Pride and Asma : Gluttony's revenge part 2 : Second encounter

A/ N: he's closing in on his prey. Still patiently waiting for the right moment to intervene.
All usual disclaimers. There ! Getting this scene out of my head!

The Sin took the habit to observe his sibling. He noticed that Pride very often had to leave for unknown periods the human on her own. Of course, Pride being clever would never leave the place unprotected and she would not leave the house until his return. The problem with Pride who, unlike Gluttony wasn't used to Mankind, was that he didn't realize how much humans needed interaction with their peers. Not even serial killers could remain on their own and needed to go and hunt on their kin, so how could this budding artist NOT want to go and see the light, feel the wind on her face, freeze because it was very cold and feel snow fall on her frame? How could she not want to watch children have fun and parents watch them with worried eyes? How could she not want to go out when she was by herself for days or weeks? He wouldn't take her now, not too soon, not until Pride and she got used to their new place. They had to move and wouldn't stay in the same house for too long before the siblings could get a hold on them, so they never did. After a month or so, they changed their location.

Pride has been away for about a week now and Asma couldn't stand to be on her own for so long. After such an emotional week that reminded her of her late parents, she needed to be in touch with humanity once again. To see children smile at her and interact with someone. So she went away. He watched as she wore a large red and black coat that covered her neck and her knees, along with black wool pantyhoses and white boots. Her hair was hidden behind a huge beanie and her hands were protected with white gloves. He followed her as she walked towards the park that was a few blocks away, putting herself in danger from being seen or followed by her sibling's minions, but being oblivious to danger in the time being. The need for human interaction was way too strong for her to resist. So she went out. He followed her in that park, walking only a few miles away from her. She sat on a bench with a hot coffee in her hands. Her golden gaze searched for human presence in the empty park. It was very early so there wouldn't be many people walking except for dogs owners and joggers. Asma watched them run past her and drank her coffee cup quietly.

Her life had changed so much in so little time. She basically depended on the will of an entity she couldn't quite understand. She got to know Pride, or at least that side of him he presented to her. She was used to them arguing, to him getting angry, to her being scared or angry too. She was used to them making-up, rejoicing in the pleasure of the flesh which was the only moments both of them didn't argue. Being next to him, close to him were the only moments the painter felt safe by his sides. So of course, she'd seek for his companionship. Being alone, however, was a situation she less and less appreciated. Usually, she would have talked to her mother and explain how scared she was of dying and how heavy the responsibility she carried over her shoulders was. Her mother would have comforted her. She would have found the right words to make her feel better and she would have given her advice about her feelings for Pride. These were in constant conflict.

Indeed, she loved him. She was in love with him even though she didn't know if it was Stockholm Syndrome or actual feelings. Maybe it was her answer to the traumatism of being a vessel for a deity, maybe these were real. She had no clue and was confused. There were days she wanted to give up on everything and just be with him until her last days. But her life was meaningless and a deity needed to be set free from within her body. Asma knew she didn't really matter and he might just as well get rid of her once Elpis would be free. It saddened her, especially since she realized she needed to live her life even more. She spent so many years on her own, missing the warmth of a companion, missing a family of her own and missing friends to spend her life with. Pride's presence in her life forced her to think about her life and even better.... to actually live in the present and everyday as if it was her last. Another feeling she felt was fear. Utter fear of the monster Pride truly was. She didn't know yet, he seemed similar to her but it was her brain trying to figure him out. He looked human, he certainly shared some similarities. Deep inside, Asma knew he didn't. He was a lethal weapon, a bloodthirsty king, a conqueror. He couldn't feel for anyone else but himself, self-entitled bastard that he was. So why was he with Elpis ? Why did he want to be reunited with her ? Was it out of spite ? Was it because he truly cared ? She couldn't tell.

Gluttony finally sat next to her, looking dapper in his suit and his large dark green coat he threw on his shoulders. He was insensitive to the weather but he certainly didn't want to look too alien. He glanced at her, at her melancholic gaze. He studied her gracious frame, her soft curves, her pink hair and leaned a little forward. Asma didn't notice him at first, still lost in her thoughts but she then felt a very uneased feeling from deep within her guts. It was Elpis trying to warn her about a danger coming her way. She had recognized Gluttony and wanted the pink haired human to be careful with him. Asma eyes shifted from left to right before she finally turned her head and faced the SIN.

