GoT: Jaime and Bäahal: reminiscing

The silver princess was staring at the ocean. She was enjoying the gentle fresh breeze that was blowing over her face and the warm sun shining bright. Her purple hues stared at the horizon, as she was trying to guess when they would soon see King's landing's shores. She glanced at her right and noticed the Golden Lion talking to some of his soldiers. He was overseeing her security details but was too far away from her to be able to hear him clearly. She still couldn't stop herself from smiling to herself. She was enjoying those small peaceful moments she could take from this trip. Seeing Jaime almost every day, sleeping in his bed almost every night and having lunch with him was a blessing for the silver haired princess. There, she could truly get to know him, discuss things they never had to talk about before, such as his favourite colour or his favourite memories. There she could imagine what life could be if they were allowed to be together. Her heart stung as the thought filled her mind and  she took a deep breath. There was a chance that nothing good could happen to  them because her sister would never allow for their union to happen. She knew Dany hated the Lannisters with a passion. She hated them for hurting Jon's family and himself. She hated them for trying to kill her and even more for all the pain they caused to this land. Cersei and her children, the Sparrow and his zealots, the  pain and misery suffered by commoners.. the list went on and on and Bäahal knew that the only reason Jaime wasn't dead was because he was imprisoned by Cersei when he returned to her.

Over the weeks as they were preparing the war against the night king, Daenerys was able to see for herself that Jaime was more than just a goon following Cersei's orders. He was a man of honour, he came all alone to fight the undead and he did so bravely. She was grateful for his presence at Winterfell and for helping them defeat the enemy yet, she still had reservations about him. It spared his life, after the Last War but Jaime didn't earn the queen's trust. Bäahal was wondering how her sister might feel, especially since she might have heard of the siege and her near-death. Would it be enough for her to know that Jaime ran to her rescue upon hearing she was in danger? would it be enough for her to forgive him and accept their budding romance? the silver princess didn't know and her quiet and calm violet gaze turned into a tempestuous one. she was troubled.  A sigh escaped from her lips and she averted her gaze from Jaime to the ocean once again.  Dany would be grateful, of course she would, but she would never allow them to be together. She would rationalize that all he did was just proving his loyalty to the family and nothing more. All he did was earn his life and nothing more. As she closed her eyes and let a couple tears run down her cheeks, the ebony princess tried to think of something else. Of course, Dany would be terrified; she probably regretted letting her sister go on  her personal adventures and had to fight against her very urges to ride her dragons and destroy those who tried to kill her sister.  Perhaps she did grieve, thinking her sister was dead? Bäahal didn't know. She could only suppose.

It sent a shiver down her spine and made her rub her arms together. Why was her happiness conditioned? Why did she have to choose between her loyalty to her sister and the desire to live a happy life with the love of her life? Why was it so difficult for others to accept that Jaime was a man who also deserved to be loved? They all wanted him dead, or punished for his wrong doings or what his family did. Lady Kyra was trying to give their family a brand new reputation  but she was fighting against lords and old geezers who didn't want to change tradition. and rejected her authority. Maybe she'd need to have Jaime by her side, to protect her from anyone who would want to overthrow her, or maybe she had enough loyal soldiers to protect her when Jaime was not there. Still.. that didn't change the fact the happiness of two required a great sacrifice.  Maybe those five days left would only be the most she could get with Jaime and she wanted to go further, truly give herself to him. She had already made up her mind in her cabin a couple days ago. Maybe loving Jaime wasn't the right decision to the rest of the world, but it was to her and it was enough. For once in her life she had something good going on and she wanted to protect it at all cost. Jaime was a man with flaws. He was a man who hurt others, but he always did it out of love and he was capable of doing the right thing, when he wasn't under the influence of Cersei.

He moved past her, already. He mourned for her death, found a new purpose and stuck with it. Why wouldn't they give him a benefit of the doubt and see for themselves?  Their love could prove the entire kingdom wrong, Bâahal believed. it could show that sometimes life could take a different turn and it was okay. She wiped out a couple more tears and tucked some silver strands behind her right ear. Maybe everything would be cut short in the next five days, but the most important was the present and what she wanted to do. She needed Jaime to know that she had chosen him, as her lifemate. she had chosen him and wouldn't want anyone else. She needed him to know that she was ready to do whatever it took to make him happy and protect him too.  She knew they didn't always see eye to eye and he thought she'd be better with someone else, but that was rubbish and they both knew it. she tried already, but each and every of her thoughts took her back to Jaime. Sometimes, you couldn't force destiny, you couldn't change it and she certainly wouldn't change it. she wanted Jaime and whether or not they would be allowed to be together was throw off of the window at the moment, logic be damned! she wanted to be with him even if it was for the next five days.
