Klasma: Damon the trouble-maker and the Witch

//Damon has been sniffing Mary's trail and he is very close to knowing who she is and what her deal is. This is a confrontation between the two of them.

Mary felt the presence of a supernatural creature in her shop. She was busy organizing the back room and preparing potions when she felt the intense pressure of the presence that had entered her business door. A soft sigh escaped from her lips and she cast a spell to cloak herself from the creature. it could have been anything, from a vampire to a werewolf or even a witch and that meant that perhaps, she had been discovered. Mary prepared for a fight, pulling gloves on if she were to manipulate silver or vervain since she was vulnerable to both of them. She took a deep breath and quietly walked into her boutique, preparing to confront an enemy. Her golden eyes blinked upon seeing Damon Salvatore and she softened her features just so she wouldn't cast suspicion on her.

They ran into one another a couple times, especially when Elena and her clique needed Mary's pieces of advice or help to solve some of their problems. Damon always stayed away but observed the woman who definitely had that vibe about her that didn't sit well with him. She was wiser than she let know. She was older than she pretended to be, and it was difficult to ignore. Yet, he thought that most of it might be a mistake and he needed to be sure. The opportunity presented itself when Stefan came back to tell him that he saw her talk with Elijah at the Mystic Grill bar, once, and at her shop, a second time, and Elijah wasn't the type of person to give his time to people who didn't matter to him. So, there was a reason to actually investigate.

"Damon!" -She crossed her arms as she walked to the counter of her shop. Damon pretended he was looking at some of the potions that were stored on a shelf, but his piercing blue eyes focused on the witch who swallowed a lump but remained stoic-

"Mary! I wasn't sure you would show up." -He threw his hands up in the air as if to welcome her but she quickly noticed that he was everything but happy to see her.-

"You're in my shop. Why wouldn't I show up?" -She decided to play dumb and pretend that she was just human and couldn't possibly understand the reasons that had him visit her-

"I don't know, maybe because.." He spoke slowly, closing the distance between the two of them and laying both hands on the counter of her shop. His jaw was clenched, his attention acute, and she knew that he would track down the slightest change in her demeanor- "You've received the visit of someone special to you."

"You mean, you?" -She teased him, lifting a brow and fighting a chuckle from escaping her lips. Damon didn't seem to be in a joking mood, so he squinted his eyes and smirked slightly.- "Oh, come on, I think I can be able to joke with you at least a little bit." -She tried to add in order to deflect his attention from the fact she was a nervous wreck.-

"You can joke, yes. but I don't think that I am in a mood for a joke." -He lifted a brow and started to tap his fingers against the wood, sending shivers down Mary's spine. She swallowed a hard lump but held her gaze with Damon's.- "I will only ask once. What is Elijah here? Is it for Elena? Is it for Kathrine?"-

Here it was, the hard question. Damon didn't waste any time, unlike Stefan who would have coated his question with good words and nice intentions, Damon was an asshole. He always went straight to the point and wanted to have answers, and as fast as possible. She could feel the hostility coming from him and perceived that he probably knew the truth about her. After all, he spent time with Elena and friends and he probably caught her using magic when she thought nobody would notice. She bit her inner cheek, not enough to draw blood, but enough to keep herself on edge.

"I don't know." -The answer came naturally. She couldn't possibly tell him that she knew who Elijah was, given the rocky relationship between the Salvatore and the Mikaelsons. She could only pretend not to understand the question or at the very worst, answer in ambiguity.-

"Oh yeah? You don't know? Yet, Stefan told me he saw you talk twice to Elijah. You seemed to be pretty worked up the two times the two of you discussed, which led me to believe that you weren't under glamour, and you genuinely know Elijah. The good thing is that he pissed you off, so that means you might not be an enemy. The bad thing is, you have a relationship with him, I don't know what it is, but I don't like it. Elijah isn't the type of person to confront people he doesn't have an interest in. You mean something to him. You are not just a simple mortal, now are you?"

She defiantly looked at him, her eyes glowing behind her sunglasses, much to her dismay as it betrayed her supernatural nature. Using his speed, Damon removed her sunglasses and she instinctively knocked every other customer in the room out with her magic so they wouldn't witness the reveal that she had golden eyes. The discovery shocked Damon who furrowed his brows, both happy to see he was actually right and confused about what he saw. Was she a witch? was she something else? He narrowed his gaze and opened his mouth to expose his fangs as a warning but she didn't budge. instead, he noticed she moved her fingers, and turned the lights off, confirming that she did know some magic. She had a pulse, she couldn't be a vampire, which had Damon growl at her.

"You are a witch!"

"A 'cursed' witch. I am not just any random witch, Damon."

"you're working with Elijah!" -She shook her head- "Then why would he come and see you?"

"I am not working for him. I am working for myself!" -She claimed, hitting at her chest with the palm of her hands in order to emphasize her statement- "I am a healer, Damon. I don't care about your quarrels and petty issues! I have been fending for my own for centuries, I will keep doing so."

"Centuries? "-Damon blinked and tilted his head to the side. "Witches don't live for centuries. Is it your curse?"

"I see that you are, indeed, clever! Good for you! Now, get the hell out of my shop before I really start to get angry." -She cast a strong wind, strong enough to make Damon step back.-

The lights were flickering and he chose not to piss her off and turn this visit into an actual fight. It wasn't the right time and she wasn't ready to talk to him. However, she did reveal some of her true nature to him. something that she couldn't hide. She was a witch, a cursed and powerful witch with abilities she had not put on display just yet, and history with the world's first vampires. He didn't like the fact that someone like her existed, and even less the fact that she seemed to be attracting trouble. The Mikaelsons weren't good news, and having Elijah around was always a bad omen. He would come back and he would know what he really wanted and if Mary was a danger to his brother, to Elena, or to the rest.
