"Why was Abigail so hellbent on hunting down the Cursed One? What could she get from killing another fellow witch? Some thought that she was after fame. After all, Witches who were witch-hunters did exist over the centuries. Most were motivated by the survival of their coven, some, were more interested in spilling blood and hide their bloodlust. Abigail wasn't mandated by her coven. In truth, her coven didn't want to go after the Cursed one. They believed that it was just an old fairytail, that nobody had seen such a being and that they had more pressing matters to focus on. It was true, the Originals were already an issue, the vampires they sired were natural enemies they had to deal with. Werewolves existed as well and unfortunately for witches, they weren't allies. Abigail could care less about it.
She loved her coven and she wanted to protect her sisters but it wasn't the reason that motivated her to go after the Cursed One. No. It wasn't even bloodlust. She didn't like being a hunter. She didn't like taking lives, she didn't enjoy hunting down creatures but she thought that it was a divine mission granted to her by the goddess Hecate. She had to rid the world of abominations and the very existence of such a witch was an insult to them and to Hecate. How could someone choose to help the enemy? how could she save the Originals when she should have tried to destroy them? How could she walk the Earth, carrying with her the memories of the coven she betrayed. Abigail could not tolerate that to continue. She had to stop her and she would. She followed a lead that took her to Mystic Falls where the Original Elijah Mikaelson was supposed to be. Let the hunt begin."
