Doya: Sarah Thomas and the plight of the hunter famliy life.

Sarah was sitting on a chair at a family-friendly restaurant where she stopped with her husband and her twin daughters. She looked exhausted, battered, and bruised. Her left wrist was wrapped in a makeshift bandage after an injury left by a monster a couple nights ago. Her bottom lip now had a deep cut, a permanent scar left by another monster she hunted months ago. Her hair had thinned out and was now minimally cared for. A shampoo here and there when needed, a couple minutes of combing, and then tied on a ponytail. She switched her fancy dresses for a more practical look, a pair of denim jeans, t-shirts, and a leather jacket with boots.

Her husband was no longer the naive man she used to know. Discovering the supernatural world and encountering monsters on a day-to-day basis forced him to become far more wary of his surroundings than before. He learned how to defend himself and his family in most monster attacks, the rituals and sigils to use to protect their peace of mind. He took it upon himself to teach their twin girls the same basis, usually as a game so they could easily remember the safety measures but they were too young to fight, way too young to defend themselves against the bigger and scarier threats.

Daniel was exhausted too but he remained cheerful in the face of adversity, taking it as yet another family adventure they were able to share together. He didn't mind sleeping less than before, he didn't mind moving around now that their house had been targeted by swaths of monsters from the time Oya and Joshua were working a huge case in the area. He found joy in this new life, he took pride in showing his little girls the wonders of the world and even managed to find a job he could do remotely. A regular job for a family dealing with monsters? Sarah didn't know what to make of it, but somehow they made it work.

< I remember when you told me that I had to protect my white-picket-fenced life. I was perplexed that you wouldn't let me return to being a hunter back then. I'm starting to see why you said it. Life's fucking hard, O. Right now... the only house I have is with them.>

She texted Oya and took a deep breath. She knew that it would be foolish to expect her life to be the same as those blissfully ignorant humans but Sarah was raised to become a hunter, she couldn't ignore the supernatural world. She couldn't afford to let her family become a target of monsters. One way or another, they would have had to fight and hit the road, so why not do it when they still can have some control over it?  Her eyes averted from her phone to her husband who yawned and pinched the bridge of his nose.  Daniel smiled at his wife and glanced at the twins who decided to focus on their food. Sarah shrugged and mouthed "I love you" to Daniel who returned the favor before her phone buzzed again.

<Yeah? I'm sorry. It really sucks. I was wrong when I said that because the supernatural world doesn't forget or forgive. No matter how hard we try to escape this world, it always finds a way to pull us back in. I'm sorry Sarah. I didn't want this for you.>

The blonde hunter looked at her phone and sighed at Oya's reply. What else could be said in such a situation? It was better to be prepared than to be collateral damage. Monsters didn't discriminate and she would be damned if she didn't give her family the tools to fight back. Sometimes, she wondered if her desire to have a family didn't doom them to an unhappy life? Could it be that she made a mistake in bringing these children into the world and forcing their innocent father into a nomadic life?  There would obviously come a time when Daniel would not be able to work remotely. There would be a time when they would have to find a way to get some money and feed their children. Could they send the girls to school? questions kept filling her head and she typed her reply to Oya.

<I regret having the twins.  Kinda. I don't know. I feel guilty for bringing them into the world.  O... If you didn't drink that potion and could still have kids.. would you have them?>

<Without a doubt. It would have been challenging, for sure. It would have been fucking hard but...I would have tried my best for that kid, you know? Just like I know you would do the best for your twins. They love you and  I know you'll find a compromise for them. They'll be ready for whatever comes next. I just know it!>

Sarah couldn't help but smile upon reading Oya's answer. She was right! She would find a way to raise her girls right. She would find a way to make this life worth living. Oya's encouraging words managed to make her feel much better about her decision. She met the love of her life and they both decided to bring into this world, two new lives. It was an act of love. Teaching them about the supernatural world was also an act of love, a way for them to ensure their safety and survival. Sarah realized that compared to those blissfully unaware of the dangers lurking in the dark... Compared to them, Sarah and her family could make a difference, they could save lives... And they would just do it! Daniel looked at her and gently put his larger hand over hers. He gave her a soft smile and stroked the back of her hand.

