Trivia and headcanon (Lux): Love //Death:

Love: Lux has been in love once with a handsome sculptor called Paolo, during the Renaissance. She was his muse, and Paolo sculpted her. He was a gentle soul who wasn't scared of her true form and who wanted her to embrace her true features when they were together, whereas others before her wanted her to forget about her true nature or to have her hide it from them. Paolo's love helped Lux reconnect with her inner self and humanity, and she was able to express tenderness and kindness. She was able to cry again, to feel again, and to find meaning in her life. Her sire and sibling noted that she was the most vibrant she's ever been in centuries and encouraged this relationship as Lux was her most pleasant. Unfortunately, he was killed by a jealous sculptor who wanted his fame. It broke her heart so bad that she tried to kill herself by stepping into the sun. Her sire and brother stopped her and it took a while for Lux to recover. She swore to never fall in love ever again. Did she have acquaintances and relationships before and after Paolo? Yes, she did, but it wasn't love. It was infatuation that didn't blossom, mostly because of the other party. When she met Jake, she didn't expect to fall for him. She was attracted to his voice, to his trauma, to his blood, and his jokes, and the more time she spent with him, the more she was in touch with her humanity. She grew so attached to Jake that she became overprotective of him. She is struggling with her feelings because she knows he will die, and she doesn't want to suffer from the loss of him. Yet, she can't help but love him. She can't help but want him. She can't help but wish for him to share her life for however long he can.

Death: Lux died once. She had to become a vampire. She doesn't remember a lot of what led her to willingly choose death, but she remembers her despair and the sensation of being trapped in a situation that was worse than death. She embraced vampiredom with grace and thought nothing of immortality for centuries. Yet, after 1000 years as a vampire, it started to wear her down. Everything became meaningless; her life felt meaningless. Then she fell in love with Paolo, her Italian sculptor in the Renaissance. She felt alive again and she tried to live the moment to its fullest, given his fragile nature as a human. His death devastated her to the point that she tried to step into the sun and was saved by her Sire and "sibling".  She recovered from her heartbreak and returned to her life, thinking that it was meaningless to live for this long for basically no purpose. Since meeting Jake, however, Lust wants to die. She wants to experience life with him, give it meaning, and then die afterwards when he's of old age and about to die. She wants him to become her last. But at the same time, she's also not really ready to die and would fight for her life. It's complicated with her. really complicated.

Chronicles of Lux and Tenebrae: Epilogue 2: All Hail the King!

Chronicles of Lux and Tenebrae: Epilogue 2: All Hail the King!

A/ N: Epilogue 2, from Tenebrae's POV.

Xxxxxxx

All Hail the King! I can still hear the voices of my people as they celebrated me. Those who, not so long ago would run away from me and call me a monster where now cheering for me. I owe it to Lux who paved the way for me when we returned to her realm. She so bravely explained what happened and why their queen would not return to the realm with such a passion and love that I ought to do the same for my father. My father was a complicated man. He didn't know how to open to anyone who wasn't Life. I understand that now. He had loved me from the very first day of my conception. He wanted me to become strong and understand my power so I wouldn't hurt anyone with it. He just never told me he loved me. I wondered as Lux explained to the masses what went down with Time if I wasn't too harsh with my old man. Was it selfish of me to want a dad instead of a father? I wanted someone to care for me like Life cared for Lux. I wanted someone in my life, who would tell me bedtime stories, who would teach me how to use my powers, who would tell me about Love after I met Lux. I wanted it to be him and not the harpies but they were my dad when my father wasn't one. Was it selfish of me to want my father not to sacrifice himself in his fight against Time? I realized he loved me, we mended some of our broken bonds when we talked previous to the battle but I felt it wasn't enough. He got away too easily. He got away too easily.

All Hail the king! I can still see the joyful face of my beloved as she looked at me while the crowd was cheering. She had helped me grow over the millennia. She was the first to accept me as I was, without artifices, and disguise. She wasn't scared of my power, let alone of my temper. She truly filled the void that existed in my heart and from the moment we saw each other, I knew deep down that I wanted to be with her. She glowed like the sun, like the Light I have been so desperate to have in my life. She glowed like a beacon, a beacon of Hope in this deserted land that was my heart. I lived the moment I loved her. To have her by my side, as I was crowned king of the End realm truly was a blessing for me. I held her hand as we walked towards my chambers. I know there are challenges waiting ahead of us. Time might have been our biggest enemy, he essentially was our parents. As the new ruler of both realms, it wouldn't surprise me if we made enemies along the way. I am confident that with my beloved by my side, we would be unbeatable and we would continue what our parents before us had accomplished. I do not feel the weight of my responsibilities as she is by my side. I know I can be the best version of me because she showed me I could. Together there is nothing we can't do. After all, we're the Alpha and the Omega, aren't we? As we are now alone in my room and I can feel her warm hands' cup face, I lean into her touch. I relish her love as she pressed her forehead against mine. Hail Hail the King...

Chronicles of Lux and Tenebrae: Epilogue 1: Supernova

Chronicles of Lux and Tenebrae: Epilogue 1: Supernova

A/ N: Epilogue 1, from Lux POV.

Xxxxxxx

The Queen is dead, Long live the Queen! I can still hear the clamor of the crowd as I stepped forward and was crowned the new queen of the Realm of all Beginnings. I made sure that they all knew the sacrificing mother had made for their sake as well as Death's sacrifice too. I made sure to tell the story as Tenebrae and I have experienced and while it was painful to open up to the World, it felt liberating for Tenebrae and me to stand into the light and embrace our new life. I was the queen now, bestowed by my mother of the power to rule her world and ensure the carefully crafted cycle of life and death. I promised myself that I wouldn't let her down and would ensure peace and continuity in all existence. The queen is dead, technically speaking, Mother isn't. It took me a while to overcome my grief. I couldn't spend a day without crying because my mother wasn't here with me anymore. I have already lost my brothers, who I know are safe in the End realm. I am lucky enough to be able to talk to them and tell them about life up at home.

