TVD : Plot Twist (Klaus/ Witch!Asma/Stefan)

A/N: All usual disclaimers. Also, this is an AU, Freyja doesn't exist, some storylines were changed as well to fit my ideas. Caroline is still with Tyler and not Stefan for example. I'm still exploring my little witch and her dynamic with the Originals and some of the TVD cast. Klaus and Witch!Asma doesn't get along very well. She hates and fears him but has a lot of respect for Elijah and because they share a common past, he's a little ambiguous as for whether or not he actually cares about her. Usually and for the past 800 years, Elijah visited her and it's the first time Klaus ever showed up. (first encounter after 800 years). But I both want to introduce her shitty dynamic with Klaus and her meeting with Stefan.

« Well well well, if this isn't the little Witch. »

« Klaus? » Her voice broke as she recognized the sound of his voice.

It'd been almost a year since Asma decided to step outside of her shop and meet new people. She was terrified to make the first step but Willa had made it easier for her to go outside and make new friends. The Mystic Grill became a familiar place with familiar faces. The nights Willa didn't work, it was Matt who serviced the witch. He was curious about her, didn't really remember when it was that he first heard of her but he knew the herbalist shop she owned to have been there from before he was born. He rarely went to the place but the rumors said the shop and its owner had been around for a little more than a century. All of these were legends but Matt was familiar with the supernatural and he was wondering if she was a vampire or something else.

He still liked her company, her kindness, and gentle nature drew him towards her. She spent most of her time observing people and exchanging most words with Willa, Elena and Bonnie when they addressed her -and weren't caught up in their drama with the Salvatore brothers- and now him. Tonight, however, wasn't one of those nights when he serviced the witch. Asma was not very happy with the evening. She had styled her hair in a loose bun and was wearing a cute little black dress with silver jewels with a moon motif going on. It had been an emotional wreck train of a week for her, especially since she encountered the very troubled Damon Salvatore with whom the first exchange was heated and violent. Then it was Elijah not visiting her that saddened Asma. He promised to come share a meal with her so they would be able to learn a little more about one another and deepen their relationship but he never came. He stood her up which hurt Asma even more. Was it because she told him she was in love with him? Was it for another reason? As she lamented, the bartender froze minutes before Asma heard the cold commanding voice of the Original.

« In the flesh. » He replied, his fingers dangerously stroking the back of her neck.

« What on Earth are you doing... here? »

She asked as she straightened on her seat and swallowed a lump. She couldn't believe her ears. It had been more than 800 years since she saw the Hybrid Michaelson and since seeing him always was bad news, the witch felt panic build up inside of her. She chewed at her bottom lip, quickly thinking about a way to not escalate violence so the humans in the bar would be spared Niklaus infamous violent outbursts. So she turned around to face him. Klaus was still tall and handsome, his eyes were still intense and felt like daggers piercing through her skin. He gave her shivers and goosebumps covered her skin. The reaction was instantaneous. She hated Klaus because he was responsible for her demise. He was responsible for her suffering that lasted 800 years and the curse that was cast upon her. Of course, she did help Elijah, but she did it because she owed him her life AND because they became friends over the centuries. Klaus... Asma wasn't even sure if she wanted to forgive him. Her eyes glowed brightly and she crossed her arms over her chest.

« As much as I would not deny a pleasant banter with you, my dear, I came here for urgent matters. Matters that I know would be of your interest. » She was giving him the cold shoulder. Her face was dark and her features sharper than usual. Her plump lips were pursed but her shaking body betrayed her fear and his acute senses picked that up. She was scared of him and rightfully so. Despite her saving his life 800 years ago by Elijah's request, she actually heard the stories about his legendary slaughters and the pain he inflicted his enemies. She knew the reputation but didn't doubt his ability to bring pain and death in his wake. So Asma threaded carefully here.

« An urgent matter? » She repeated, lifting a brow to mark her disbelief in his words. Fair enough, she couldn't believe everything she was presented with.

« A family matter. Our mutual acquaintances are in trouble and I know that one of them visited you very often for.. services you gave him. I came to request a similar service for their benefit. »

« Elijah is in danger ? » she whispered, losing the cold attitude to allow some panic in her heart. Klaus didn't care about Asma, why would he? He never saw her throughout her time as an outcast, he never followed Elijah during his visits so why would he come if not for an important matter. She looked at his face and noticed how tight his features became. She was right, Elijah was in danger and needed her help with a spell. « What is it about? What did you do this time? »She asked, forgetful for a minute that he could actually kill her even if she put up a very decent fight. Her magic wasn't meant to harm but to protect and defend mostly. She never developed her ability to arm save for minor telekinesis and a little bit of pyrokinesis which helped in time of dire need but it exhausted her more than the protection and healing spell so she never developed these skills.