"Hey, babe. It's going to be alright. How about you rest today and I take care of the twins?"

"Oh, Daniel, I do need to sleep for a while. Are you sure you want to keep doing it with me? This life I mean?"

"Always. I'll go wherever you go, Sarah. This is our life now and I'm fine with it as long as I am with you." -She smiled and lowered her head so she could leave a couple kisses on the back of his hand.-

"I love you."

"I love you too."

TB: Photographs

Sara's home was famously lacking personal pictures. Only a handful existed and was plastered all over her fridge and started from the moment she left the orphanage with Dotty. One picture depicted them at the beach, it was a candid shot taken by a tourist photographer and a genuine testimony of the bond between the blonde manager and the singer. Sara was happy in the picture, laughing even and Dotty seemed far less stressed than she was these days. Aside from this cliché, the few she kept with her all immortalized her success and personal victories. There was a picture of her in her recently acquired apartment with the keys in her hands. Another was taken at an award show, showing her receiving her award. All the pictures of her life, the one before her parents' murders, the one with her partners, all of them had disappeared, because Sara just threw them away. It hurt her to look at them and see how unhappy she was in these relationships. It was already bad enough to see them in the news whenever her exes were mentioned, she refused to keep them in her most private place. They had already done enough damage as it was and Sara didn't want to give them more room to hurt her. She still remembered the way Brett trashed some of their pictures together during an angry fit, how he tore them apart or froze them just so he could break them into a million pieces in front of her. He abused those memories like he abused her and the young woman refused to relive it by keeping their pictures up her walls. So she got rid of everything that could remind her of them, anything that could trigger her, which left her walls bare and her fridge with scarce pictures of her life.

However, something compelled her to change her stance regarding pictures. Homelander... John.. He took the initiative to have his picture taken with her, during one of their dates and she loved looking at it so much on her phone that she decided to print it and frame it. It was a simple picture, it was just them enjoying a day out at their favorite place but it meant everything to Sara. He went where she wanted to go, allowed himself to discover something new and something he enjoyed, embraced living the anonymous life...and he even took pictures with her, as she was! with freckles all over her body. He welcomed her. How could she not love the man? Well.... Did she love him? Sara quickly realized that she had feelings for Homelander the day she went to the Tower. She had not heard from him for days, had not seen him for days and that alone made her feel restless. She didn't like the idea that their time together had just been a fluke and that he had moved on. The idea irked the woman, it hurt deep and it made her realize that perhaps, there was more to it than just a great chemistry during sex. She bought him clothes, was thinking about taking him to new places, and helped him discover himself in a different setting than the one he grew up with. She was in love with him since she imagined a future where she could meet his son, where they could spend time together, where...they could simply be.  So, yes, she was in love with him and the photograph was proof of these feelings. So she gleefully framed the picture and placed it in the dining room, on the table where she would take all of her meals with or without him but with them together in that picture.

Oh, Sara was head over heels for John.

She was what we call: "In love."

Doya: Sarah thomas

Sarah Thomas, former hunter, mother of twins, loving wife, and sister of Joshua Thomas.

A couple years ago she was upset because she felt that leaving the Hunting community was betraying her father's legacy. Oya visited her at that time and after she knocked some sense into her, helped Sarah overcome her guilt.

However, Joshua’s attack and now disabled body acted like an electric shock to her. She couldn’t live her life without acknowledging the supernatural. She decided that teach her family how to defend herself.

Besides, she was the first to be notified of Oya and Dean’s wedding.

Doya: Old friends

 "Old friends."