I am lucky enough to be able to see and touch them because I can't visit mother. Tenebrae and I agreed that in order to protect their secret location, we wouldn't visit them. Besides, after being unable to stay together for millennia, maybe now was the time to leave them at peace. They were after all, forever holding hand and staring at each other while ensuring the safety of the universe. They were together at long last, so why would we disturb this fragile balance? What would mother say if I were weak enough to come to her statue and whine and cry about how much I miss her guidance? I have gone past the need for her advice, I have gone past living in her shadow. Long live the queen! My old self is in the past now, the princess I mean. I was a strong soul, a powerful warrior, a dedicated daughter who was broken by my mother's enemies. My death traumatized me and not being able to remember Tenebrae, while his face was familiar didn't help. Regaining those memories only to learn that two of my brothers were dead didn't help and everything went too fast for me to digest.

Well, now I have. I have made peace with how things were and I have made peace with how things are. I am the queen. I am the leader of my people and for what it's worth, I am with Tenebrae. We've come a long way from hiding our relationship to openly living it. He came a long way from feeling like an outcast to truly being his own self. He worked hard, for his people to respect and love him. He opened up, aided by my presence, encouraged by our love and softened up to his own people. He finally was able to show them what I have always seen in him. He was Tenebrae, without restraint, self-doubt, and shackles. He was the one I fell in love with. He was the king. When I was in danger, he stepped up. When we fought against our enemies, he stepped up. His bravery shone through during trying times, but his love, his love blossomed. I love him, I love him so much. Please, Tenebrae, my love, now that we are finally free and reached the sky, maybe it's time for us to go supernova.

Chronicles of Lux and Tenebrae: The End

Chronicles of Lux and Tenebrae: Time

« I can't see anything ! » - Lux's voice echoed through the thick smoke-

The Keeper of Secrets said they couldn't kill an eternal. The only way to get rid of one was to send them to the Vanishing Point and it required the presence of both the Alpha and the Omega to perform such a miracle. How could they win against Time? It didn't take long for Death to confirm that Time was indeed his creator and orchestrated the attack against Life in an attempt to destroy her. The Four Horsemen were supposed to lay waste on Earth and destroy everything beyond repair and they would have if Death had not fallen in love with her. His motives were obscure and boiled down to wanting to eliminate Life because she was revered and worshipped more than he ever was. He was the first eternal and should have remained as such. When Life came to be, quickly followed by other gods, he realized that he couldn't do otherwise but accept their existence and enforce his leadership. They respected him, as their elder and genuinely followed his advice and commands. However, it soon proved not to be enough for the eternal. Life quickly became essential in all of the universes. She was the most revered eternal, so much so that Time followed. He was nothing more but a way to measure one's existence. He was nothing more but added value to Life.

« I'm here, Lux. » -Tenebrae's hand held onto her shoulder but he was also blinded by the smoke. He couldn't see clearly what was going on but he was hoping for a quick resolution. « I'm here. »
«Good! »-She narrowed her gaze in a desperate attempt at spotting something in between the heavy smoke but could not distinguish anything, not even a vague form.- « What had just happened? »

They couldn't understand, not even after it was proven that Time was behind the attacks. Death didn't want to rationalize the actions of what essentially was a rogue god. Time resented Life, he realized that there was a need for a quick end of both the wildlife and humanity, Life's greatest creation. He didn't want her to boast about her powers or the creative ways in which she used them so he created the Four Horsemen. They would have the power to destroy her creations and everything that would come from her -but wouldn't be able to kill her, for none could kill an eternal-. It was a well-crafted plan, he thought he had control over the Horsemen and he did....up until Life met Death. Time witnessed aghast, as Death fell in love with Life and realized that he could be more than just a puppet at the hands of Time. With him gone awol, it became difficult for Time to successfully destroy Earth. The other 3 Horsemen were betrayed by their brother and sent to the Vanishing Point, thus forcing the eternal to change his plans.

Since he couldn't defeat Life, then he would take everything from her, starting with her one and true love, Death. As cruel as it might have been, it served Time well to craft a « prophecy » that would prevent his enemies to fraternize. He didn't expect them to have a progeny but when Lux and Tenebrae were born, extending the prophecy to them came naturally. If they couldn't get close, then Time had nothing to fear. Princess Despair offered Time the opportunity to set the Horsemen free and with them, destroy Life's realm and kill everyone the queen cared about. He didn't count on the strength and bravery of princess Lux and the fact Life was able to banish the horsemen from her realm, using almost all of her strength. He didn't think she would have enough to bring her daughter back to life and was forced to change his plan when she did.

« Let's get closer! » -Lux assessed. She summoned a large shield to protect her as she started to walk forward. Just in front of them should be Time, Death and Life fighting.-

« I'm right behind you. The wind and the light blind me, Lux! » -Tenebrae said, holding her shoulder tighter as they started to walk towards the battlefield.-

« Hold on tight! We're soon...There ?? »

The smoke cleared as they walked closer to the source and what they found horrified the two heirs. Life, Time and Death turned into a marble sculpture. The elder god was solidified with his arm left up towards the sun. Death and Life had one of their hands on his shoulders and entwined the fingers of their free hands. They were looking at each other and were smiling. The princess shield vanished and she fell on her knees while Tenebrae widely opened her eyes. He walked towards the sculpture. Were they alive? The prince put his hand on Life's shoulder and felt the warmth. He glanced past his shoulders, his black eyes noticing the distressed goddess who was screaming and crying at the horror before her. He knitted his brows, confused and maybe angry at his own father as he walked around the sculpture and stood in front of his father. Death looked larger than life, huge as he always seemed to be in the young man's life. The son's eyes were filled with unshed tears and he laid a flat hand on his shoulder.

