Chronicles of the Primeval gods: THE CHESS GAME PART II (recap)

Chronicles of the Primeval gods: THE CHESS GAME PART II (recap)

A/N : I wrote the last recap in 2017, now it's time to explain what happened since then.

Xxxxxx

Ayasha, the Chessmaster was pushed to her limits. Nothing happened as planned. The Sin was able to forge a godslayer sword -KHAOS- that defeated the Primeval god of the Oceans. Leviathan was vanquished, and the dagger of Fate fell into Pride's hands. With the said dagger, he set Elpis free and saved the life of her human host. After he wiped Asma's memories of him and sent her back home, he focused on shielding and protecting his former beloved in the Underworld.

There, the all-seeing goddess of knowledge couldn't see them and would keep on looking for them through the fountain of truth. Powerful magic protected the Underworld, so powerful that even a primeval goddess couldn't overcome it. Pride counted on it to allow Elpis a proper recovery. After 2000 years spent locked in a human vessel, the goddess wasn't able to leave and was far more vulnerable to her sister's power and any other enemies they might have than needed. So Elpis stayed in the underworld.

The goddess and Pride spent some time together and they got to know each other. For the Sin, it was the first time he actually encountered her. He had a vague idea of who she was from the memories his older self kept of her, but this goddess was different. She piqued his interest and because she did, he decided to spend more time with her and get to know her. For Elpis, however, this was a shock. She learned that her beloved had been remade and the Pride that stood before her wasn't the one she fell in love with. It took a while for her to accept it but she eventually did.

She had the opportunity to think this through for a long while because Pride's attention was caught by his siblings' shenanigans. Greed, Gluttony, Envy and Wrath were trying to overthrow Pride and kill his faithful and loyal ally Lust. For millennia they attacked Pride and nearly killed him but since his last rebirth, Pride proved to be extremely powerful and with the help of his newly forged sword, he proved to be unbeatable. It took a long while, two human years before he destroyed their physical form and trapped their essence within his sword. It allowed for Elpis to grow in strength and recover a third of her energy.

She was now certain that she fell in love with this version of her beloved. She knew there was something better to build between the two of them. His ambition was only matched by hers and her desire to see him rule the Universe. Her desire for revenge, however, consumed the goddess who wanted to make her siblings pay for what they did to them. After all, Ishtar cursed her, made Pride forget about her, and Hades unmade him and remade him in order to have a perfect puppet to do his bidding. Their love was forbidden and crushed to the core but it survived and alongside it, fear crept into the heart of the two primeval gods responsible for this situation.

The relationship between Ayasha and Ishtar deteriorated ever since a conversation Ishtar had with his brother. The master of the ocean confused the new All-Father when he talked about Ayasha's devouring ambition. It was enough to make the god think, especially since Leviathan's death. Ishtar realized that Ayasha did manipulate him into killing their father and seize power. She could as well be pretending to be in love with him and concerned about Elpis. Eventually, she could have been manipulating him into doing her bidding and his ego was rubbed the wrong way. Since he refused to talk to his sibling, the two of them had not been seen together.

Ayasha was starting to be scared because she knew she had no protection left against the sin and her sister -if she didn't find a way to control Ishtar again-. As she was pushed to a corner, the goddess realized that she still had a card to play. Asma, the human vessel of her beloved sister could become her saving grace. She decided to attack her and kill the human, therefore tearing the sin and her sister's relationship apart and having Elpis killed by Pride. As the goddess of knowledge, she would search for ways to contain Pride and defeat him while they performed as she wanted.

But would it work?