Joshua and Sarah adjusted to his new situation rather easily. He might have been disabled, he still was alive and was still able to help from the confines of his chair. His fiancée Stephanie learned how to defend herself from potential monsters -despite his semi-retirement from the hunting business, monsters didn't retire. his fiancée had to learn how to protect herself and them if needed-. He also managed to recover enough to be able to take care of himself on his own for most of his daily needs. Stephanie insisted to help bath him and the two of them grew closer by taking baths together. Things worked out. Sarah seemed to be doing fine too. She embraced the situation because, for her, it was better to have a disabled brother than a dead one.

It was a close call, one that confirmed a couple truths to the two of them. It was necessary for Sarah to train her husband and teach him how to protect their family. Regardless of how peaceful their lives had been lately, she couldn't possibly keep her family dependent on her skills. The kids were also taught the basics, they were old enough to speak and understand and were responding well to the first safety measures they had to take (mostly how to hide well and not make noise when mommy and daddy were fighting). The second thing Sarah was certain of was Oya's friendship.

Oya was a childhood friend who became family real quick. It didn't take long for the three of them to consider each other like siblings. Especially not since the death of their father. Oya had always been close to them even after the funerals of their father. She'd always make sure they had what they needed and always visited when she could. Sure, her little stunt in America was a mishap -Oya had found the Asanbosam there and was hunting the beast. She met with the Winchesters and it took a year or so before she reached out to Thomas'- It didn't mean that Oya didn't love them, all the opposite actually.

Oya gave up everything to investigate the creature that attacked and mauled Josh. She found it and destroyed it. She didn't have to, she had to deal with another threat, yet she gave it all up to either save Joshua or avenge him. Wasn't it a testament of love? Besides, she did confide in Sarah about her feelings for Dean and the fear she felt about losing him. Oya was very private, but she trusted Sarah and the blonde hunter was thankful for this trust and love. Now that their lives were quiet and good, she wanted to help Oya and their current threat. Joshua informed her about Pluto and the confession of the ebony hunter about her encounter with the god. Sarah decided that it was time she investigated as well to help Team Free Will and Oya. It wasn't because they owed her, it was because she was family. Their Family."

Doya: Late Night Dream

A/N: Well, been thinkingg of these two beans. Of course, I also had to include Sarah and Joshua Thomas :p just because. It is about Doya though, in a way.

xxxxxxxxx

[Oya? Is it too late to write to you?]

Sarah texted her. the noise from her phone forced Oya to wake up from her light slumber. She rolled her eyes, groaned and rolled on her side. Her heavy coily black locks fell on her face and chest but she waved them off of her face with the back of her hand. The hunter rubbed her eyes and grabbed her phone. Sarah? this late? She never did unless it was an emergency or something was wrong with her. Oya furrowed her brows , her heart began to race in her ribcage as worries started to grow, and replied.

[No, it's not. What's up?] -She could feel Dean shifting on his bed but he was still asleep.-

It had been quite a while since they last talked. The last time they saw each other, it was at the hospital where Joshua was on the brink of death. Oya and Dean answered her call and began to investigate the case. Josh recovered despite being bound on a wheelchair How long had it been since Oya spoke to either of them? She knew Joshua was still recovering from the attack at his sister's home. She knew that he was doing alright, all things considered but she had not written at all.

Could she be blamed for her silence? Right after the encounter with the Daeva, Oya met with Pluto. She survived on dumb luck and the near-death experience shocked her enough to make her forget about anyone who wasn't Team Free Will. She realized now, that it had been way too long and she wasn't keeping her promise to the Thomases.  Her azel eyes stared at her screen, wishing for the reply to not be an emergency.

[I wanted to talk, check on you a little bit. ] -Oya put the phone on her chest, her eyes searching through the darkness of the bedroom. She pulled her phone up and typed back as fast as she could-

[Just checking on me? Really? Sarah... Are you alright? Is it a late night conversation like the one at the motel?] -She was worried, and a worried Oya was always talking fast. Sarah paused. for a minute or two before she sent another message.-

[Actually... I am fine. I haven't heard from you in a very long time, so I started to worry. Joshua told me he heard your voice on Radio Hunter, so that's how I knew you were still alive.]