« Father, is that what you meant when you said I had to prepare myself to be the King? » There was no response from the sculpture, of course, how could he answer when he was turned into a living statue? « I will find the best-suited place on Earth to put you three at. A place untouched by mankind, where nature thrived. I will find you a place that is in the shadow and yet still full of life and Light so you two could protect us from Time. » His fingers clenched into a fist. « I wished I had more time, Father, more time to tell you that I am sorry for the troubles I caused. I failed to see your love for me. I failed to see your sacrifice and understand you. I failed to show you more love when I could have...But I love you, Father.»

Lux was still wailing, unable to stop herself from crying at the sight of her petrified mother. She wanted to do something, anything to make sure that this wasn't real but she knew it was the best way to stop Time. An eternal couldn't be killed, but it could be imprisoned forever. Their parents chose their destiny and an eternal life spent together, holding off the most powerful evil they could, while simultaneously still existing was a tricky but necessary choice. Life, Death and Time would still exist, ensuring the protection of Mankind and preservation of Earth. It was rational, but it was impossible for the young princess to accept it. Not after she had lost two of her brothers, not after she had just reunited with her mother. They couldn't be gone forever...They couldn't...She felt Tenebrae's hands hold onto her shoulders and squeezed them harder. Her wet eyes focused on his face and she bit her bottom lip.

« They're gone... They're gone Tenebrae... » -Her voice cracked due to the screams she let out-

« They are still here, Lux. They're not dead, just petrified. » He spoke in a soft voice, in an attempt to calm the princess who couldn't help but cry at the sight of her mother. « They told us we were their legacy and we will be. Rise, Lux! Rise as the new Queen of the Realm of all Beginnings. »

She nodded and slowly rose on her feet. It all culminated to this moment when Life and Death sacrificed themselves so their children could live the life they wanted to live. Lux held onto Tenebrae's hand and looked up at his face, searching for reassurance. Everything went too fast for the princess, but she knew she could handle it as long as Tenebrae would be by her side. He squeezed her hand and snapped his fingers, teleporting both the statue and them to a virgin remote island where they knew no human would go because it was made of mountains. Before he snapped his fingers again, Lux put her hand on his chest.

« Wait... »

« Lux ?... » He felt her hand go up and cup his alabaster cheek. Her silver eyes glowed brightly as she was still overwhelmed. He leaned into her touch, the blood that was drying on his chin and cheek soaked her hand but she didn't care.

« I do not know what tomorrow as in store for us...Now that we are king and Queen of our respective realms. »

« We can choose now. » -He smiled at her and gently stroked her cheek with the back of his hand.- « We can be whoever we want to be. » -He kissed her forehead.- « Question is, Do you want me to be with you? »

« Yes...Yes, I want to. » -She hastily said, her thumb stroking his cheek.-« I have always wanted to be with you Tenebrae, from the moment I saw you today, my only wish was to be with you. »-She gave him a faint smile.-« I love you. »

« I love you too. » He said covering her hand with his. « Then we can be whoever we want to be. » -She nodded.- « Lt us go, Lux... We have to. » She nodded and held his hand again. He planted another kiss on top of her forehead and snapped his fingers to teleport them. It seemed like an end, but it was just the beginning.

Chronicles of Lux and Tenebrae: Fate

A/N: Last time we had Tenebrae, now we have his father. Death. Tackling their reconciliation through Death's POV and a monologue.

xxxx

"Tenebrae, my son. I wasn't a very good father. I now realize that my inability to connect with my only son left a bitter taste in my mouth. Instead of sheltering you by distancing myself from you, I should have given you more love. I should have been there, by your side, and let you know how proud I am as a father. You came to me earlier, claiming that you understood my affection for Life. That, because of your own romance with her daughter, Lux, you could understand me better. That you and I are alike. This is, dare I say, kind of you to think of me as your equal but in truth, you have surpassed me.

Yes, my son, you have surpassed me. I was nothing but a tool at the hands of our common enemy. Nothing but a means to an end. A monster with a single purpose. I became something more when I met Life. She gave me the strength to become my own person. My own god. I had a better mission, a mission that complemented the work she was doing on Earth rather than bring destruction. I, Death, became part of a cycle that is essential to every living being on Earth. I broke free of my chains but you my son... you were born free. You always had the choice to become who you wanted to be.

I didn't want to influence you the way my maker did influence me. I wanted you to determine for and by yourself the life you wanted to lead. In doing so, I appeared cold and unloving while it couldn't be further from the truth. I watched you as you grew older and more powerful. I watched as you discovered your powers. I also watched as you met Lux and the two of you formed a relationship that was forbidden by our elder, Time. Here you are today, my little Chaos...The void incarnate. A capable ruler of the End Realm. A capable king. Ah! Aren't we running out of time? I guess this is how someone ready to meet their end would react. Don't cry for me Tenebrae, Be proud. My time will come for I will not survive the fight. If we want to defeat Time, we would need to sacrifice more than you can ever think of. So, yes, this are farewells. Raise your chin, my son, for you will replace me as the ruler of the End Realm. Raise your chin, my son, for you will make your father proud."

Chronicles of Lux and Tenebrae: Starlight

Chronicles of Lux and Tenebrae: Starlight

A/ N: My poor babes. Tenebrae's having a moment of doubt. He knows things will get ugly very soon and he is at one inch to lose his shit and maybe, maybe Lux when he does get there. (as if he could ever lose her)

xxxxxxx

I am the son of Death, the void incarnate. I am Tenebrae, the prince of Darkness, the God without fears, and yet I am afraid. I am afraid of what comes next. The Realm of All Beginnings is a very strange place. They all look at me as if I was a hero and I have yet to get used to their faces full of gratitude and relief. Not even my own subjects look at me the same way. They are afraid of me. They would talk sweet talk, plaster fake smiles on their faces when I would be near because they would not want to disappear into the void, should I feel angry. My own people...They are right to be afraid of me, I have tremendous power after all. I am so powerful that if I really trained and wanted to, I could swallow Eternals and keep them inside of me. I could make them disappear into the void. Even I wouldn't want to stay with me.

