Chronicles of Lux and Tenebrae : first meeting

« I have finally found you. »

His voice was laced with emotion, trembling slightly as he couldn't believe his eyes. Lux was standing in front of him, her silver eyes were staring at the tall and lean pale figure in front of her. A face she didn't recognize due to her amnesia, but familiar nonetheless so she was comfortable by his side. The young man in front of her was handsome, otherworldly as they would say. His hair was short, white just like his skin -although, it was an uncanny shade, almost translucent-. His jet black eyes were unsettling to say the very least, dark, intense and filled with murderous intent. His face was sharp, chiseled by the gods, perfect, cold and cruel and yet.. his smile when he saw her was warm. It sent warmth down her spine and elicited a smile from her. He seemed to have been knowing her given the way he was staring at her. It felt as if he had been looking for centuries and finally found what he was looking for. It intrigued her. She tilted her head, the massive black curls fell on the left side as she stared at him with curiosity in the eyes.

« Do we know each other? » -Her voice was ethereal. Soft and sweet. Otherworldly even.-

It was her voice, soothing, nurturing, and warm. She might not remember everything, Tenebrae remembered her and her voice confirmed it was indeed Lux. He realized that if he was able to find her while visiting the Secret' Keeper, then those who attacked the Realm of all Beginnings would easily find her too. Vulnerable as she was, Tenebrae had to protect the only daughter of Life and ensure her safety until they could sort things out. He walked towards her, stepping closer to her face and gave her a sheepish smile. The softest he could manage and that didn't come across as sinister. She furrowed her brows and scratched the tip of her nose. Tenebrae was caught a little by surprise because she was beautiful and even after centuries without being by her side, she still found a way to move him. Her beauty was moving, disarming and he was left looking at her like she was one of the world's wonders.

« We do. Lux...I have been looking for you for centuries. When they attacked the realm of all beginnings, I heard you died. » She blinked at the mention of her death and shook her head.

« I can't be dead if I'm here... » She said, rubbing her taut belly. « Who are you again? »

« This is me... Tenebrae. Don't you remember? » He asked, furrowing his brows as he was starting to understand what was happening. She did die and was brought back to life. If she didn't remember him then Life might have had a good reason not to restore her daughter's memory. He held Lux' hands and stroked the back of her ebony fingers with his alabaster ones. She didn't recognize him, even after he said her name but there was still this familiarity with him that made her trust him. « It's okay if you don't remember me. It will come back to you. Your body is of divine essence which means you're recovering right now. Your memories would return to you and we will know who attacked you and how to stop them. »

« I am not sure I understand... But you seem familiar. I have been walking the Earth, forever outliving the people who cared for me without understanding why. I don't remember who I am.. but you seem to know me. »

« I do. » He said, his lips trembling as he held her fingers harder. Sparkles were created from just their touch, sparkles that felt familiar and yet unknown to the goddess. «I will protect you until you recover your strength and memory. »

« What ?.... wait.. Where are you taking me? What are we going to do? »

She asked, removing her fingers from his. Tenebrae groaned and sighed. He didn't even know that himself. He wished that seeing Lux would have brought her memories back and that from this moment they would be able to move forward but it didn't work like this. He found her, she didn't remember him. He found her and she barely understood who she was and what her real purpose was. She was no more than any of the mortals who lived on Earth. A person who walked the Earth without a sense of purpose. He wished she would remember so that he could save Life. He wished she could remember so they could resume where they left. He wished.. oh Tenebrae had so many wishes. He was frustrated and she noticed it on his beautiful face. A face like an angel, a pale angel of Death. How could she forget him? She noticed the sadness in his jet black eyes, the weight of her loss he carried on his shoulders and the relief and joy he felt when he first saw her. She wanted to share his emotions, feel happy to see him too, feel relieved but nothing came out of it. She couldn't remember him and therefore, couldn't feel happy to see him again.

« I will take you away from this place. We're going to visit the keeper of secrets. »

« You are talking gibberish to me. » She said, arms crossed over her chest.

« We have to move Lux. If I was able to find you easily, anyone can. I need to protect you and save your mother. »

«......... »

« Do you trust me? » He asked, outstretching his hand towards her. She glanced at him and sighed deeply and put her hand on his. « Good. »

He snapped his fingers and both disappeared. He took her to the darkest place on Earth, where he used to spend time when he walked the Earth: the Fortress.