[I am sorry. I should have texted you more often. I just got very busy.] -She was hoping that her excuses would work on Sarah, but the blonde woman was far more clever than that. Oya nipped her bottom lip and started to tap her right index against the phone screen.-

[Busy? Let me guess... Chasing after the pagan god Pluto? It's all over the news, so don't try and lie to me. There's a worlwide search for him and I know you'd try find him before anyone else does.]

Oya's heart almost stopped beating upon reading the first sentence. She sighed of relief once she realized that Sarah had no clues about what happened between the god and her. Oya ended up sitting at the edge of the bed and  put her phone on her lap. What could she tell her? The truth? Well, that seemed to be the most reasonable action to take. Telling the truth, letting her in on the secret that plagued her for months. Oya didn't want to come back to this painful memory, of her nearly dying. She didn't want to feel hopeless like she did back there. It took her way too long for her to mentally recover from the incident and realize that she didn't want to die too soon. Being forced to face her own mortality was an eye-opening experience, one that shed a bright light upon herself. Oya was human after all...

Her lips trembled and she ran her shaky fingers through her hair, massaging her scalp. She glanced at Dean who was sleeping still. He looked so peaceful from where she stood. he seemed at peace with everything. Oya knew, she knew that deep down he was already beating himself for what happened to her. How could she let him  carry the weight of the world on his shoulders on his own? He was carrying it, alone, in order to protect those he loved. Dean was a martyr of his own making and she knew that no matter his promises, this would be something he wouldn't be able to stop doing. He was the type of person to strike a deal with the devil if that meant saving his loved ones. He was the one... He was the ONE. Her lips trembled even more and she could feel tears form at the corner of her eyes.

[I am looking for Pluto and gathering intel on him. I'm not working alone, don't worry. We're a whole team on that case. Sarah...I'm fine. We're in the middle of the night, so what happened?] -Minutes went by, with Oya glancing from time to time to her right. She needed to see Dean, and watching him peacefully breathe during his sleep, somehow brought her some peace too. It was soothing.-

[I had a dream. I just woke up and went to the kitchen to drink some water. It was a nightmare rather than a dream.]

[I knew it! What was that nightmare about? Is Josh okay?]

[He is fine. Actually, I am the one falling apart. He bounced back O. He bounced back and now he's working from the comfort of his home. I thought he would miss working on cases but he's fine building a life with his fiancé and helping hunters through the radio. I dreamed about your death. It happened a few months ago but today I made the same nightmare. A creature had killed you and I attended your funeral. I was scared, you know? scared because if you die...]

Oya could feel a pang in her heart. She had never really thought of the impact her death could have on others. For so long she thought of herself as an important member of society. someone who was saving people but was replaceable. It didn't matter if she or someone else did the job as long as the job was done. Yet, twice, she thought of herself as more than just a hunter. With Fabrice, she had dreamed of having her own family, kids included. She had seen herself as a wife and a mother but her dreams turned to dust very quickly and she was left feeling empty and distraught. Dean changed everything. the family he made with Sam and Castiel also changed everything. Oya felt again.. Oya was human again..Oya was loving again.

Her encounter with Pluto helped her realize that she didn't want to die and wanted instead, to keep living with her family. She wanted more time with Dean, Sam and Castiel.. oh yes, more time with them but especially with Dean. She loved him more than she could even admit. She had the life she had always wanted with him. A life where she could save lives, kick ass and travel around the country. A life that meant something. A life with more than just pain and despair. She refused to let go of things so fast and this realization made her near-death experience all the more painful. She was afraid to die now, she, the Daredevil, didn't want to die so soon.  A sob escaped her lips and she wiped away the tears that had rolled on her cheeks.