I am the son of Death, the void incarnate. I am Tenebrae, the Prince of Darkness, the unloved one. and yet, here she was again, as beautiful as I remember her. I find myself stunned by her beauty, inspired by her strength, amazed by her courage. Even when she was powerless and couldn't remember anything, she was able to protect me. She put her life in line for me, in a heartbeat, without even thinking. I was reminded just how grand Lux was. How selfless she was despite fear crippling her heart. Here she was again, in her full glory, still loving me. And I am afraid. I am afraid of losing her again. I was desperate when I heard that she had died, centuries ago. She was my starlight, the only soul to have ever loved me. She was the only one to trust me with her life and to believe I could be more than just the son of Death. I died when she did, I became obsessed with revenge because I have lost my drive. I want to tell her I wasn't as strong as I wish I was. I want to tell her that I couldn't keep my anger in check, that loneliness was devouring me. I want to tell her that I was driven mad by her absence and I wasn't the man she thought I was. I was weak. I was lonely. I was broken.

I am the son of Death, the void incarnate. I am Tenebrae, the Prince of Darkness, the untamed one. Yet, she brought me to my knees. My beloved goddess of Light. She made a man out of me, a creature capable of feelings. She made me want to be the best version of me, a better prince, a better son. Her compassion and love guided me and still do. Her affection drove me and still does. We are one. I have never felt this whole before she came into my life. I have never felt like myself before I met her. I have never felt this strongly about someone, nor did I feel the urge to protect them and make sure they were happy. She made me see my existence as something more than an eternal state of penance. I discovered joy, warmth, a desire to see Tomorrow come. I discovered a side of me I thought never existed, she revealed it to the light. How could I live up to her expectations? I see her love in her eyes and I see how much she cares for me. I hear in her voice how much she believes in me, even now, even after I lashed out. How could I live up to her expectations? How could I not be who I am? How could I not hurt her some days? Prophecies say we are the Alpha and the Omega and we are destined to be together, I'm supposed to make her happy and when I look at her, this is what I see... And yet, yet...It could all change with a flick of my finger...So I am afraid.

Chronicles of Lux and Tenebrae: Reunion

A/ N: It was about time! Heavily centered around Life and Death though.

xxxxxxxx

« Alas, daughter, we cannot mourn for your brother more than we already did. »

Life's voice was stern but soft. She looked at her daughter who was trying her best to contain her tears During the attack sustained by the Realm of all beginnings, Life lost three children and only could bring back her only daughter. It caused her great grieves since she woke from her coma, to have to bury her sons knowing full well they would never come back and were destined to Death's realm. She knew he would take good care of their souls -which he did- and knew they would have a happy life in the End Realm. That didn't sting less. That still hurt her just like it did hurt her daughter who was crying ever since she learned the truth. Life's ebony face looked at Death who was on her right. He put his hand on his heart and slightly bowed before her.

« I suspect we are not done yet, Death. I thought the Horsemen were our only enemies. »

« They were the armed hand of our enemy, beloved. You are still not safe. Allow me to ensure your safety for the time being. »

His onyx orbs stared at the goddess who was sitting on her throne. She had not changed since the first time he laid his eyes on her. Like all the eternal, she was huge, only slightly smaller than he was. Her skin was flawlessly ebony like his own was purely white. Her hair, which she had jet black, was hidden under a golden veil. Her body was draped with gold trimmed toga that fully covered the goddess from head to toe. She didn't wear a crown, but a white diamond crowned her forehead.

« What does it entail, Death? Does that mean you are to stay here until we've unmasked the enemy? »

« I need the evidence that Time is the mastermind behind your attack. Besides, you are still not safe. Another attack could happen, hence the presence of our children by your side. »

« Are you already leaving me? » -She asked, tilting her head to the side.-

The trip was surprisingly fast. Lux, Death and his son rode their ways to Life's realm. The princess was nervous about the reunion. She spent centuries on Earth, with her memories of her family, her subjects and the court of the queen blocked from her mind. It was intimidating to say the very least. Everywhere she looked at, people would bow before her, torn between crying for her return and the very fact she was indeed, brought back from the dead and happy about her victory over the Horsemen of Apocalypse. It was a triumphant return Home, with familiar faces embracing her return regardless of how much they feared Death and his son. The Realm of All Beginnings was still recovering from the destruction caused by the Horsemen of Apocalypse. Despite the damages it sustained, its beauty never faded. Unlike the End realm, everything inhabiting it was alive, from the plants to the fauna, to the queen's court.

« Do not fret, beloved. I am going to stay until we are sure that Time is our enemy. I already found the one who summoned my brothers from the Vanishing Point. Princess Despair. »

The palace was made of Gold and rubies, with hints of emeralds to remind her of the End Realm. It was an explosion of senses, the perfect harmony between fauna, flora and timeless architecture. Tenebrae had never been to the Golden Palace, never did he spend time with so much life surrounding him. The bright light of the Realm of all Beginnings was still overwhelming the prince whose face became somber by the minute. There was a lot to unpack here, from the discovery of the bond their parents shared, to the fact the Elder Time was responsible for the attacks. The Palace was breathtaking and under any other circumstances, Tenebrae would have appreciated the decorations. The ceilings were a collection of the classic arts and the most recent ones, adding to the infinite history of Mankind and reflecting off all the existing cultures. The ensemble was harmonious, with each hallway or room decorated according to a specific style. The colors remained harmonious, to go well with the golden tone of the place.

