 Headcanon Marriage:

Mary had dreamed of having a family of her own. Her dreams vanished as soon as she was cursed by her coven and forced to spend centuries on her own. Her situational crush on Elijah never went to that point. She never wanted to marry him because she never was in love with him. Deep down, Mary still wants to have a  normal life. as "normal" as she could. She is a supernatural creature and because of her nature, there's nothing "normal". What she wants, however, is companionship. She wants someone who cares for her, who loves her, and who would do absolutely anything for her.  She wants to devote herself to others. She wants to be there for them and she wants to share her heart with them. So yes, she wouldn't oppose marriage, all the opposite. What she knows, however, is that she can't be loved. Her curse makes it so and while Klaus seems to be immune to it, Mary doesn't want to believe that their bond could turn into something deeper. But who is she kidding? she fell in love with him.

headcanon Heartbreak:

Well, where to start? She is a witch who lost her family because of Klaus' rampage. She was rescued from an assault by Elijah and because she chose to help him,  she was cursed by her supreme. 

She had to watch her sisters die one by one to give power to the curse of her supreme and she heard the harshest words said by a woman she considered a mother figure.  She lost everything in an instant and the curse cast on her makes it impossible for her to bond with people. 

She spent centuries alone getting older and more powerful as she never stopped studying magic. She was extremely lonely and touch-deprived. She always had to move from one city to another because her true nature was exposed or because she was hunted down by her natural enemies.  Finally, when she thought she could have some rest, and have a true connection with Elijah Mikaelson, she learned that he used her as a tool and nothing else.

Mary wears heartbreak on her face. She chose not to hold back since it activates her curse and hurts her more than she can handle. So she doesn't fight it. she hurts a lot.  She is heartbreak and anger incarnate.
