What could have been part 1 : Elpis x Pride

A/N: yes I'm going to write two short scenes with our two stories! I just wanted something nice and sweet for everyone, things that aren't. Things that might not be, but things that could have been. First part is Elpis expressing her frustration in the form of a dream. The second one would be a dream Oya would have in the future that would make her wake up in a good mood (although slightly bitter)

Elpis was holding Pride's hand as they both took a walk to the busy park. She was looking beautiful in her floral dress and big straw hat that contained her pink hair. Since her return, Pride tried his best to spend as much time as he could with her. She couldn't stay in his realm, the Underworld for too long without being harmed by its nefarious atmosphere. She was a being made of light and the Underworld was made of darkness and evil, besides he couldn't possibly lock her in the Underworld until the end of times. In his private quarters, spells allowed her to be safe and prevented his siblings to feel her presence but that was the best he could do to protect his beloved. On Earth, she was easily noticeable and any of her siblings could come and try to kill her. She wasn't safe when he wasn't around to shield her aura from Ayasha the primeval goddess of knowledge. This had them in a very tight spot. Both their siblings were still trying to harm them and while his first focus was to ensure Elpis vessel didn't die so the goddess could set herself free from her prison, his new mission was to ensure his beloved stayed alive.

He wouldn't lose her, not when finally she was by his sides. The first year was difficult. They had to wipe Asma's memories of the whole adventures so she could move on and live a decent and happy life which impacted negatively on Pride, given how attached to the mortal he became. Accidents happened, like that day when he called her Asma. She let it slide because she understood but he realized that the more time they spent together, the more worried she was about their relationship. After all, he wasn't the man she used to know. He was different because of the curse and she couldn't blame him for it. But Pride was /different/ and he noticed she was cautious and guarded with him and was keeping them at an emotional distance but as time went by she melted and opened-up to him more and more. She was like he had dreamed her, curious about the world around them, loving mankind, loving /him/.

It was something he would have expected from anyone else in the whole universe but /her/. Everyone had to love him, everyone had to revere him as their king. It was the way things had to be. After all, he was Pride, the perfect being to have ever graced the universe. Slayer of gods, destroyer of pantheons, King of the Underworld and a man who still didn't understand how the perfection in front of him would want to have anything to do with him. She suffered for millennia, holding onto her love for him to set herself free from her prison. She never questioned her love for him and even now, even after feeling awkward for a couple of weeks since her return, all she wanted to do was walking the Earth with the man she loved. Pride smirked to himself and released her hand as she was taken by the sight of children playing in the grass.

« I would never get tired of seeing children playing. This is pure happiness Pride. It's raw, it's genuine. » Elpis said, closing her eyes for a brief minute.

«  I can tell. » He replied to her, walking closer to her frame. She smelled so good, fresh grass and wet ground like nature at dawn. The fresh breeze blew a little too hard and took her hat away with it, making the goddess scream and giggle as she ran after her hat. Pride followed her, chuckling to himself as his beloved was laughing while chasing her hat. When finally it stopped and she bent forward to take him from the ground, Pride took a minute to look at her. At this instant, bathed in the sunlight, Elpis looked gorgeous, breathtaking really. She calmly stared at him and gave him a sheepish smile. Her gaze was so full of love at this instant that even he couldn't ignore it. It became clear to him, at this moment that he really wanted her in his life, now and forever. He wanted to wake up to her smiles, to her arms around his waist and her kisses. He wanted to run his hand into her pink locks and let her fall asleep against his chest. He wanted to hear her say his name over and over again and yes, he did want her to rule by his sides. It became crystal clear.

« Pride? » She whispered as he walked closer to her with a determined gaze. His eyes were glowing brightly, a beautiful shade of blue close to the color of a clear sky during the day. His heart was pounding into his chest, hard. She looked up to his face, holding her hat in her hands and gave him a soft smile. He cupped both her cheeks and pressed his lips against hers. Her eyes grew wide because she realized that it was unlike the kisses he gave her before. It wasn't driven by lust or my comfort. It was a statement. It was a declaration. He claimed her lips and it made her drop her arms on each side of her body. His large hands slid onto her neck and into her hair so he could keep kissing her. He pulled away from her face and smirked, feeling her melt against him. She smiled back and gave him several small pecks onto his lips before he deepened the kiss. Closing her eyes this time, the elder goddess of Hope and light wrapped her arms around his waist and let him bury his head at the crook of her soft gracile neck.

« I'm not going to lose you again Elpis. » He informed her, his hand petting her hair and his chin resting on top of her head.

« You never lost me. I was always there with you. » She said in a soft voice while she rubbed her cheek against his large chest « And I will always be. »

« I will protect you, from my siblings and from yours. » She nodded quietly and gently ran her hand through his hair, slowly massaging his neck.

« So would I .» She then kissed his neck and closed her eyes. They would rekindle their relationship, turn it into something more beautiful than it used to be. « I love you Pride...I know you're not the same person I used to know, but my love for you is still the same. I loved the person you used to be but I fell in love with the person you are today. I found you and I will keep falling in love with you if it had to happen again. » She said with a soft broken voice. She knew there was a risk that he might not return her feelings but after the kiss and the promise he'd just made, she had to try and take a risk. A year went by after all and she did learn to know the new person he was and still managed to fall in love with him.

« I am in love with you too. » He replied, pulling away from her so he could look into her golden orbs and kiss her again.