It was quite strange to watch these two eternal interact with each other for their children. Death was softer than usual, a smile never left his face as soon as he saw Life. He was adoring the goddess and his adoration transpired from the longing looks he was giving her to the fact he almost had colors on his pale face. Tenebrae felt as if his father was reborn and he realized that the affection he might have for Life, the prince had for Lux. Could they bond over their mutual love for these women ? Eventually... the situation was too tense for the prince to dwell on his father's love affairs. Instead, he pinched the bridge of his nose when his father mentioned princess Despair's name. She had escaped the mind of the prince! Ashamed, Tenebrae ran his hand into his white mane.

« Tenebrae... it's alright. It's alright. » Lux' voice tore him off of his thoughts. He groaned painfully and looked at her hands on his chest.

« What if I was the one who created this mess? » -He whispered to her. Lux furrowed her brows and shook her head.

« You are not responsible for someone else action. You do not have to take responsibility for her mistakes. » He shook his head, quickly losing his calm until she cupped his cheek, effectively calming the prince who looked at her. « Look at me Tenebrae. She loved you but you loved me and /I/ love you. »

His onyx gaze shifted from left to right before it focused on her. With just her voice she succeeded in calming the prince who finally smiled at her and wrapped his hand around her wrist. He leaned his forehead against hers and closed his eyes, his breath returning to normal. Lux closed her eyes and focused her attention on the eternal. Since Death answered her question, they have been silent. Her mother was thinking of their next move and that slight crease on her forehead was very revealing. She knew they had to locate the princess and take her from her prison before Time used her to open the Vanishing Point again and their only chance would be that the princess was unable to open it because her hatred towards the prince and her daughter would not be as strong as it used to be. Death, however, was still caught in contemplating the woman before him. It was very strange for Lux to see the embodiment of the End of everything be smitten over someone like he was over her mother. But it was the irrefutable proof that they were in love. Life was a stern woman, most of the time, but she could let go of her rough exterior to show a warmer side of her. Despite the importance and dreadfulness of the situation, her gaze was warm, her hand was held between Death's larger hands and she was looking at him. Their hands were creating sparkles just like Lux and Tenebrae when they touched but it seemed to draw short-lived arabesques in the air and seemed like they were dancing in harmony.

« You haven't changed. » Life finally said, tearing herself off of her thoughts.

« Why would I? I am like the last day we've seen each other, except far happier than on that day because I am with you again. »

« The prophecy was a lie, a way to punish us for falling in love. Isn't it too late? I married someone else and we both have children. We made a choice thousands of year ago. » She sounded sad, defeated. « We have lost so much of our lives being apart from one another. »

« I will love you for all eternity. My vows remain. Our children are the manifestation of that love we couldn't live. » He leaned his forehead against the back of her hand. « Beloved, today isn't the day we live in regrets. We cannot afford to. »

« I...I can't help but wonder how our existence would have been if we were not...if Time had not convinced us fraternizing would cause the doom of the world. But you are right, our children fell in love with each other as we once did. » A faint smile crept on her lips before she put her other hand on top of Death. « I am glad your son found my daughter and protected her until she recovered her powers and memory. The palace is well guarded and I have recovered my full strength. Please make yourself home. My daughter is back and we shall celebrate her return properly. » She then turned her head and looked at her handmaid. A large brunette with a gold strapless dress. «Agathe? Please, inform the palace we're having a feast tonight. Our princess had returned, our palace is almost restored to its glory, I am awake and our enemies have been vanquished so far. Ensure that every subject of the realm has food on their table, let the music play, go on Agathe, go on. » She said nodding as her handmaid left the throne room in a hurry.

« A feast? Right now? Isn't it celebrating too early? » Tenebrae asked, worried about being surrounded with people. He disliked crowds, even in his own realm so how was he supposed to handle a crowd in the brightest realm of them all? He gulped down, his eyes slowly turning fully black but Lux held onto his hand tighter.

« We do need our victories. A couple of days before, I took a sword for you, I think you can take a feast for me. » She playfully said before she pressed her lips to his. « Now, now that also means we will have to bathe and get ready for the feast. » She turned to her mother. « Can I take King Death and Prince Tenebrae to their chambers? »

« Yes you can, my child. I have to talk to the king and prepare him for seeing our daughter again. I shall... » She knew how much it hurt her old flame to hear her mention her husband. Deep down, it reminded him of what it could have been. Life felt it and quietly bent forward to kiss Death's forehead slowly. It was the most she could do given the circumstances, but her touch soothed the King who cupped her cheek with his large pale hand. « I shall bid you farewell for now... »

« Farewell, my queen. »

He straightened up and let Lux lead both his son and him to their chambers.

Chronicles of lux and Tenebrae : their touch

Chronicles of Lux and Tenebrae: their touch

A/N: it was time for them to get together.

Xxxxx

It was a maelstrom of a moment. A cacophony of feelings and emotions that conflicted with one another. Lux' memories were restored to her and with them, her powers came back. It was to be celebrated and yet, there were bigger concerns to focus on. Her mother, Life, was still in danger and they still did not stop the mastermind behind the attacks. The identity of their enemy wasn't discovered yet and without being completely sure, Death accused their elder god, Time, to be the one behind those attacks.

He could not prove it just yet but his insistence on breaking Life and Death eternal love and forbidding their heirs to fall in love somehow added doubt. Fate warned Death when he visited her without naming his enemy and everything led to believe Time was trying to destroy Life and reduce Death to nothingness and eventually submission. It would make sense after all. Death strayed away from
His main goal when he met Life and instead of complete destruction he sought real balance. The children had to think of what would come next but they were confused by the joy of having each other together again. Joy and sorrow danced together at this moment. So much so that Tenebrae froze when lux returned from her much needed a bath.

"You froze again." -her soft voice echoed through the large chamber as the prince cleared his throat with a cough-

"You have not changed, beloved."