« May I help you? » She gently offered but he smiled at her instead. He was handsome, but not Pride-level Handsome. He wouldn't be forgotten but he lacked something Asma couldn't pinpoint. He grinned at her and nodded quietly. How easy it would have been for him to snatch her away from her home and drive Pride mad with anger, but it was too early, he wanted to toy a bit with her instead.

« You can. I was in a predicament as of today. You know what it is.Someone has stolen my heart. » He was an excellent liar, at least for humans ears, so Asma bought his served lie and nodded.

«I know a thing or two about unrequited love. I have been on both ends you know? » She said, still holding her cup and staring at the stranger on her side. Her heart was beating faster than usual and her gut-feeling still told her he was dangerous but she didn't listen to it.

« And in which end do you find yourself today? »

« Unrequited one. It's a complicated love story.....complicated only because I can't let go of it. What about you? » She said tucking her hair behind her ear.

« I fell in love with a cruel person. They would take and take and take without giving anything but crumbs and false hope. I fell hard for them and believed I might have a chance. Look at me now, I changed for them, I dressed different, I talked differently and I gave everything to them. »

He was seducing her with his talk, speaking of himself as if he was reading in her heart. Gluttony was observant, he knew how his older sibling operated. He took everything and never gave a thing, except maybe sexual gratification to his partners because it was a matter of pride for him to be the ultimate lover of each and every one of his partner. So, he gave but it was empty. There were no promises. It wasn't too much of a stretch for him to deduce that the poor human fell in love with the SIN. She looked at him with eyes wide open and then looked back at her cup of coffee.

« I see... I'm sorry you had to meet someone like that. » She said with a soft genuine tone.

She wasn't too different from Elpis, he could tell just by looking into her eyes. This human was kind and loving and he could feel the hints of hope in her voice and golden eyes. She was open to the other, comforting and caring and it made him smirk. He wanted everything Pride ever had and it included his lover. She put her hand on his shoulder and gently squeezed it.

« Thank you. How is it going for you? »

« Me? » -she asked, surprised, clutching at her cup tighter-

« You and that person. » He said moving closer to her. She felt a shiver go down her spine and slid back but felt she couldn't move back anymore. « Why do you want from them? »

« I.....Hope. I hope they would see me for who I am. I hope I would matter to them. I Hope... but I know I shouldn't. They can't see me. » She said in a strangled voice. Gluttony bent a little forward, invading her space and making her uneased and tensed.

« You are not safe with them. You should consider doing the thing I did to solve my issue. »

« What did you do? » He was so close, her heart was beating so fast. She nearly screamed when he came closer to her but held her breath back instead. She gasped and bit her bottom lip, panicked all of a sudden due to his presence near her and looked at him with eyes wide open. He grabbed her arm and pulled her against his, her forehead hitting against his.

« I killed my love. »

« You.... don't touch me. Don't touch me! » She said in a trembling voice. She didn't want him to come any closer to her. She felt a dangerous shiver run down her spine and felt tears filling her eyes. He held her tighter and whispered in her ear.

« I was jocking. I didn't kill their bodies. I killed my feelings for them. It took me time to open my eyes and I suggest you should do the same. The person you seem to love might not be the right one for you. Be careful. » He said with a grin as he released her hand and pulled away from her. Asma looked at him with eyes still wide from fear and bit her bottom lip. Unable to understand what had just happened.

« Do I know you? You look familiar. » His eyes flashed briefly, a purple color before he quietly shook his head.

« We haven't but we might meet again. Good luck with your unrequited love. » He said as he walked away from her. Asma looked at him and watched him go, unable to know what to say or do. It left her such an uneased feeling that she rushed back to the house and closed the door behind herself. Her heart was beating fast and she couldn't help but rushed towards the bathroom so she could puke her disgust. His advice, however, left a print in her mind and would fester slowly. Who was this person?
