GoT regular: Sobering up

Tyrion's words echoed through the princess's mind as her maid brushed her hair. Bäahal was well aware that the hardest was yet to come. It was not enough to be betrothed, it was not enough to observe the rules to the letter. That part was the easiest one. The hardest was the rejection from the noble houses. Jaime was not exactly the most beloved man in Westeros, if anything, he was hated by most of the noble houses. He was the kingslayer, an oathbreaker, a man who couldn't be trusted. The fact he had not been killed baffled them. The fact he had even been able to be betrothed to the princess would be perceived as an insult to the injury.  Bäahal was aware of the upcoming fight she would have to put in order to protect her beloved Jaime but it still didn't sit well with her that at this moment, at what was supposed to be the best months of her life, she would have to deal with even more hatred and anger.

She wanted the best for Jaime and she also wanted to take the opportunity to rekindle her relationship with her sister. She knew how much it took from Daenerys to grant her blessings and Bäahal wanted to show her gratitude. The future was bright, complex but bright and Bäahal believed that she would manage to fight for both her family and the man she loved. It was a sobering moment for the princess who realized just how far she had come. She survived a siege and fought tooth and nail to protect civilians and her House. She went from being a slave who sought her freedom to a free woman with a family. She discovered herself, her resilience, her tenderness...She was finally put together and she felt proud of herself. She was proud of herself and even more so, she was so happy to see his smile, his beautiful smile.
