regular GoT: A weight on her shoulder

Since her return, Bäahal took a habit of eating in her own room. She didn't feel confident enough to eat in the same room as Daenerys and Jon. She knew it would have been a rather cold and frustrating atmosphere, with the three of them not really knowing what to do or say to lighten up the mood. They could still be talking about dragons, or about the wedding.. either way there would still be a huge elephant in the room that would not have been adressed. Bäahal wasn't ready to face both of them and to keep a straight face, hiding how broken her heart was. She had a conversation with Jon, a few days after she returned to King's Landing.

Despite her desperate attempts at hiding her true feelings, Jon was observant enough to notice she was dancing around the truth, focusing her attention on him instead. The conversation began with betrayal and how he coped with the emotions that followed the event that led him to being stabbed to death. Jon took his time to talk to her, explain how he felt regarding those who wronged him and how their deaths didn't ease his soul at all but was necessary to set an example. He had blood on his hands, but he also was given a second chance by the god of light. Those feelings were conflicting but the only certainty he could have was that it didn't bring him peace. Daenerys did. Her love did. his family welcoming him with arms wide open did.

The conversation kept going and ultimately, Bäahal was able to confide in him about Jaime's role in her survival. it was one fleeting moment, just one, but Jon was able to see that she felt more than gratitude toward the Knight. He could tell she was holding back the whole time, swallowing words she knew she couldn't utter, not even to her relative who became a good friend of her overtime. Still, it was telling. Bäahal was in love witht he Knight and she was worried about his future since he returned her home. Jon could see the sadness in her eyes whenever she mentioned Daenerys and it didn't take him long to understand what was really happening here. Bäahal fell in love with the Knight who seemingly fell for her too and the tension between Daenerys and her sister stemmed from this. Dany rejected this union, and the pair was trying their best to protect one another.

He remembered when Jaime came to him, to expose him the plans he thought of to sort the Redwyn house out and have them admit they tried to kill Bäahal in retaliation for Daenerys' coronation and her upcoming wedding to the bastard of the house Stark. -Despite knowing he wasn't a bastard, they still referred to him as one, behind his back- Jon remembered how passionate and determined the knight had been about the princess safety. He heard the stories of the siege and how Jaime didn't even hesitate to rush towards the princess. How he cared for her when she was in a coma and recovering. How delicate the knight was.. rumours were fast and he could see they weren't all exagerrated.

Jon wished for his sibling to come and eat with them but he understood that the tension between Daenerys and Bäahal would benefit at least a couple more days without the fan emboldening the flames.  Daenerys would come around. he knew it somehow. She was not forgiving of the crimes committed by her former enemies. She couldn't possibly forgive what Jaime did out of love for his twin sister nor what Cersei and the rest of the foolish family did to her. she couldn't possibly forgive the crimes against the Stark and the pain the Lannister brought to her fiance. She couldn't even dare think of the pain they could cause Bäahal, consciously or not. so she was on a fence.

Besides, the family still had to repair their relationship with the rest of the world and that was Kyra's job to do. Jon still thought that she would come around, once she realized that the relationship was genuine and feelings were real. Perhaps she would be moved by the truth of Bäahal's emotions, or perhaps it wouldn't change anything. Jon couldn't predict her reaction, but he understood that Bäahal might have felt as if she was carrying the weight of the world on her shoulders.  Tyrion thought so too. He had tried to talk to the princess, more than once, but always she dramatically told him about how desperate she was of her current situation. She hated the fact her sister didn't want to hear her out, or even see by herself the truth.

She didn't know how to bring the topic back nor if her sister would bless their union but on top of it, her duty towards her family was overwhelming her. She would never betray Dany nor wouldn't she put her best interest above anything else, but this tiny part of herself, that one selfish part of herself wanted and wished to at least hold onto the happiness she had with Jaime. And this was breaking her heart to see that even the person she loved the most wasn't supporting her. that had her feel alone, torn between her duty and her love. between her desires and those of others. torn between risking it all and saving lives. torn....
