TWD: Sacrifice

//All usual disclaimers

Captivity wasn't the worst for Asma. No, she already knew Negan and his Saviors were shitty long before meeting them. Asma dealt with shitty. She was born with the wrong cards of the deck and was used to being screwed over by Life. Her family wasn't the most loving, her former lovers were abusive and if it wasn't for the "Zpocalypse", she could have been dead. Asma lost each and every member of the crew she gathered when they escaped from Chicago and she didn't know how to cope with their deaths. Ahmed, Abel, Sun.. they all died at some point and the only one left was the first person she met when the apocalypse started. Amelia. By the time her crew was destroyed, she had joined Rick's group and managed to secure a good life for Abel, Amelia, and herself. They had time to mourn for Ahmed and Sun's deaths. They had time to imagine a future for themselves. Abel made his move on Asma who remained indecisive because she had never met someone who wanted to love her the way he did. as in healthily.

Captivity wasn't the worst. She endured hell already. No, it was the absence of her best friend that was killing Asma. She sacrificed herself so Amelia wouldn't die at the hands of the saviors and agreed to become one of Negan's wives. She bargained her way into being allowed to scavenge with the other saviors. She refused to go on racket missions but never minded exploring abandoned areas nearby for food and eventually survivors to "save". Negan refused she use any guns or knives but she was fine using a baseball bat like she did long before going to Alexandria. He joked about it, saying that she was his soul mate because both used the same weapon, although, the baseball bat was modified. Being outside helped Asma forget the predicament she was in. It helped her forget she was in fact held captive and wasn't allowed to see her friend because she trespassed on Negan's property. It only took her so far because Asma felt it in her bones. Amelia wasn't there.

Negan noticed Asma was losing enthusiasm. He observed for a while and came to the conclusion that Asma was missing her best friend. Of course, a man of his word, he could never allow Amelia around his place but he knew that Asma would want to see her, so he considered allowing meetings, in exchange for something valuable. He would challenge Asma to find him something of value and in exchange would grant her a meeting once a week with Amelia. It only was a floating idea so he wasn't sure about it. He found her sitting at the edge of the bed, her arms on her lap as she was staring at her baseball bat. Her mind was filled with memories of her friend.

"Here I was thinking you'd be happy to see me." Negan teased her as he closed the door behind him. She looked up at his face and snarled.

"You're not exactly what I call a good surprise."

"Aaaww you're cranky?" She didn't answer, prompting him to draw a chair near her and sit in front of her. "I asked you a question." His tone betrayed his growing lack of patience, which prompted her to look up at him and snarl some more.

"I'm not cranky. I'm just not in the mood for your little mind games." She said, putting the baseball bat on the bed and crossing her legs.

"I thought you would be happy with scavenging." She shrugged. "What more could you possibly need?" He curbed a brow. "Oh.. you want your friend. the one who tried to kill me, right? Amelia is that right?" She became tense and looked up at Negan's face.

"We have a deal. I stay here and you don't touch--"

"Then do your fucking part! I came to see you, so drop the droopy eyes and the angry snarl, darling."

She swallowed a lump and nodded. After all, he was right, he kept his part of the deal, and she had to keep hers. Amelia's face flashed in her mind and she closed her eyes for a while. She was doing it for her. so she could survive and have more laughter and a chance to have a normal life. she was doing it for her.
