GoT modern : A distant memory

GoT : Modern: A distant memory

A/N : this one is just because I am obsessed with these two. <3 Another piece just to contrast with how bad her last relationship ended.

Xxxxxxx

« You gotta be kidding me ! » -Bäahal watched at the tabloid celebrating the engagement between Elias and another Westerosi heiress.-

It felt like a slap in the face, to see him smiling in the arms of someone else. It felt like a slap in the face after what he did to her. Bäahal couldn't focus on the Charity Ball organization she was doing and requested the room to be emptied so she could have a moment for herself. They executed her order without complaint, everyone knowing from the social media and magazines they all owned what was going on. Elias and Bäahal had always been a couple followed by thousands. They were young, they were hot, they were in love with each other. They were always together wherever one or the other went and always with big smiles and loving gazes.

One would have thought they would get married after he announced their engagement. But instead, he broke it off suddenly and just left the country to return to Dornes. At this point in her Life, Bäahal had no idea that Daenerys orchestrated his departure. She still didn't know that Elias was paid to leave her and even if she knew, while part of her would have been angry towards her sister, the other would have been angrier at her « fiancé » for choosing to leave her. But at this point, she didn't know anything, only that he left her.

They always left her. Whoever she grew close to, would one day decide to disappear? The fear of being left behind and not wanted was deeply rooted in the silver head heiress for she had always known situations like these. She could barely sleep that night, let alone be able to rest because she could feel a punch in her stomach and a pang in her heart. She just had a nightmare involving Elias her ex-fiancé. Seeing his name in the tabloids, boasting about his new fiancée really cut her deep and awoke memories she thought were gone. But Elias left and he didn't give her any closure, so of course, the wounds would remain deep and bleeding-still.

She was young and even more naive. Young and reckless. This was puppy love, but to the 25 years old, those felt like a fairy tale. Elias noticed her at a charity ball, he came to her and the two started to dance all the while placing more and more money for the Charity. He found her charming, he told her he wanted to see her again. She, the « ugly duckling » of the family had someone who looked past her name and her « origin story » to focus on her. Magical, improbable! So she fell for him and she fell hard. She remembered him calling her beautiful, watching her dance, supporting her in the underground world of dancing, and showing their love everywhere he could. Oh, they were plastered everywhere, on every social media at the time and the lack of privacy became her nightmare. She remembered when he vanished someday, with just a note stating he wouldn't return to Westeros and wouldn't want to see her anymore. That she wasn't good enough for him and he didn't even love her to begin with. Those words hurt her to her core.

She remembered how in one grief-stricken act, she gathered all of his presents and threw them in the trash can she then lit on fire. Oh, how she had cried that night, thinking the most horrible things about herself, thinking she couldn't be loved because it would always end this way. She remembered how she crouched in front of the fire, arms wrapped around her legs like a child as her hopes and dreams went to flames. He simply vanished, telling her that she couldn't be loved and wasn't enough. He who just moments earlier was talking about buying a place for the two of them, living a life made of false promises. That cut too deep. Daenerys knew that Elias was causing her sister distress and would always use him as an example as to why Bäahal should have listened to her and should do so now. He got engaged, to a Westerosi, after having said he would never come back to the country. The truth was, he simply didn't want her and made sure she couldn't find him until she did.

Do you remember being young and reckless, being desperately in love, and wanting to keep in touch with the love of your life? Well, that was Bäahal up until she was able to find his phone number and call him. He was so cold, so distant over the phone, claiming that he never loved her and to never try and reach out to him again. That broke her into million pieces and the trust she had in people vanished overnight. She accepted that they would be around her because they were her sister's sycophants or they would want some sex, which she sometimes gave when she was in need of some. Bäahal partied and she partied hard, drowning her sorrow in the only thing that wouldn't betray her -Dance-. She felt free only when she was dancing and knew that nothing or no one could take that joy away from her. She swore to herself to never fall in love again because people weren't honest, not with her that was.

But she failed, and she failed hard.

Her heart was beating fast against her ribcage, forcing her to roll her eyes and try and breathe. It was over, why was she still hurting? Elias was a coward, a boy who got cold feet and who decided to abandon rather than have a mature conversation. Elias wasn't what she deserved. Yes he cared for her, yes they spent magical moments, but that was it, it was supposed to be short-lived. He found love again and perhaps she should be happy for him. As her fingers traced the magazine she then went to the list of guests for the ball and noticed that he was taking part in it. He was coming and with his fiancée as well. Her eyes grew wide and she felt her breathing becoming labored. no. There was no way she would assist at his unabashed happiness without doing shit about it. She was panicking so much that she grabbed her phone and searched the names on it. She found Jaime's and suddenly it felt as if the whole world had stopped spinning for a moment.

The panic and the stress went away as she was now feeling warmth overwhelming her body. She stopped moving for a while and put one leg on the chair she was sitting at. Her left arm wrapped around her calf while she leaned her head against the knee and held her phone with her right hand. Things had been different now, there was Jaime. She had tried to contain her emotion for him from the moment she realized that she wanted to be with him more than usual. She tried to measure things up, tried to be reasonable, but this young woman was anything but reasonable. Her eyes set upon the older man, amethysts vs Emerald's eyes on that night at the club. Ever since she keeps looking for him, seeking his company, feeling his warmth. It was the only thing that mattered to her. Jaime. The way he made her feel, his presence in her life..They never really put a name on what they were, never really tried to consider it anything else but « their time », « their secret lair », « their space ». It was theirs, whatever happened. She was his. She was his.

The thought calmed her enough to bring a smile to her face. Jaime was nothing like Elias, he knew what he wanted and he told her what he wanted -before he took it-. Jaime was not shy, nor easily scared. He was a man with a position of power in this society, a man with ambition, a man with needs. He found something in her that he couldn't find anywhere else, perhaps it was her kindness, perhaps her softness, perhaps the joy she was finally able to show between four walls. With him, she was simply Bäahal, a curious and enthusiastic young woman who wanted to bite life and spare nothing. She was eager to live, eager to discover, and eager to love someone. She gave most of it to her dogs but was more than ready to love someone again and it had chosen Jaime.

She sighed deeply, her hand ran through her silver locks as she was thinking of how to handle that night. Elias might simply ignore her, or perhaps he would want to talk to her and flaunt his happiness? no. He was too much of a coward to come and talk to her. Paparazzi would be there, licensed photographs as well and she wanted this ball to be a success. She would look her best, dashing and ravishing in a white dress with red and black accents, the colors of her Family Crest. She would make sure that the night would be forgotten by no one and when journalists would come and ask about Elias, she would be able to proudly say that she's happy he's moved on and wished him a happy life. And with this resolution, the ache in her heart disappeared. Replaced with beautiful thoughts of Jaime instead.