"Only a few centuries exist since last time we saw each other. Why would I be different?"

she teased him while she dropped her robe at her feet so he could look at her in all her glory. The prince bit his bottom lip and ran his hand into his white hair in utter shock.  While she was taking a bath, he changed the sheets for his room, cleaned his chambers so there would have no trace of the blood she had lost. He even changed his attire, opting for comfortable pants and a white shirt. He sat down for a minute and started to think of what had just happened. Moments ago, he was certain she would die.

She was stabbed by horseman War in an attempt to protect the prince and should have died once again. He wasn't sure why she survived and why recovering her memories helped her heal but he wouldn't question this. It didn't matter for she was here. When her memories were lacking, she did fall in love with Tenebrae again and it gave him hope again. He wasn't lonely anymore, he had found his purpose again. Here she was, standing before him again. Her body strong and curvy, exuding strength and sensuality. His eyes lit up, as his gaze wandered from her face to her full breasts, her toned abs, and her wet sex.

"Won't you come closer? I want to see you."

She asked, a little hesitant. Last time they saw each other was before their parents decided it would be best if they didn't see each other anymore. They spent their last night in a rush, afraid they would not have enough of each other. She remembered their tears, the cracks in their voice, the promise of finding each other. Their last night was bitter and the memory of it brought sadness on her face.  Tenebrae stood up straight away and walked towards her. His onyx orbs danced up and down her frame and he finally closed the distance between them and cupped her cheeks.

He was at loss of words, but it didn't matter. She lifted her head and stared into his eyes. She put her ebony hands on his pale ones and slowly glowed. He watched as black horns slowly grew from
The sides of her head and expended to reach the size of a deer's antlers. He watched as her ebony skin reflected on the light her aura cast on her and how her gorgeous face took a more alien form. Unlike his father and his own skull faces, Life and Lux true forms were a mix of human and animal form. Lux had a face akin to a humanoid doe. Her ears were still humans, her body was still fairly human if not for the sheer size of hers and long arms and legs. Tenebrae's true form manifested as well. Unable to keep it from her, his face vanished and was replaced by a skull. His whole body grew in size, kept a human appearance save for the demon pale hands of his.  Orange flames engulfed his skull as she held onto his wrists.

"I see you. At long last!"  -she finally said, her thumbs stroking his wrist- "I realized that even if my memories of you were lost for all eternity, I still found a way to fall in love with you."

"You kept your words."  -His soul smiled as he spoke to her. While she was engulfed in light, he was engulfed in darkness.- "you loved me in this new life of yours."

"And I will always..." she felt as he moved forward, his flaming skull rested against hers. "We will soon see mother but I want to be with you."

"I want to."

Tenebrae said as his human face returned. He pressed his lips to hers, as her face returned to her humanoid self. She lost her fingers into his white mane, enjoying the soft contrast between their skins and the enjoyable sparkles caused by the friction of their skins. She bit his wrist and nuzzled the  tender skin of his arm. He sunk his claws into the supple flesh of her rear and rubbed her neck. Lux gasped but kept her arms wrapped around his neck. Tonight the Alpha and the Omega would become one. Tenebrae and Lux were finally fully reunited. For a moment that would seem like a blink of an eye, these two would know bliss. They would know serenity. They will finally commune again and there was nothing Time or anyone else could do.

Chronicles of Lux and Tenebrae: Sins of the parents

Chronicles of Lux and Tenebrae: Sins of the parents

/ know it's supposed to be Lux and Tenebrae's story but their parents keep popping in my mind. :p

He was the end made flesh, the one that was supposed to destroy all life on Earth. He was supposed to ride with his brothers until there was nothing left of Earth and yet, things didn't go as planned. Death met Life. One day while he was riding on his own in an attempt to test the limits of his powers, he met the goddess. She was standing in the middle of what seemed to be a battlefield filled with the bodies of monsters and fallen men that laid at her feet. She was looking at them with a stunning silver gaze filled with compassion, an emotion he couldn't decipher just yet. She felt his presence and turned to look at him. It was at this moment that Death was born.

She awoke something inside of him that confused the deity at first. She filled his chest with her essence and little by little, the feelings he had for her gave him a "heart". She helped him reach consciousness, she helped him become his own person. No longer was he the puppet of his maker, hell-bent on destroying everything. He saw the beauty of Life. He saw the beauty of what she created and the importance of balance. He was the embodiment of Death and as such, assumed a new duty. He would no longer seek the destruction of everything but rather would help regulate Life on Earth. He would collect the souls of the dead and offer them a new home, in his realm. He would let this world thrive rather than destroy it because she showed him the beauty of this world and helped him become his own person.

She made a free god out of him. Love did. He broke free of his chains and turned against his brothers. Time intervened and claimed that Life and Death couldn't get together. Being the eldest of all deities, the two gods didn't question his claim. He knew everything, had seen everything and wanted the best for them. So they ended their relationship and parted ways. Life would be above, in the Realm of All Beginnings where she would marry and conceive children, including Lux. Death would stay below, in the End Realm, where he would conceive a child, Tenebrae. Sins of the Father, sins of the Son. History repeats itself. Always. It seemed like an unwritten rule that affected the parents and the children. Tenebrae, son of Death and god of Darkness met Lux, daughter of Life and goddess of Light. He fell in love with her and the pair banished the horsemen of Apocalypse, just like Death and Life did in the past.

Sins of the Mother, Sins of the Daughter. Lux died because of Life's love for Death. The goddess of Life knew from the moment she met the god of death that they should never fraternize because they were polar opposite and yet... she fell in love with him, up to this day. That love cursed her with the anger of his siblings who swore to destroy her and everything she held dear, starting with Lux. If it wasn't for one last effort, the princess would have been lost forever. Why would such a beautiful thing like Love be punished by dread, pain and fear? It was unfair and cruel that the children of two souls entwined with passion and love would suffer like Tenebrae and Lux did.

