TB: Thinking about the parents.

Sara tied the belt of her bathrobe tighter around her frame and let out a tired sigh of satisfaction. It had been a good day at the studio, her album was slowly taking shape and she was very happy with the ballads she recorded so far. She traced the pictures on her fridge and smiled to herself as she set her eyes on the picture she took with her manager, Dotty.  It was one of those days when everything felt fine. She didn't know about Compound V just yet, didn't know that her parents had manufactured her and intended to use her for their own personal gains. She had stopped reeling from the rejection of the rest of her family.  What use would that be for her to remember how much her own people hated her? What good would that be for Sara to try and rekindle a relationship with her family? They knew that Sara was abused when she was a little girl. They knew about her mother's debts and her father's desire for fame. They knew and they didn't intervene. Instead, they pretended they didn't see anything.? They pretended that she had a happy childhood and didn't need to be saved. They betrayed her trust so why would she care for them today?

She tried to forgive them when she turned 18. She had outgrown the foster care system and wanted to give her family a second chance but they blew it off. They rejected her without a care in the world and humiliated her when she came to them with genuine intentions. Sara felt her heart sink as the memory of the day they mocked and insulted her overwhelmed her. Dotty's presence prevented unnecessary deaths that day because Sara would have used her powers to stone them to death if left on her own devices. Ultimately, it was a good thing they did to her. It was a good thing because she was allowed to move around, explore the world, and build her career by herself. She never needed them and she refused to even entertain the idea of talking to them again. Still.. somewhere on her mind, Sara couldn't help but think of what her parents would have said to her if they knew she was dating Homelander.

Her mother would have tried to milk his money off for her own benefit. Her father would have been the biggest fanboy of Homelander but only because he would have been able to try to steal the spotlight.  Perhaps...They would have disapproved as soon as the world turned its back on Homelander like it threatened to do a while ago. Who knew? She wiped a tear that had fallen and shrugged because ultimately, Sara would have wanted to show her parents that she was doing alright. She was doing more than fine. She was finally loved by the whole world and by someone special who thought the world of her. She wished they could see how happy she was. She wished they could see how loved she was but they were gone and the only thing she could do about it was to keep on going. She was happy, there was no need for the whole world to be privy to her happiness. There was no need for them to see her at her most vulnerable. she was in love. She was happy. She was with him.