[I am alive. I guess you are worried now that you know there is a pagan god on the loose. I promise you, I will do everything in my power to stay alive. I promised I would see the twins grow and I will do my best to keep this promise.]

[You can't make promises you won't keep, O. It's impossible to know when your time is coming. It's impossible to know. Dad didn't. Mom didn't and I certainly can't.  Monsters are scary and while I teach my family to acknowledge the existence of the supernatural and to prepare....I don't know what tomorrow is made of. I feel safe when you're here, O. Without you, I would definitely lose my mind.]

[I won't die, Sarah. I don't want to die, you know? The world is big yet it is getting smaller and smaller.  I am still with you. Still there for you. Remember, Josh needed help, you needed my help and I came, didn't I? Your dream...your dream was about me giving up on my old aloof persona. Your dream is about me finding my happiness and wanting to fight for it. I am busy saving the world but I will make sure to stay alive, okay?]

Tears fell on her screen, forcing Oya to wipe away her tears and pull her legs up. as her feet rested on the mattress, she wrapped her arms around her knees. Sarah was worried beacuse things were changing around her. Her brother was now disabled yet he probably was the happiest he's ever been since he settled down and found a new and less risky way to help hunters. Oya was still living her best life, even moreso now that she was at peace with herself and comfortable in her relationships. She found her place, her family and somehow was living the life she had always wanted.

Sarah struggled a lot ever since her father died. She was questionning her decision to live a mundane life and have a family she kept away from the supernatural. She was questionning her ability to keep her family safe. she was questionning her relationships -including the one with Oya-. Her father's death and the recent traumatic attack against her brother fragilized her more than she wanted to admit. Things changed and she didn't adjust to them. She didn't adjust to her brother becoming disabled nor did she adjust to Oya living her life away from her.

[Okay.] -Silence, then a couple minutes later- [O? Do you think I did the right thing by having a family of my own?]

[You did the right thing for yourself. Your kids are wonderful and your husband loves you. You will be able to protect them alright. Your dad knew it. Josh knows it. I know it. You just have to believe it.]

Silence settled in for a while, allowing Oya to glance once more towards Dean who was now shifting on the bed a little more, indicating that he was about to wake up in a matte rof minutes. Oya sighed, even having a good sleep felt like luxury. Dean had a decent sleep in the last couple of weeks but it still felt too far in between periods of agitated and restless nights. Her phone vibrated again, indicating that she received another text.

[Thanks for the pep talk, O. Text me more so I don't fear you're dead or something. love you.]

[Love you too.] -She texted back before she put her phone on the bed nightstand. She gave a sheepish smile before she rolled on her side. Dean was even more agitated, which indicated that he was about to wake up, so she  gently laid next to him and cupped his cheek with her warm hand. A gentle stroke accompanied his awakening and he greeted her with a grin. She smiled at him and planted a kiss on his nose.  "Good morning Dickhead."

"Good morning, Bitch." -he smiled and pressed a kiss to her lips, gently wrapping his powerful arm around her waist. "You're up very early, what woke you up?"

"Just a little Late Night Dream....involving you." She smiled again and gently rubbed her nose to his. "I'd like to stay a little longer in bed. Shall we?"

"We shall.."

DOYA : Sarah Thomas strikes again.

DOYA : Sarah Thomas strikes again.

A/N : I wanted a sweet moment between these two, talking about their lives while Oya is recovering from an injury. It's also a nice nod to « married to the job » I did three years ago.

Xxxxxx

Previously on Supernatural: Sarah Thomas first saw Oya about three years ago. Oya visited them on Herny Thomas -her mentor- anniversary and they had a heartfelt conversation about the hunter's life. The last met about a year ago, when Sarah felt guilty about quitting that life and building a family with the love of her life. She tracked Oya down and met her at a motel and the two of them had a long conversation that helped Sarah realize that she didn't want to lead a Hunter's life but was satisfied with her family life. Since then, the kept in touch with texts and phone calls. Just yesterday evening, while Sarah was making dinner, Oya rang her bell. She opened the door and saw a blood-covered Oya who gave her a sheepish smile before she collapsed onto her. Sarah helped her clean up, cleaned her wounds, and gave her a pair of blue pajamas.