All of that because She broke his chains? All of that because he became his own king? All of that because for the first time in his life decided for himself? It seemed to be, after all, the one who would work his best to squash your resistance would be the first unhappy to see you resist, rebel and win. Sins of the Father, Sins of the Son. Sins of the Mother, Sins of the Daughter; History repeats itself, it always does.

But the ending, this time, might just be different.

chronicles of Lux and Tenebrae: Remembering

A snap of his fingers and Tenebrae teleported to the End Realm. He carried his wounded beloved to his chambers. The prince figured out that she would have the best chance to survive if he took her to his place, but truth to be told, Tenebrae was losing his mind over Lux being stabbed. She could have moved away, she should have moved away so he would have been hit instead of her. He was the son of Death, he was the Void, he would have found a way to protect himself from the attacks and survive but she protected him and because she did, she was dying, or so he thought. The princess was still fully conscious as her beloved took her back to his chambers. Her black locks were soaked with her blood, as well as her face because of Tenebrae's bloody hands that kept holding her cheeks and stroking her hair on the battlefield. The scent was nauseating, truly. She was used to fighting, a little bit of blood wasn't a problem but for some reasons, this time it was. Maybe it was because she couldn't heal from her injury since her powers weren't back and she was contemplating dying again. Maybe it was the distraught face of her beloved that turned the situation into a nightmare. Lux was wondering how bad her injury was because of the prince's face. Her silver eyes never quite left his as he was tending to her wound.

« Why did you do it, Lux? Why? »

He couldn't use a spell to heal her. Because she was alive and he was dead, none of the spells he knew actually worked on her. If he tried to cast a healing spell on her, it would have the opposite effect so he didn't even try. The prince was mortified at the idea of losing her again. If she died while Life was still in a coma, she would be dead for good so he cupped Lux' cheek and hoped for her wound to not be critical. She smiled faintly and put her hand above his.

« Because I had to. » She said after she breathed in. « I just had to protect you. » She smiled through the pain before she leaned into the soft pillow. Tenebrae knitted his brows, his face slowly fading and turning into a skull. « I am not going to die, Tenebrae. » -She tried to reassure him but the faint voice of hers didn't work on him.-

« You already died, Lux. I've lost you once. » -His voice boomed, it was altered because he was in his true form. She never feared his true appearance, never shook or shivered when in his presence because it was his real self. It was familiar even though her memory was at fault. It was familiar and she felt safe by his side. She didn't mind the flames on his face and still cupped the cheekbone, her fingers slightly burning because of that divine fire. He leaned into her touch and put his hand on her belly, to keep her steady. « I can't afford to lose you again. » He said, his flames turning even bluer. He was crying, despite the absence of tears, Lux could feel that his soul was already feeling sorrow and fear. Because they were connected, even without her full memory of him, the princess was already very close to him. She could tell the smallest variation of his body language or the tone of his voice. She knew how he felt because he was like an open-book.

When Tenebrae learned the princess had been killed, he felt as if his whole world was crumbling down at his feet. He had lost the very reason that kept him together and anchored him to his life. Lux was the only one to understand the prince and give him the love he so desperately needed. He carried this loss over the centuries spent without her, searching the Earth for her and blaming his father for his loss. When he found her after aimlessly wandering on Earth, he finally pulled himself together. He promised her she would be safe, he promised her she would regain her memory but she had not. They fought the Horsemen of the Apocalypse while she wasn't in full power and without her memories. She managed to handle herself against them but the formidable warrior he once knew was absent on the battlefield. They didn't have the choice because their enemies had started a vicious attack on humans and they had to stop it before all life on Earth was destroyed.

And here he was again, on the verge of losing her, or so it seemed. The prince would have wept if his face wasn't a skull. He was only allowed to watch and wait until eventually, she died but somehow, Hope still resided in his heart and the prince expected for a miracle to happen. He believed she wouldn't die because if she ever did, then what would happen of him? He would certainly lose the last shred of empathy he had, the last shred of love too. He would become an empty shell without his beloved and he didn't want to. A soft smile curled on her face as she stared at him. Her silver eyes glowed brightly against the dim light of the bedroom, but he didn't notice. She was still holding onto his cheekbone, keeping him close to her with a simple touch. His sorrow overwhelmed her, his darkness engulfed her and cradled the goddess as a way to soothe her pain. It was something she had never felt before, mostly because the darkness was soft and warm and comforting. It was something familiar and powerful, something that reminded her of how things were. She gave into the darkness, finding the comfort she needed in such a dire moment and words just naturally flowed.

« I can't regret what I did, Tenebrae. It's just the way I am. » -She began with.- « I only thought of protecting you. » She looked at him. « I would do it again. » She then dropped her hand. He quickly reached out and held onto her soft palm with his.

« This is how I lost you... » -His throat was tight-

« I know...It was a day like no other, peaceful and warm. Mother and I we were taking a walk and she was talking about mankind, her love for them, her duty to protect them. I should have seen it coming, I felt something in the air, something I've never truly known until then. Fear. » She coughed and closed her eyes as tight as she could. « I was afraid, but that fear didn't stop me, love, it didn't. They engaged battle and I fought hard against them, I used everything I got but then, mother was in danger. I jumped and War stabbed me through the heart. This was how I died. »

The prince didn't realize at first that she was talking about her memories. He felt the warmth of her hand becoming more intense and it forced him to look at her.

