Chronicles of the Primeval gods: THE CHESS GAME PART III (recap)

Chronicles of the Primeval gods: THE CHESS GAME PART III (recap)

A/N : I wrote the last recap in 2019, now it's time to explain what happened since then.

Xxxxxx

What was going on? Ayasha realized she had lost control over Ishtar since Leviathan's death. Of course, the late god of the oceans planted the seed of rebellion in the mind of her brother, making it more and more difficult for her to manipulate him. Ishtar was what he was, difficult, violent, impulsive but he wasn't stupid. Once the light was shone upon the situation he was in, the truth started to prevail. He became distant with Ayasha, more commanding with her. He left her no window to manœuvre and manipulate him, which became frustrating.

Her loss of control induced a level of fear and anxiety unknown to the goddess. No matter what, she couldn't shake her fear off of her mind. Elpis was alive and well, and she still couldn't locate her. She still couldn't find her due to the sin's ancient spell, which only fueled Ishtar's anger and Ayasha's fear. They could strike at any moment now. Of course, the New All-Father rang the bells of war and was now preparing the remaining gods for the upcoming battle against Superbia and Elpis. Ayasha was still searching for a weapon or an artifact capable of unmaking Pride and had requested her brother to forge her a god-killing weapon so she could be even with Elpis.

Ishtar, while determined to destroy his sister and the sin once and for all, was having second thoughts. As usual, he was tormented by his guilt and the twisted love he felt for his sister. He had tried to seek his mother's support but she rejected him, still resentful for the death of the All-Father Khaos. The god of war knew that his hesitation to kill Elpis might come back during the last battle and was now trying to overcome his feelings for her. After all, she did betray the primeval gods by giving herself to a Sin. She betrayed her family, she betrayed him. He should have killed her 2000 years ago but he swore to fix his mistake, no matter how torn his heart would be afterward.

Ayasha, however, wasn't truly convinced that her brother would succeed in killing Elpis. She decided to foment a plan B, just in case the first battle wouldn't work. Still being blinded by the Sin, she wasn't able to see the truth of his relationship with Elpis but could speculate that they were getting along right now. However, should a third element be introduced to the pair, the probability of chaos was higher than usual because Elpis was known to be very jealous? Asma became obvious to the primeval goddess. Asma was the last host, the only host to have met Pride, and to have elicited emotions from him. She didn't die and was still very much roaming the Earth, so that meant Pride had a soft spot for the human.

The goddess of knowledge befriended the human in the following months. She decided to play it slow, make sure that Asma was visible enough for them to hear the news of her life in danger. She wanted to kill the doppelganger, or eventually put her in such a dire situation that the Sin would come to her rescue. Elpis would not accept to share her sin with someone else, regardless of what they did to help her and they would argue and destroy each other, or perhaps the sin would kill Elpis and Ayasha, who would have been ready to unmake him, would simply have to unmake Pride. The victory was ensured...Still.. this plan was flawed and there were far too many dead angles that Ayasha decided it would be safer to see their mother.

So Gaea was visited once again by the blonde goddess of knowledge. They clashed, as much verbally as their powers started to leak and influence the mortal realm. Yet, for the first time in eons, Ayasha finally pierced through the thick armor of her mother. As she exposed Gaea's true nature, the All-mother dismissed her, unable to accept that she wasn't as pure as she wanted to present herself. Gaea was scared of Elpis, she always had been. From her birth to this day, the All-mother knew her daughter had a terrifying power within her. She was, after all, the product of true love between Chaos and Gaea. A child who was  capable of both creation and destruction on a universal level. The other siblings were tasked with a singular mission. They were to contain her in a bubble, they were to manipulate her into submission and ensure she wouldn't tap into her true power. Of course, most didn't realize it was the mission but Ayasha figured it out rather quickly.

Gaea was scared because she kept having visions of her daughter taking her crown, unlocking her true potential, and punishing her for allowing Ishtar to stab her. Since the All-mother was plagued with nightmares, she was now considering cutting the « neutral act » and actively working against her daughter. Yet again, it wasn't certain. All that was, was that Elpis was now stronger by the minute, recovering from the energy depletion caused by the curse and discovering her new powers with Superbia. They were enjoying each other's presence while walking the Earth but Elpis was becoming more and more impatient with her revenge and more and more ambitious as well. Why stop at Earth when they could rule the universe? She requested Pride with forging her a god-killing weapon so she could be a worthy ally and partner when they launch the assault on the Primeval gods' pantheon.