Now :

«Hey... » -Sarah's voice pierced through the silence that had settled in the bedroom.-

She had just crossed the front door, carrying two mugs of coffee while wearing a pair of jeans and a plain black t-shirt. Oya was standing in front of the window, wearing oversized blue flannel pajamas. She had her right hand over her belly, that was recently stitched by the blonde. Her hazel eyes were looking past the window, to Sarah's husband playing with their twin daughters in the garden. Sarah saw Oya flinch and then relax before she turned around and grinned at her friend.

« Hey... » -Sarah stepped closer again, this time standing near Oya and watching her family past the window as well. « How's the pain? »

« Manageable. » She snarled and took a sip of her coffee. «...Sarah..... I meant to stop by but.. you know how it is, right? »

Her tone lacked the confidence Oya always had when she talked to others. She was most of the time very assertive and seemed to be knowing what she wanted and how she wanted it. It was one of the qualities Sarah envied her, but the blonde knew Oya enough to see that in front of loved ones and when pressed, this façade tended to disappear. Oya was unsure of how Sarah would react to seeing her now, a year since they last met. Sarah lifted a brow, took an ominous look on her face before she heartily laughed.

« Oh my god, Oya! cut the dramatics! It's okay. I know that life, remember? »

« You're not... mad? Last time we met you... kinda were. » She pointed out, taking another sip of her beverage. Sarah chuckled and gently ran her hand over the petite hunter's black locks.

« I was silly back then. I was hurting because I was missing my dad. I wanted to feel close to him again and I foolishly thought that becoming a hunter was the right way to go. »

« You weren't silly. You were hurting. » -The ebony hunter's voice was reassuring.-

« I stalked you for days until I gathered enough strength to talk to you. »

« Eeeewwwww... you're right, you were silly! » Oya chuckled again and leaned her head against Sarah's shoulder. Outside, the twins were having a blast with their father, running around, trying to catch him with their tiny hands and arms. « Henry would have been proud of you. You're happy, your family is too. »

Sarah wrapped her arms around her friend's shoulder and pulled her into a tight but nice hug. The ebony hunter remembered how distraught Sarah was when she found her. She had barely slept and she had been crying. She thought that maybe, by not being a hunter like her father wanted her to be, she didn't make him proud. She started to believe that he would have wanted her to be more like Oya and never forgave her choice, but those emotions had been triggered by her home invasion. Had Joshua not be severely injured and brought home by his friend, Sarah wouldn't have questioned her choices.

« We are happy. » Her voice softened and she walked towards the bed. « Now, have a sit, O. » -She had this excited tone about her that let Oya know Sarah wanted to gossip a little. It made Oya chuckle and she left the window to walk towards the bed and sit down. « You know you don't have to leave tomorrow right? How about you stay for a few more days? »

« Yeah...I'll stay for a couple days before I hit the road again. »

« I know, I know, you're eager to find Dean again. » Sarah teased her, which made Oya blush and shrug. «I've just been dying to know something. »

«I'm almost afraid to ask 'what'. » Oya admitted.

She knew Sarah was straight forward. She had a knack at making people spill their guts and Oya really didn't want to spill hers. The ebony hunter wasn't very good at expressing her emotions and she knew Sarah would want to make her do just that. Maybe with a wise joke, she could derail the conversation.... mmmhhh no, she couldn't. Sarah knew her way too much to fall for that.

« Don't worry, I won't bite. I'm just going to ask you one simple question. » -The excitement in the eyes

« pfft... Go on? » Oya put her legs on the bed and crossed them. « I guess it has something to do with Dean since you mentioned him. »

« Yeah. Yeah, it does. I'm not going to ask you if you're happy because I know you are. It's nothing new under the sun. » -Oya put her glass of coffee on the night desk. And Sarah crossed her legs as well, now facing the young woman.