« What did you just...Lux ?...Do you remember? »

She did remember! She talked about the moments she died. She talked about what happened before the attack. She did remember and somehow his heart was beating faster because that could mean she remembered him. Confused, to the point of not knowing what to do, the prince's skull face vanished and his usually pale skin replaced it. He looked at her, his black orbs coming to life. He saw her divine aura finally returning to its full force but Tenebrae didn't dare move. He put his hand on her belly and noticed that she was finally starting to heal herself. Panic gave place to happiness as the prince's face changed and lightened up. He was smiling at the realization that she was not going to die, she had regained her energy and her memories of what possibly was a trigger event. He started to shake, unable to make a move towards her, unable to touch her. His black orbs just observed the woman and a crooked smile crept on his lips.

He didn't finish his sentence because the front door opened and his father entered his chambers. He had seen the fight unfold from Time's castle and had observed the very reactions of the Eternal. When the horsemen were defeated, it became clear that the God wasn't pleased with that outcome. He turned to Death and asked him why they allowed the daughter of Life and his son to be together and how they learned about the ritual. Death shrugged and simply said that he was estranged from his son for centuries now and didn't even know the daughter of Life had survived the fight, which was true. Time pretended to be annoyed at both the horsemen and the heirs of Life and Death but it was clear that he was more annoyed that the children became the Alpha and Omega and sent the horsemen back to the Vanishing Point. It was Death's definitive clue. Tenebrae looked at his father and held onto Lux' hands tighter.

« We need to get to your mother, Lux. »

chronicles of Lux and Tenebrae: The Alpha and the Omega

CHRONICLES OF LUX AND TENEBRAE: The Alpha and the Omega

A/ N: Welp. I'm still hell-bent on finishing this story, so here we are.

Xxxxx

It was a moment of truth. At long last, the three horsemen of Apocalypse were able to face the progenies of their sworn enemies. Death betrayed them a long time ago when he fell for Life and together they banished the Horsemen to the Vanishing Point. They allowed humans to survive and thrive in a world that didn't belong to them and because they did, the three horsemen decided to patiently wait for the seal to be broken. It took some time, so much so that they didn't remember how long it had been since they last roamed the Earth. It didn't quite matter for only their revenge and hatred did. They couldn't kill Death nor Death could kill them for they were eternal, but they could kill their offsprings. They did kill Lux once so seeing her alive and well took them by surprise. It wasn't supposed to happen. It wasn't supposed to be, but it was.

It was a moment of truth. Noises of divine metal against divine metal filled the air. Swords were swung, shields were used for protection. Spells were cast. Darkness fought the Void and the Light. The prince and the princess held their own pretty well, especially the princess since she was still deprived of her power and still couldn't remember what happened when Life's realm was attacked. They were waiting for an opportunity to hold their hands and cast the spell that would force the horsemen back to the Vanishing Point but it wasn't coming. So Tenebrae decided to change his strategy. The prince used his control over the void to teleport the princess away from him, forcing the Horsemen to split. It was a dangerous move because Lux' chances to die increased but it was a risk to take. Pestilence went against her while War and Famine took on Tenebrae. She held on her own quite well, sustained some injuries but was able to protect herself from the god and study him enough to anticipate his next move.

She learned fast, moved even faster and it gave her an edge on Pestilence up until she jumped on the side to avoid an attack and he sent decaying tentacles to wrap around her waist and pull her closer to him. She used her glaive to cut the tentacle but knew that falling might cause her severe injuries given how high she was. Her screams alerted the prince who quickly assessed the situation. She was falling and Pestilence was still at a reasonable distance from her. He could teleport and reach out to her and he should take that opportunity. War almost impaled the prince but he acted fast enough to teleport. He caught the princess in mid-air and entwined his fingers with her. He then summoned a compact black energy shield around them.

« Together, at last, we banish thee to... » All three deities were attacking the shield, causing tremendous pain to the Prince who winced and forced himself to maintain the shield. « Lux... »

« Tenebrae, you're bleeding! » She said, cupping his cheek.

« I can hold it. Let's finish it! » He said in a growl. She noticed that the shield started to crack and the ray of light pierced through the darkness. She nodded. « Together at last. » Tenebrae joined her. « We banish thee to them. » The shield broke, making the prince scream and bleed from the ears and the nose, as the attacks were too powerful for him to contain. Lux held onto him as they started to fall. « We banish thee to the... Come on... Tenebrae... We can do this. » He groaned and used his powers to teleport them to the ground so they wouldn't crash and hurt themselves. They rolled and Lux ended up on top of him. « I got you. I got you... » She knew the deities would attack but decided to protect him nonetheless.

Lux smiled at the prince as he painfully opened his eyes again. He was still dizzy from the attack they sustained, so much so that he didn't notice the sword that went through Lux' stomach. He didn't notice Pestilence, War, and Famine ready to end the two of them. Tenebrae watched in horror as her blood splashed on his face and grabbed her by the shoulders and pushed her towards him. He teleported them away from the deities and wrapped his arms around her shoulders. « Lux... Lux, please... » He stroked her cheek and put some of her black strands off of her face. The shock of the stabbing kept her awake, her eyes were wide open. Lux was shaking from head to toe. She anticipated the attack and somehow it did protect her, at least long enough for her to complete the ritual. She coughed some blood and held onto his hands. « Lux, Come on... Lux !! »

« We have to finish... » She whispered, coughing some blood. «Now. » He nodded and planted a kiss on her forehead while he tightened his hold onto her hand. « Together at last... » The began with. « ...we banish thee to the Vanishing Point. »

Their hands started to glow with an orange light and only now was Tenebrae aware of the presence of the three horsemen who were ready to kill the two heirs in one strike. He saw the tip of their swords near his face, his back, and her chest. He saw that just one second more and they would have been dead. Lux coughed some more blood, soiling her armor with her divine blood but she held onto him as tight as she could. The horsemen screamed, « NO ! » they protested and tried to escape from being pulled back into the vanishing point. A large portal opened and sucked the deities into it. The noise that existed before ended and only the two lovers were left behind. With a prince in distress and a seemingly dying princess. It couldn't be the end, now could it?
