headcanon Peaky Blinders: Mary

Headcanon Marriage: 

Mary wants to get married a second time. She had always dreamed of being married to a kind man who would truly love her but ended up married to a Bitch who conned and manipulated his way into her heart when she was far too young. He hurt Mary, to her core, and for a long time, she believed that he took all that was precious from her. Fortunately, she was wrong. 

She fell in love with Tommy and had only recently started to think about getting married to him. Perhaps Lizzie and her obsession with him kickstarted something inside Mary or perhaps, that was something she had always wanted to have but never voiced out loud. Anyway, she wants to marry Tommy. She wants to become his wife. She wants to adopt his child and she wants to carry their own.

It is something she won't speak of until perhaps after they admit their feelings for each other. It can wait, but it's a desire she has.

Headcanon Heartbreak: 

Well, isn't she the queen of heartbreaks? Mary didn't have an easy life. not in the least. From being abandoned at an orphanage to being raised by sadistic nurses, she went through a lot. Her husband was a bastard who seduced a girl too young to be a wife and too young to be a mother. She lost her son who was only able to live for 30 minutes and later discovered that her husband was a lying bitch who both escaped from the first world war and tried to escape from his gang, positively endangering his wife. 

When her life became quieter and she was safer, then came the pain of Love. She fell in love with Tommy and loving a Shelby, whoever that was, always leads to heartbreaks. For so long she was convinced that he didn't care about her, to finally believe that he only has her around because she helps raise his son. She is afraid he sees her as a glorified nanny or a "replacement" for Grace. She is afraid that her love would not be reciprocated and is suffering from being in limbo. Tommy has to deal with his own traumas and fears and she's patient enough with him. Still, she suffers from the situation and is trying to take it in stride.
