What could have been part 2 : Dean x Oya

A/N: yes I'm going to write two short scenes with our two stories! I just wanted something nice and sweet for everyone, things that aren't. Things that might not be, but things that could have been. First part is Elpis expressing her frustration in the form of a dream. The second one would be a dream Oya would have in the future that would make her wake up in a good mood (although slightly bitter)

Part 2: Oya and Dean

Castiel words resonated with the African hunter. He didn't spare her any punch when they argued and despite what she wanted to say, part of her did want Dean in a way she shouldn't, but it was dead on arrival. Both weren't looking for anything serious, she should know, she was scared to get close to anyone in fear of getting them killed. She'd just found a family with Dean and Sam despite her showing a clear sexual interest towards the elder brother. Besides, even if she was, it still was dead because she ruined the basis of every relationship: trust. He would always second guess her no matter how hard she worked to mend their relationship, he would always wonder if she would leave him when the two are on a case and this tiny bit of doubt was something she couldn't fight against. So it was dead on arrival.

Yet, when she fell asleep in between her meds intake, she was shown an alternate reality. Her dream felt real and unlike all the nightmares she was used to having, Oya actually dreamed. Her brain took her to another life, where Dean, her and Sam were actually a family and hunted together. She would ride her bike next to their Impala, work on cases with them and celebrate their victories with Dean. It was more than sex, more than just a body chemistry between the two of them, she knew it when the scene began to unfold.

« You've been acting super sketchy since we arrived here, Dean. » Her voice echoed in her mind. It wasn't full of pain or worried like it would be. It was actually just her being curious if she knew he was trying to surprise her but she busted him before he could. It felt nice.

« Sketchy? I don't remember acting anyway different than usual. » He retorted with a grin. Dean was so adorable when he grinned. He sounded relaxed, at ease and she could tell by the way he was carrying himself that he actually was feeling good, maybe a little excited and nervous.

« You've been. First, you insist on me coming in this time first and then we don't even sleep in the same room. What are you planning on my back Deannie? » She said, lifting a brow as she put her hands on her waist. Dean acted surprised and put his hand on his chest.

« You're accusing me of something I didn't do. » He said with a grin, walking towards the young woman who didn't move from her spot. They were outside, near the Winchester car and she leaned against it, indicating it was more of a casual conversation between the two of them than an actual argument.

It was so different from the reality. In this dream, she looked relaxed, open and happy. The way she looked at the elder Winchester was a dead giveaway. She was in love with him and he seemed to know it. Oya never wanted to give her broken heart again, in fear of having it broken some more or lost forever. She wasn't sure to be good enough for someone else. She was afraid of losing them again and would have dismissed any attempt at making something serious with her. She didn't know how to do it anyway and given how impatient people were today, there was little to no chance for her to connect again in any other way than friendship. She was fine with it, at least for the moment but experiencing it in her dream was overwhelming.

« Dean. I am not stupid. You and Sam are terrible at surprises so... let's get done with it and move on? » She suggested in a grin while Dean moved closer to her and coughed to clear his throat.

« You sure about it? » She nodded.

« Okay... well, We're in the middle of a case so we don't have much time but... I've been thinking about it. » He threw his hand into his pockets and searched for a box in his pocket. Oya tilted her head and looked at his hand as he took the box out. « So uhm... there's no good way to do it and I'm not going to overdo it but here's the thing. » He opened the box and presented it to her. « D'you think you could handle me for a lifetime or nah? » She widely opened her eyes, not expecting him to actually propose to her. « It's eer.. okay if you don't want, not like I'm looking forward to b--- »

« Yes! Yes ! Yes, I do. I mean.. I can handle your stinky ass for a lifetime since you handle my loud mouth. »

She was excited and so was he. Suddenly, Dean wasn't nervous anymore and he grinned even wider as he removed the ring and put it on her finger. He then proceeded to kiss her and wrapped his arms around her waist. She never saw Dean this happy and of course, it tipped her off to the fact she was in a dream. Of course, it was a dream. Dean would never be this relaxed and open and happy. He would never be laughing the way he was laughing and wouldn't spin her around like it was the best day of his life. He wouldn't kiss her like he had won at life like he did in the dream and they both wouldn't be this ready or okay with connecting their life to another human being without being afraid of losing them.

It was a dream... it was a dream and it could simply be symbolic. The proposal wasn't one, it was simply the fact he wanted to mend their relationship and give her a second chance. It had to mean this otherwise it would mean she wanted to be happy, she wanted to move on, she wanted Dean... she wanted this.. she wanted it to be true. She woke up suddenly and sat on the bed. Her temperature rose during the evening and she was sweating profusely. She put her hand over her lips and shifty looked from left to right as she was confused. It felt good, for a brief moment to be this happy and for a second, she thought that it could be nice to care about someone and to have someone care about her this much, it made her smile and she shook her head as the dream itself was kinda silly and so extra that it could never ever happen. She bit at her thumb and quietly leaned back onto her back. Dean would be better, as long as he was safe, she would be fine with it. He better be safe.. he better be.
