any other circumstances, especially during a war, Ishtar would have relished in the way they were admiring him. Today, of all days, he wasn't in the mood. He only needed one special attention and it was his mother's.

He found his mother, assuming the rôle and features of a Native American doctor. She was busy comforting a very sick human child who didn't have long enough to live. The mother of the child had already died hours ago but despite its best effort, the baby couldn't survive. Gaea was holding and cradling the little soul with the utmost kindness she never really showed her own children, which made it even more difficult to witness. She didn't move when her own son entered the room. She barely batted an eye but she was aware of his presence. The baby felt danger and death in the presence of Ishtar and started to cry some more, afraid and confused so Gaea used her powers to create a bubble that would isolate the child from the aggressive nature of her son.

« You scared the baby, Ishtar. »

« Mother... » He started with, but she didn't look at him.

« It doesn't have enough time to live and I don't want its last minutes on Earth to be spent being afraid. It needs joy and peace, so be quiet. » She commanded, as she gently stroked the child's face and planted kisses on its forehead.

Ishtar stayed silent, what else could he say? The god of War waited in silence, his azure eyes never leaving his mother as she was taking a young soul to its final resting place. It was a bittersweet scene, one that tugged at his heartstrings because he could see all the love she had for humans and never had for him. After what seemed like an eternity, the goddess of Life put the dead infant back into its cradle and stood up to finally face her own child. Her eyes were vibrant, glowing with the same golden glow Elpis' eyes had. She put both hands on her waist and tilted her head to the side.

« What brings you here, Ishtar? »

« I wanted--I needed to see you, mother. » He scratched the back of his neck and looked away from her.

« Oh yes? You need to see /me/? Let me guess, it has something to do with your sister Elpis doesn't it? » Ishtar nodded quietly and looked at the floor. Gaea shrugged and furrowed her brows. « Then figure that out on your own. »

« Mother, please! » He said, looking at his mother again. Gaea clenched her jaw.

« Now you're begging for /my/help? »

« I didn't have the choi-- »

« You've KILLED your father! You chose to follow this path Ishtar, now you have to live with the consequences. » She spat at him, but he put his hands on her shoulders.

« Khaos was heartless. He never loved any of his children save for Elpis and you know it, mother. » -Gaea shook her head and started to rub her arms.- « You know it! You never cared for us either ! You've shown this human child more love than you ever showed /me/! » He yelled. Gaea was unimpressed, mostly because she didn't want to face his words and question her own behavior. Deep down she knew she neglected her children, save for Elpis who was the first and only child she willingly conceived with Khaos.

« What do you want? » She finally asked after a long moment of silence.

It was a lot for the new All-Father. He wasn't used to speaking his mind and he didn't know how to handle the flow of emotions that was overwhelming him. He wrapped his arms around her waist and then fell on his knees. Gaea lifted her brows and put her hands on his shoulders. She was breathing even harder now because she couldn't escape her own responsibilities.

«I don't know what to do, mother. Elpis betrayed us and because she is on the Sin's side, she doesn't give me the choice. »

« You always had the choice, Ishtar. You stabbed and cursed my little girl. Don't come back and act surprised when she wants to avenge herself. »

« She brought ruin to our family. »

« YOU DID! » She yelled, pushing her son away with both hands. « You were the one who stabbed Elpis. There is no coming back from this. You betrayed her, not the other way round. You betrayed your sister and she will come back and try to destroy all of us.... myself included. » Gaea took a deep breath and rolled her eyes.

« I would do it again! Mother, haven't you seen theSINS?? Don't you know how much of an abomination they are ? They are nothing but weapons designed to destroy gods, us included. » Ishtar's voice turned into a rumble as he was screaming his frustration. « She betrayed our very essence by debasing herself with a thing. She betrayed me by rejecting the love I have for her. »

« Here we finally are ! Jealousy. You are jealous of a sin because he was able to get what you will never have. Elpis' love. Is it why you came to me, son ? To hear from my lips that she is indeed in love with her sin and there is no way in this life or the other that she would ever belong to you ? » the All-mother sneered. « Because here it is, she will never be yours. I know my daughter, and I know just how much she loves this creature. Sins are far more than just weapons but your sister and you are understimating them, as always. »

« They are things... weapons... monsters. Nothing more and nothing less. » He insisted, gritting his teeth as the words of his mother were hurting him. Anger was slowly overwhelming him and his eyes were flashing red. « Even today you're defending your daughter despite her actions and her betrayal. Even today you are ready to reject me for what I did without looking at what others did. »

« You want me to say I was a bad mother, Ishtar ? Is it what you truly want ? » -She took a deep breath and rolled her eyes as he seemed unable to get off of her «  I cared for you, for all of my children from the moment you were born tot he moment you became independent. I always supported your decisions, always gave an encouraging word. Do I care about humans ? I sure do. Do I love Elpis ? I sure do. I loved you until you decided to kill the love of /my/ life. You became dust to me. »She coldly said, before she pushed him away and walked from him. He could see nothing but her back and it sent shivers down his spine.

« I want you back with us, mother. I want... »

« It's not going to happen Ishtar. Not now, not ever. » She spat at him while her hand ran over her face. « You broke what could have been when you killed your father. You destroyed the connection you had with your sister. »

« Mother... » He pleaded, his hand on his chest but she didn't turn around and refused to look at him. « Would you look at me! » He commanded, but she shrugged and refused to turn around. « LOOK AT ME! »

« You don't deserve that I set my eyes on you again! You don't deserve anything! » She yelled at him but he stood back up, wide, broad and menacing. He wanted to do something, force her to listen to him, force her to look at him but he knew he couldn't force the all-mother. No matter how much he wanted to. « Elpis hates you and she's right to. She trusted you Ishtar, how could you do that to her? She trusted you with her life and look what you did ! You wanted to kill her, I advise you should go through with it because she would never forgive you....and so wouldn't I. »

She said, taking another step away from her son. Ishtar watched Gaea and curled his hands into balls. His heart was in shambles because she finally made it clear that he would never have the life he so wished to take back. His mother wouldn't come back to him, his beloved sister would never forgive him. Why would Elpis do such a thing when he was the one who cursed her? Why would Elpis come back to him when she was desperately in love with the Sin? Gaea was right, he only had one way to go from there. Whether he wanted it or not.
