Pride x Elpis: Moonlight Sonata

A/ N: <3 Literally just after listening to it! I'm just musing around.

XXXX

Elpis heard the sweet sound of piano notes tearing the silence of their penthouse. She woke up alone in their bedroom, with the rich ceiling for her only companion. The sheets had gone cold, which informed the goddess that her lover had left the bed for at least an hour or more. It made her sigh and sit at the edge of the bed. Her thin fingers clenched against the soft silky fabric of their sheets and she furrowed her brows. Why was he so distant? Was it because he was still upset at her words? Comparing him to his older-self was unfair, and she knew it was, but you couldn't exactly ask someone who spent millennia locked into human vessels to forget about their love. It lasted 2000 years, how could she forget this version of Pride? How could she not want to find him again? Shock and glory waltzed when Elpis was set free.

She was both excited and horrified by what she found out once she was released. Her pride, the one and only Pride she ever knew was gone forever. Unmade. Destroyed by Hades not so long after she was cursed. The version of the sin who fell for her was no more and the cold empty Superbia she had before her, didn't feel for her. He didn't know her. The memories he had, memories that came from his older-self embers were nothing but a movie of a life he did not know. So yes, the goddess of Hope was distraught when she was faced with the harsh truth. Distraught and defeated at first. But still, it hurt. She thought that maybe a night outside of the Underworld would change his mind. She was hoping that spending some time together, in their own bubble might actually help them rekindle their connection. It didn't work. Not really. They had a fine dinner, something Pride tolerated because the food was pleasant and they spent most of the time talking about her plan for the Primeval gods. Things were pleasant when he sat next to her and started to acknowledge her presence, things went well until she mentioned his older self. He ended the dinner and left for the penthouse, angry and hurt. Well... as hurt as a sin could be.

Music, however, announced something good. He would play any instruments for her, in the ancient times when mankind was still trying to become something greater. He would play any instruments that had a pleasant sound, on days he didn't feel like talking to the curious young goddess. Music was his way to convey his emotions so she always paid attention. The music he played tonight was filled with anger, and dread. It was anguish made the sound that penetrated her heart and shook it to its core. It was choking her neck, applying such pressure that she had to hold onto her heart and breathe at a steady pace. Then silence...heavy and uncomfortable that prompted the goddess to stand up and wrap a short blue silky bathrobe around her curvaceous body. She left the bedroom to walk towards the living room where she found her beloved. He started another tune, a softer tune. As she walked towards him, the music matched her pace. It was slow and sensual. It was sweet and soft. It was....light and hopeful. Just like her. He was talking to her. Elpis eyes glowed brightly as she finally stood in front of him. Here he was, his eyes burning like two purple flames as he watched her slowly walk towards him. Her ebony hands gently traced the piano and she leaned against it.

« Your music sounds better. » -She greeted with. Pride chuckled to himself and kept playing.-

« I guess I am not angry anymore. » -He grinned at the goddess while his fingers kept hitting the notes.-

« I can hear it. » She whispered, slowly bending forward. « It's been a while since you played an instrument. »

She said, her lips trembled as she wasn't sure of his reaction. He could snap at any moment and the pink haired goddess wasn't sure of how to react, should he snap at her. She twirled her fingers around some of her pink locks and closed her eyes as the sin kept playing for her. The music was still pleasant, calm and relaxed just as their relationship was at this instant. He was petty, for sure, but also unpredictable. He took his time to think about his situation with Elpis and understood that she needed time to adjust to this new reality. She didn't mean to hurt him, he knew and their argument didn't make her leave his sides either. So he decided to let her know he wasn't mad at her. He shifted on his seat, giving some space for the ebony goddess to sit on. As she did, Elpis felt relieved. The Sin had invited her near him and the way he was playing betrayed how open he felt at this instant. His anger truly was gone.

« Pride... Are you... Are you still ma-- » He shushed her with a kiss on her lips. A kiss he stole from her when she wasn't paying attention. His lips felt good against hers, so she returned the kiss without thinking, but it made her heard jump against her ribcage as she quietly shifted her gaze from his face to the piano.

« Shhhh, Elpis, listen. » -There was nothing more to add.-

He focused on the melody he was playing. Inviting, sweet and soft, just like she was. Just like she felt to him. Elpis didn't say a word, instead, she listened to the melody he created for her. She listened to the words he couldn't say. He was curious, she could feel it in her bones. He was confused as well by this person he used to know and remembered but couldn't feel anything for. He was frustrated and upset at all that was taken away from him, but he felt relieved she was still here. He somehow, felt relieved she still felt this way for him. She took a deep breath and looked at him again, her eyes still glowing brightly as she looked at him. Here he was, her beloved. It didn't matter if the one she used to know was long dead and gone. This new version of him still shared the same core. He still was /her/ beloved. She moistened her bottom lip and wrapped her arms around his arm. Pride quietly stopped playing and looked at the goddess.

« Please, don't stop...It's been.. a while. »

« I'd rather talk with you right now since you're awake; » He said, tucking some of her pink locks behind her ear. « I will let it slide this time, but you have to remember that I am not my older self. You cannot ask me to be like him. You cannot expect me to be like him. You can't... »

« I know... I know it's just... I need time Superbia. I need time that's all. » -She admitted with a small voice as her eyes averted from left to right.- « I still feel that I am betraying your older self if I ever... Stop thinking of him. » She confessed while her eyes focused on him again. She bit her bottom lip and quietly dropped her face. Pride cupped her chin and made her look at him again.

« I understand. But you are not betraying Pride for I am Pride. You said you'd always find me, and here's your chance to do so. »

« I know...I will. » She repeated, leaning into his touch as he cupped her cheek and stroked the warm tear that rolled on her cheeks. « I will... »
