Early History
Very little is known about Ceryse's past. All that is known is that she was raised to become one of the most accomplished seafarers of House Velaryon. She was one of the most beautiful Valeryon women whose beauty was known to bring out the best and the worst of men. It was also known that Vaemond Velaryon doted on his daughter and prided himself on her knowledge, beauty, and passion for the sea. Long before Laenor's children were proven to be bastards, Vaemond wanted to betroth his daughter to one of her cousins so she could rule on Driftmark. He was so disappointed in discovering the treachery of Princess Rhaenyra that he berated his brother and decided to cancel his plan to marry their children together.
As she reached maturity, it became wildly known that the Lady of Driftmark was slowly losing her sight, a new that wasn't received very well by the woman who decided to make the best of it and carve her name next to the legendary warriors of Westeros and Valyria. She couldn't see very well in the dark unlike in her younger years but she was still very efficient otherwise. She had met with Daemon Targaryen only a couple times, at Rhaenyra's wedding to Laenor but at the time she didn't think much of the man. She was pleased when he married her cousin Laena and resumed her life at sea. Her father grew restless upon discovering that the children fathered by Laenor weren't his and his dissatisfaction became an obsession of his. Still, Ceryse was very welcoming of the Targaryens who had married into her family.
Things started to change when it became clear that her father would not let go of the issue of Laenor's paternity of his children. She tried to calm her father to no avail. His obsession took a darker turn at Laena's death and her father's speech. Things became sour between her father and when he planned to marry her to Aemond Targaryen. Ceryse had always thought her father would let her choose the man she would marry and was crept up by the man -well, unfortunately, his reputation preceded him and it wasn't an outstanding one- Besides, she knew that he wanted to overthrow her uncle and cause a bigger drift between the two families by aligning himself with the Greens. Confused and upset, the young woman left, giving support to the fleet near the Triarchy instead.
She was by her uncle's side when he got sick and decided to return to her homeland to give support to her aunt Rhaenys. She remained at Driftmark when Rhaenyra and the rest of the family went to King's Landing in order to face Vaemond's claim to Driftmark. Ceryse learned about the death of her father and quickly organized her escape to King's Landing. She felt deeply hurt and betrayed by her family for not trying to avenge her father or give him a decent burial at sea. Hurt, vengeful, and scared of the Blacks, the Lady of Driftmark went to King's Landing in order to seek the protection of the crown.
Most Recent History :
Otto Hightower decided to claim Ceryse for himself once the war would be over. He knows that if Rhaenyra's extended family was decimated, then the sole heir to Driftmark would be Ceryse. The young woman didn't want to get married to the old man, especially since she wasn't interested in his politics or in his old ass. Her emotions are all over the place, while she understood the reason that got her father killed, she was still traumatized by his death and the fact it was his own House that murdered him. She dreamed of confronting Daemon in order to avenge her father, and in order to understand the man, she started to spend some time with Aemond Targaryen, her more level-headed cousin. Aemond tried to intervene in her favor and convince his grandsire to marry Ceryse instead, but Otto refused for he had other plans for the young prince. When Aegon II was crowned king, and Rhaenys escaped, she decided to take the opportunity to go to Dragonstone in order to meet with Rhaenyra and Daemon. There, she caught the eye of the prince (but lightly so), and she refused to admit that her opinion of him changed because he managed to manipulate her heart and steal her maidenhood.

Personality and trivia:
Ceryse is a very dutiful and loyal woman. She loves her family and loved her father above anyone else. Her mother died shortly after her death so she was raised by him. Being the youngest of his children, he had a soft spot for the spunky Lady of Driftsmark who showed eagerness and passion. She rarely gives up when presented with obstacles.
Ceryse is a very intense woman. She knows what she wants and would never hesitate to take it or say it. She is very outspoken when she's upset. She will let you know if she has a problem with you straight away. Yet she's terrible when it comes to feelings. She would keep to herself most of the time, especially after her father's death.

- Ceryse might not have let a man claim her maidenhood, but she received proper sex education from her handmaiden. She also took time to explore herself and be comfortable with her skin.

-She has a very pleasant smell, that reminds the mind of the seaside.
-Ceryse is losing her sight. , so she knows that her time as a seafarer is numbered.
