DOYA: Kira

A/N: Oya learned the truth (part of it) about Dean's extended family. She and Kira are somehow friends and when she bumped into her after she came back from her last solo hunt, the blonde's reaction didn't sit well with Oya. She first believed that Dean had a history with Kira -which would have been easier to deal with than what she learned afterward- and insisted on having him say he did. But he finally told her that Kira was his daughter and that he had twins and how and why his relationship with his kids got strained. She hadn't properly dealt with the information until the morning after. This is what's going on in her mind. All usual disclaimers. Kira is an OC who belongs to my partner's sister. Oya is mine.

Oya woke up early that Sunday. Yesterday was quite the rollercoaster of emotions and she knew that she would need to process everything. This morning was quite -well, save for the noise Sam made as he came back from his hunt.- and Dean was still lying next to her. Was he sleeping? She wasn't sure, his breathing was regular but she couldn't tell unless she took a look at him and that peculiar morning, Oya didn't want to look at Dean straight away. She would usually just roll on her side and watch him sleep but not today. Not just yet. Her hand was on her belly, she patted softly as if to reassure her and her eyes were glued to the ceiling. His strong arm was wrapped around her waist as it always was when they slept together so he could keep her safe if she had a nightmare and because it felt good to have her familiar frame next to his.

He was a father. He was a /father/. The information felt surreal. She bit at her inner cheek to make sure it wasn't a dream and as pain washed through her body. He really was a dad, they really had that conversation last night. He was a father of twins and she only met one of the pairs. Kira. So many conflicted feelings were overwhelming her since yesterday. She both was weirded out by the new and absolutely welcomed it. Kira was a friend before she eventually became sort of a... daughter in law? Wow ! That felt weird just thinking of it! A daughter in law? She met the young woman during one of her solo hunts. They both were in the same town but were chasing two different creatures.

Oya was chasing a rogue angel who tried to hurt Castiel and while the angel was recovering at the bunker, she patiently hunted down that bastard of an angel in order to stab it with her blade. It was personal, some sort of a payback for what Castiel had to endure. Kira was there because she was hunting a lone werewolf from a pack she had decimated a few months ago. It had escaped and was behaving uncharacteristically, leaving trails of bodies left and right. They ran into each other one night because, once again that was unusual, the angel and the werewolf did run into each other while trying to escape from the hunters. That was comical, to say the least. Maybe Kira didn't notice the plastered smile on Oya's face when she did stab that motherfucker with her blade or maybe she did, for all Oya cared. It didn't stop them from drinking beers and talking hunts right after they were done hunting. Blood could really make girls bond, couldn't it?

They hung out for a few more days, searching for potential other cases in town and ensuring their rides were ready to go, as well as supplies and it was enough for Oya to befriend the blonde. They didn't need to know every detail of their lives to be friends now did they? Kira knew that Oya came from Africa and came to America in order to hunt an African monster. Now that it was done, she stayed to help American hunters get rid of their monsters. A simple way to introduce oneself that was, and it was the truth. Kira as well didn't tell her the whole story. She did tell her that she'd been on the job for quite a few years now, that it was a family business -like it so often was with American hunters, so again, nothing stood up from their conversation- and that she did have family here and there but mostly hunted alone. That wasn't a lie, but definitely not the whole truth. Oya furrowed her brows.

It was a shock, yeah, but it also was a joy to learn that Dean was a dad. For all the things she always felt regretful for, Oya knew that being unable to have children was one of them. She couldn't, she was still young and despite no excruciating desire to conceive overwhelmed the African hunter, she still had that regret of being deprived of having the choice anymore. Oya was raised with the idea that having a child was the only way to become more than just a tool in the eyes of her society so of course, somehow, the urge was eating up at her in her mind. That and having been abandoned by her fiancé the minute he learned she couldn't have his children hurt her. It was still a vivid wound and somehow, Oya did think that Dean might want to have kids of his own with her and would be disappointed because he couldn't have. It plagued her nightmares, every other two nights so to hear that he actually already had children felt like a relief for Oya. He wouldn't need other kids. He wouldn't need that because he already had it. So, shock, awkwardness, relief.

Then she closed her eyes and growled under her breath. There was more to it than she wanted to admit. She was upset at Dean. It wasn't that he was a dad -by all means, no! She was excited about it!- It was that he didn't tell her. He hid this information from her on purpose and it didn't sit well with the ebony hunter. Why wouldn't he tell her that he was a dad? They had a perfect opportunity the day they talked about offsprings and she told him that he would be a great dad. He didn't say anything if not that he would be terrible at parenting. Yeah sure! That was a fucking clue! But what's a clue when you don't have a piece of the puzzle already? How was she supposed to know? He wouldn't have told her if Kira hadn't bumped into her a few days ago and Oya's jealousy didn't act up. He would have kept quiet and that was the detail that angered Oya. How could he keep secrets from her? How could he hide when she had been as open as possible with him? She held onto the sheets and ran her other hand through her black curls. Of course, it made her panic too, because what else was he hiding from her? What else was he keeping from her? Her eyes shifted from left to right as she felt tears fill her eyes again and she shook her head.

