Jaime Lannister x Bäahal: the Golden Lion and the Dragon

//Told you, I would think of our babies. <3 couldn't leave the Golden Lion out of it :D

It was a small touch, nothing that should have warranted a memory and yet it did. She remembered that night when she tried to reconcile the two estranged brothers and Jaime's anger and resentment exploded in her face. She should have seen it coming, Lord Tyrion would never tell her the whole truth and how he also participated in his strained relationship with his relatives. He did kill the father Jaime Lannister loved. He did deprive the Knight of the last parent he had and while she understood his motivations, the pain of losing a relative was also something she understood. She felt it in her bones, the day her mother was executed because she tried to save Bäahal. Could it be seen as a bonding moment between two enemies? that moment when Bäahal stood and hugged Jaime? Could it mean something?

It didn't mean anything for the knight, save for him learning that the princess was actually very soft deep down. It gave him an opportunity to ruin her, should the moment arise. And eventually, maybe, it also did him something good. She couldn't know, he didn't say anything. However, she knew what it did to /her/. She willingly walked towards him, willingly threw her arms around his frame and pulled him into a hug. She willingly tried to comfort him and while it seemed like nothing, it was everything for the princess. A moment of pure bonding, the moment she wanted something different for him. She wanted him to live. As silly as that sounded, she wanted her sworn enemy to survive the war. She wanted him to turn his life around, find true happiness and true love. She cursed Cersei that night, for having entangled her destiny to her brother and ruined any chance he had to be happy.

Or was it jealousy speaking? The princess struggled with how she truly felt for the Knight. She denied having more than respect for him -because it couldn't be more than just respect-, but the truth was, she was dreaming about his touch. she still had shivers go down her spine at the memory of his voice. She wished he could just.../see/ her, but it was delusional, a childish and selfish wish that could never come true because Lord Jaime's heart was forever Cersei's. And Bäahal wasn't Cersei. she would never be and therefore, it could never happen. he would never see her the way Jon sees Daenerys and it was a truth the princess accepted. it was what kept her from even admitting to herself that maybe, she did fancy the Knight. It was a reminder that he was a lost cause she should leave behind. Or help...or save, if he could be saved...

But it was the Golden Lion and he wouldn't want to be rescued from a situation he so willingly chose. So what was she left with? if not her own desire to at least take her sister to the throne and figure out what to do with the life she finally was allowed to live? Jaime Lannister would be a treasured memory, once the war is over. He would belong to the past or maybe the long list of regrets she already had. But for once, it felt nice to admit to herself that maybe, yes, maybe, she actually wanted the Lion to find comfort in her... whatever that meant.
