TB: Photographs

Sara's home was famously lacking personal pictures. Only a handful existed and was plastered all over her fridge and started from the moment she left the orphanage with Dotty. One picture depicted them at the beach, it was a candid shot taken by a tourist photographer and a genuine testimony of the bond between the blonde manager and the singer. Sara was happy in the picture, laughing even and Dotty seemed far less stressed than she was these days. Aside from this cliché, the few she kept with her all immortalized her success and personal victories. There was a picture of her in her recently acquired apartment with the keys in her hands. Another was taken at an award show, showing her receiving her award. All the pictures of her life, the one before her parents' murders, the one with her partners, all of them had disappeared, because Sara just threw them away. It hurt her to look at them and see how unhappy she was in these relationships. It was already bad enough to see them in the news whenever her exes were mentioned, she refused to keep them in her most private place. They had already done enough damage as it was and Sara didn't want to give them more room to hurt her. She still remembered the way Brett trashed some of their pictures together during an angry fit, how he tore them apart or froze them just so he could break them into a million pieces in front of her. He abused those memories like he abused her and the young woman refused to relive it by keeping their pictures up her walls. So she got rid of everything that could remind her of them, anything that could trigger her, which left her walls bare and her fridge with scarce pictures of her life.

However, something compelled her to change her stance regarding pictures. Homelander... John.. He took the initiative to have his picture taken with her, during one of their dates and she loved looking at it so much on her phone that she decided to print it and frame it. It was a simple picture, it was just them enjoying a day out at their favorite place but it meant everything to Sara. He went where she wanted to go, allowed himself to discover something new and something he enjoyed, embraced living the anonymous life...and he even took pictures with her, as she was! with freckles all over her body. He welcomed her. How could she not love the man? Well.... Did she love him? Sara quickly realized that she had feelings for Homelander the day she went to the Tower. She had not heard from him for days, had not seen him for days and that alone made her feel restless. She didn't like the idea that their time together had just been a fluke and that he had moved on. The idea irked the woman, it hurt deep and it made her realize that perhaps, there was more to it than just a great chemistry during sex. She bought him clothes, was thinking about taking him to new places, and helped him discover himself in a different setting than the one he grew up with. She was in love with him since she imagined a future where she could meet his son, where they could spend time together, where...they could simply be.  So, yes, she was in love with him and the photograph was proof of these feelings. So she gleefully framed the picture and placed it in the dining room, on the table where she would take all of her meals with or without him but with them together in that picture.

Oh, Sara was head over heels for John.

She was what we call: "In love."
