Chronicles of the primeval gods: Life and Death of Ayasha: Waiting

Chronicles of the primeval gods: Life and Death of Ayasha: Waiting

// She was speaking to me.

Ayasha walked closer to her brother. He seemed at peace, sleeping as if there was no trouble in the world. His perfect form was laying on the bed, with a thin sheet thrown nonchalantly on his lap. She let her green eyes roam over his frame, up to his face, and calmly smiled at him. Their relationship got better over the weeks and she could claim that things got even better than what they used to be. He surprisingly took better than she expected the truth that motivated her actions. He was aware of her devouring ambition, and her desire to become the ultimate ruler. He was aware of her hatred for Elpis, and more importantly her fear of her. He listened to the blonde goddess because he could see that she wasn’t fully wrong. Their family had been a mess from the very beginning. Siblings who didn’t get along well with each other, siblings who were favored by their parents, siblings who wanted the throne for themselves. When Elpis was born, that was the last straw that broke the camel’s back. Gaea, the All-Mother, only gave her attention to her love-child and they all decided that they would protect her « purity ».  It took a while for Ayasha to discover the truth behind the apparent « love » her parents had for their last child.

It wasn’t love. It was fear. It was fear of the uncanny power that child had. The birth had been kept a secret, so they couldn’t see what was being done to the child. Gaea and her husband Khaos, worked together to lock the potential of the child, hoping that it will keep her away from having too much power and overthrow them. Ayasha discovered the truth one day, by hearing their parents discuss the matter after Elpis went to destroy the Sumerian Pantheon, much to the surprise of everyone. Khaos feared that their spell couldn’t contain their daughter’s powers and that she would eventually truly become herself. He wanted to find a way to deal with the issue, a way that didn’t involve killing his beloved daughter but Gaea determined that they shouldn’t be scared of such an insignificant event. She wanted to protect her father’s reputation, which was a sign that their grooming and upbringing worked. Shocked by the knowledge, the Goddess decided to use it to her advantage. Her mother was a coward and a liar. She didn’t love Elpis nor did she love her children. She loved her husband and feared her last born. And if there was fear, then there was a weakness.

Ayasha let the fingers of her left hand run over her blonde locks. Her face was somber, closed off as she was thinking of the upcoming war. Ishtar realized that his rebellion against their father was the only way to free their family from the control of their parents. It was a natural way to overcome one’s father and become the father instead. A natural order, the fulfillment of his prophecy. Ishtar understood that they lived a false life, filled with lies and deceit. He understood the thirst for acknowledgment from his little sister and her desire for knowledge and truth. He understood that Elpis had to be killed. She was far too dangerous to be left alive. Far too dangerous to allow them to expand their domination across the universe. She had a devouring ambition, and a dark side none of them really knew. Ayasha was cautious and worried. She wanted to be prepared as much as she could but knew that there was a lot she couldn’t have access to. Her best shot would be to hold Asma hostage and kill her in public, causing distraught to both Elpis and Pride and separating the two of them. She chewed at her bottom lip and pinched the bridge of her nose. Not everything was lost and they still could have the upper hand if they knew how to navigate between what they knew and what they could speculate about. It was only a matter of time. And perhaps, for once, Time would be on her side.