He promised not to hide anything from her ever again. He promised and she believed him. Of course, she did. Oya trusted Dean with her life, even when he wasn't completely honest. She wanted their relationship to work and was willing to fight every step of the way to make it happen. She already did, literally anyway, when Jen tried to kiss her. She slapped her but then it became ugly because she warned Oya that Dean would break her heart if she wasn't careful. She didn't know him, she heard legends and stories about how the Winchester fought against Lucifer or killed Death or released the Darkness. Rumours and legends from people who both admired them and hated the brothers were enough for Jen to make up her mind on Dean and deem him unworthy. Oya punched her, to defend her boyfriend's honor but also because she couldn't stand that anyone would have the nerves to judge Dean for what he did without knowing him and where he came from. They knew jack shit about the Winchester... but Oya realized that she didn't know everything as well.

Well, she knew he was repressed. That wasn't new. She knew he needed time to talk about his feelings. She knew he needed time to even just admit to himself that he was feeling a certain way. Oya wasn't asking him to go out of his way to tell her things. She didn't need him to tell him everything but when it was as important as him being a father? Damn right, she had to know! She couldn't be left out. She was his partner, wasn't she? For a brief moment, it really hurt because she thought that he didn't believe in them enough to let her know what was important. He had kids, it was a life-changing situation, something that would follow him for his whole life. Something that changed him already. Yes, of course, he was young and stupid and didn't handle the situation the best way he would have, but that didn't mean he couldn't have at least... try? She wiped her tears, those tears that threatened to fall more than once since she woke up finally rolled down her cheeks as she couldn't contain them anymore. It made her panic, for a solid minute until he apologized and promised not to hold back such big information from her ever again. It did hurt because she thought to herself that maybe, maybe there would be an end to their relationship if he chose to hide secrets from her. If he didn't trust her enough to tell her things... if he.. if he...

She couldn't contain her tears anymore and just sobbed silently. The thought of losing Dean always made her feel upset. The thought of him not being as committed as she was heartbreaking as well. It was already scary enough to be involved again in a relationship and she thought that the two of them got it right when they got together but apparently, they didn't. Dean woke up quite fast as he felt the mattress shift and heard noises. He opened his eyes only to see Oya wiping her tears which alarmed him. He knew he was responsible for these. He held back such an important information from her that he knew Oya would need time to adjust. She told him yesterday that him being a dad was a good thing and she wanted him to give himself a second chance with Kira. He kinda did. Yes he left but he kept in touch, he visited his children and maintained the bare minimum of a relationship with them so they knew they could always find him if they needed help. They could always crash at the bunker if they needed a place to go but that didn't seem to be working out that well. At least, Oya didn't think it did.

Dean pulled her into a hug, his hand stroked her arms to help her calm herself while she curled against him and sobbed still. After the joy and excitement of seeing Dean embracing real fatherhood -Oya would work to convince him to improve his relationship with his children.-, then came Fear. Yes, she was afraid. She was afraid because she didn't know what to do next. Sure, when she meets Kira, she would meet her as the girlfriend of her dad which does change the relationship they had. -or maybe, it didn't have to change ! Oya didn't want it to be different- but what if Kira didn't want to have anything to do with her because of her father? What if she hated her? What if his boy -whose name she didn't even ask for- hated her too? What if they didn't accept her? Or didn't think -just in case they were indeed good with their dad- that Oya was trust-worthy enough or good enough for their dad? What if.. what if they thought she had to go? Now it put Oya into the step-mother shoes, a rôle she never really asked for but got anyway. Her mind was leaning towards rejection. That was the only thing that could happen anyway. She was used to it, so she defaulted to it in her brain this morning. Dean would dump her if his kids didn't like her, or he would dump her because -reasons- or his kids would hate her and would make sure she knew it. She hugged him tighter, sobbing quietly still as it just was too much to register for her.

Dean knew he had to find a way to comfort her this morning, so he quietly cupped her cheeks and wiped away her tears. He planted several kisses on top of her head and held her tighter against him. He knew she wouldn't speak, not when she was being this emotional -Oya never cried except in front of him and if she did, then he knew it was something serious. He tinkered around only to find out that the best answer to her crying, was to wait until she wasn't to ask what was wrong.-, so he just comforted her. She needed his presence, he knew it by the way she was holding onto him and Dean didn't need to be medium to know that she was afraid he left. She voiced it yesterday when they were « arguing » about him hiding the information from her. So he would make sure she didn't feel like it was the end of the world and that he would always be by her sides. He himself didn't quite know how to feel about all of this. He'd just told her that he had kids and she stayed.

She stayed.....