« I suggest you watch your tongue wench. What happened is none of your concern and if you dare question me again, you might meet a less pleasant side of myself. You wouldn't want to harm those innocent souls here now, would you? »

« You don't need to threaten me, Klaus. I will help Elijah. » She assured him while she wrapped her arms around her waist. Everything was becoming too overwhelming and of course, she should get a grip but she wasn't able at the moment. She gasped and stiffened as panic settled in.

« Good. Start right now then. »

« I can't...I-i can't right now. It's going to have to wait until tomorrow. »

« NO!  Haven't you HEARD? He NEEDS your help! » He said as he grabbed her arm. Too stunned to perform telekinesis, Asma stared at Klaus with eyes wide open. She didn't know how to react and looked at his hand holding hers so hard that it left a bruise on her skin.

« The lady said no. » A familiar voice echoed in the room as a slender and tall figure walked closer to the couple. Asma glanced at the man who arrived right in time and blinked as she noticed it was Stefan Salvatore himself. Klaus laughed and shook his head.

« This is none of your business Stefan. I am dealing with the witch about serious matters you wouldn't comprehend. »

« Or maybe I would. She said she couldn't come with you and I won't let you force her to do anything she doesn't want to. Let her go. »

« Or what? Or what Stefan? One gesture of me and your life is over. » He said threateningly. Asma remained speechless, her throat being too tight to allow her to speak anything and she stopped struggling, knowing it was pointless due to the hybrid's strength. Stefan didn't flinch, in fact, he moved forward and invaded Klaus personal space, to the point that the Original furrowed his brows, and took one step behind, pulling Asma with him and forcing her to her feet.

« I don't think you would actually want to do it. Not because you like me but because Caroline would despise you if you ever tried. I know you want her affection so be wise and let the lady go. She would come and help you as she said, but can't you see she isn't in any shape capable of helping you tonight? » Klaus growled, Stefan had a point. He wanted to woo Caroline and wouldn't want to ruin a chance for her so he released Asma's wrist and gave Stefan a dark glare before he looked at Asma and shot him a darker glare.

« You better keep your word and help Elijah. I give you until tomorrow to get yourself together. » He said, nodding before he left the bar.

Asma exhaled loudly when he left, realizing that she actually held back her breath. She put her hand on her chest and turned on her heels to stare at Stefan who walked closer to her but stayed at a respectful distance. They hadn't met officially and he didn't want to frighten the witch. He knew about her thanks to Damon who mentioned her a few times and Elena who asked him if he ever noticed the herbalist shop a century ago. Stefan observed her from afar and intended to talk to her this evening and was given an opportunity when Klaus came and threatened her. He cleared his throat and outstretched his hand towards her.

« I don't think we've been introduced properly. » -she shook his hand and nodded quietly-

« We haven't. » She answered, sighing deeply and sitting back on her chair. The bartender came back with another cocktail and she gulped it down.

« I'm Stefan Salvatore. I think you've met my brother. »

« Damon? Indeed I have. I appreciate what you did. I wasn't expecting Klaus, of all people, to pay me a visit. » She said rubbing her tight throat.

« Do you know him? Do you. » He trailed off, unsure of what question he actually wanted to ask. Of course, she might have known him, he heard the conversation and he knew she used to know Elijah. How ? He had no clues just yet and it wasn't the time to ask questions like that but she knew him.

« Let's say we have a relationship I'd rather not have. I didn't choose this. I didn't choose him but he happened to me. I guess he happened to you as well.  I am Asma Jensen by the way. » She said as she took another sip of her cocktail.

« Do you want me to take you home? Just to make sure you're alright? » She looked at him and grabbed a rebellious pink lock.

« I guess you can. »

It was the first contact. It wasn't obviously the best way to meet someone and both Asma and Stefan needed to adjust to each other but it was a beginning. Asma was very cautious about new people, Bonnie discovered when they spent their first time together. Asma was awkward with people but quickly got a hand at them. Elijah had been her only true relationship that lasted for quite some time. Stefan might have been the brother with an easier contact with others, that didn't make him more at ease socializing with people. He knew that he couldn't leave her on her own, especially not with a homicidal maniac like Klaus. Besides, Stefan actually was curious about the original's reasons to come to Mystic Falls. She accepted to be taken home and they bonded over a cup of tea.
