Pride and Asma : Countdown

A/N: Pride is pissed off. Understandably so. But he also finally had decisive information concerning the plot. Elpis is only one step away but that's not an easy step to make.

xxxxxxxx

Pride was fuming. His eyes were burning a deep purple light as he couldn't believe his ears. She did what? She disobeyed him that's what she did ! Asma was looking at him with an apologetic look on her face for what she did but it didn't appease the SIN. All the opposite. It only made him even more furious against her. He told Asma she couldn't leave the safe houses he put her in because she would be easy to track down by their common enemies. A sin could find her and kill her, forcing Pride to forget once again about Elpis. One of her siblings could come and kill her too but this time, they could find a way to permanently get rid of her and Pride refused to risk that. How come someone like Asma, he knew was very cautious and scared of stepping a foot outside in fear of being killed, be so reckless and run out of the safe house? How could she act so out of character like that? How could she put herself and Elpis in grave danger? She didn't seem to realize that she had made a mistake or maybe she did for all he cared. All that mattered was that she did leave without him by her sides or without his permission. She left and she did meet danger in the form of Envy.

The Sin's blood almost boiled at the mention of his brother. Of course, it would have been him. Of course, he would have messed up this poor weak human soul and turn her into a dramatic puddle of nerves. Asma who wanted to survive, would so clearly have tried to take Elpis away from him? It made no sense at all. It also was unusual, however, that Envy didn't try to make her fall in love with him but rather tried to make her kill herself. It wasn't Asma. She wasn't like that and now Pride knew why she had changed so drastically and became a drama queen. Envy ! Envy was behind it. His fingers curled into fists as he was already fomenting his revenge. He would take his time on Envy. He would make him regret his attempt at killing his beloved and ruining Pride's efforts at bringing her back. He wanted to be mad at Asma, as in, allow his anger to explode but he couldn't take the risk to let himself loose and kill her in the process. She only was human. She only was a weak creature. It was bound to happen that she left the house and disobeyed him and all things considered, Asma was still alive so he didn't lose anything if not his patience.

Things became more interesting however when she mentioned Khrön and his message. He finally knew where the Dagger of Fate was and he knew he had a fighting chance to take it and set Elpis free. Asma was upset because she held back the information. It had been weeks since she was aware of where the Dagger was and she didn't tell him? At first, his anger almost had him squeeze her arm but he held himself back. Violence wasn't needed. He didn't want to see the fear in her eyes, she who already feared him. He watched as Asma stiffened and nearly choked on a sob before she tucked some pink strands behind her ear. She took her time to deliver the new but that didn't matter because now he knew. He had time to research for a way not to harm her when Elpis would be set free and knew that a spell and blood magic had to be involved. Khrön told her that Leviathan had the dagger and the spell to break the curse without hurting the host was hidden in its handle. So he had to take the dagger from the primeval god. That was a huge task at hand, something he couldn't carry without being completely prepared. A primeval god was no joke and Pride knew that he would need to have a weapon to defeat them. With all the stories Elpis told him about her siblings back when they were together, he knew Leviathan had to be one of the worst and one of the most powerful too. He would get to work on it. But first, he needed to take those tears off of the human eyes. So he grabbed her cheeks with both hands and pulled her into a kiss.

Confused Asma looked at him with questioning eyes « Aren't you mad? »

« Oh, I am mad. I am furious even. You shouldn't have left the house. »

« Why the kiss then? I thought you would... I thought you wouldn't want to see me after. »

« I have new information thanks to your silly decision to leave the safe house. Besides, I am closer than ever to set Elpis free and I promise you that we would spend some time together. »

« R-really? » He nodded. « I'll try to make amends then for my behavior. » She said winding her arms around his waist. « I'll be good to you. »

« I know you will. You've been good to me for quite some time now. I am not worried about it. » He pulled her closer to his frame, leaning his chin on top of her head. « I want you to enjoy the time we have left together before you forget. »

« Yeah...before I forget. » She shrugged and hugged him tighter. He would soon vanish from her mind and there was nothing she could do about it. Of course, it was for the best, because Pride wanted her to be happy and because she had done everything she could to take care of herself and him too. Because she had grown feelings for him that should never have and she needed a fresh start. Because she was kind and innocent and had been influenced enough by gods and sins alike. Asma was a victim and surprisingly enough, one Pride didn't want to claim. No. He would make his sword, he would take care of the human until he was ready to fight Leviathan and then, once he would crush the primeval god and return them to the void he came from, then he would set Elpis free. It was about damn time and for the first time in a long while, he felt as if he had the upper hand.
