Colby: They didn't need to speak

They didn't always need to speak to understand how the other felt. Perhaps that was something he appreciated about Mary, her empathy. She seemed to know what he needed just with a glance. He would sit quietly, his head filled with words that rushed in and filled it to the brim. He would sit there quietly and look at her as she would go about her day. She would hum his favorite lullabies, and she would tend to his injuries if he had any. She would run her fingers through his hair, pull some rebellious strands away from his eyes and she would kiss his forehead, his ear, and his jaw before her arms would wrap around his shoulders and his would wrap around her waist in a needy embrace.

They didn't always need to speak to understand how the other felt. Perhaps that was something she appreciated about Tommy. He would be incredibly sweet to her, in the confines of their room. He would pull her into a firm but soft embrace and would let his fingers stroke her unmarred skin. He would let her hear the sound of his heartbeats and feel his chest heave up and down at a steady pace. He would let her relax in his embrace and would let the comfortable silence comfort them. Tommy could allow himself to relax near Mary. He could allow himself to be soft and while sometimes they didn't know what the other had in mind, they always knew when they needed comfort. Somehow.  Some way.