« Oh, snap! Don't say it, Sarah! Don't! » Oya grabbed a pillow and pushed her face against it.

« Don't say what? Don't say that you are in LUUUUUV with him? » She said with a soft chuckle. « I don't need to say it, it's written all over your face. » -She emptied her glass of coffee and put it on the night desk as well.

« Ugh... come on. I'm not a teenager anymore.  What's your question? » Sarah grinned widely and took a deep breath.

« Who is Dean Winchester. Who is he, really? I hear about him, hunters always chat about him and he did pretty awesome stuff. But, who is Dean Winchester you know? » -As a matter of fact, she knew her friend enough to be able to tell just by looking at her if she did have genuine feelings for someone. She didn't want to confirm what she already knew, she wanted to hear Oya talk about Dean in ways she never did.-

« Who Dean is ?... That's what you want to know? » Sarah nodded and Oya's features softened as she thought of Dean. She blushed and gently bit at her bottom lip. His face flashed in her mind, and she saw him smile at her. « Dean Winchester is... a strong good man. People always think he's this goddamn hero who doesn't feel anything and just runs towards danger. He's not superhuman. He's human. He's.. so beautiful. » She felt her eyes slowly getting filled with unshed tears. « He lost so much, Sarah, people see his greatest adventures as something exciting and fun while it will forever be laced with loss and pain. Dean is scarred, just like me, but he still keeps on saving lives. He still keeps on moving forward and helping people. He keeps on giving. I see him, and the only thing I want to do is move forward with him, give him support, affection.. give him everything because he is my everything. He's... »

As she realized her words, she chuckled and squeezed the pillow tighter. Sarah's eyes grew wider as Oya spoke. She felt the slight sob that died down at the back of her throat. She saw how warm and caring Oya's gaze was.

« Dean is... a man worth fighting for. He's my home. You know? He's the place I always return to. He is.. he's my everything and, trust me, in that shitty life we have to live, he's the best thing to ever happen to me. I told him that, that he was the best thing in my whole fucking life.. oh.. no offense Sarah, okay? »

« None taken... » Sarah's voice was just a breath. « None took, Oya this is beautiful. » She said as she wiped a tear away. « it's so beautiful. Holy Shit! I didn't expect you to go off like that. I am.. I am just...okay, you know what? Why don't you go downstairs and play a little with the kids? » -Her bright eyes were staring at the hunter who was sitting in front of her. « BUT before you go, tell me again how you two met? »

Oya rolled her eyes but ended up smiling. That, she could tell.

Doya : The Thomas' case.

Doya : The Thomas' case.

A/N : So, eventually, this would be their new case <3

xxx

Oya was holding the phone but she wasn't listening to any word Sarah was saying. From the moment she heard that Joshua was at the hospital and in critical condition, she didn't hear anything else. It was one of her worst fears coming to life, to have a loved one at the brink of death because of monsters. Joshua was an experienced hunter and yet, he was probably drying because of a case he didn't prepare well. Sarah was hysterical on the phone, crying and cursing monsters for claiming her brother's life. Josh wasn't dead yet, why was she talking as if he was dead? Oya's gaze was aimlessly staring at the white wall in front of her when Dean found her. He heard the cries of Sarah over the phone and took it off of Oya's hands.

«Hello? »

«Hello? Where's Oya? »

« Unavailable. Who's speaking? » He asked, while his hand got lost into Oya's thick black curls.

« Sarah... Sarah Thomas. Is it Dean Winchester? » She calmed down and wiped some tears off of her face. Her twin girls were playing together while her husband was talking to the doctors. Dean picked up noises that were familiar in hospitals and furrowed his brows.

«Yeah.. Sarah Thomas, you're Oya's childhood friend. » He stated and felt her nod over the phone. « Okay, what's going on? »

« My brother.... my brother's last hunt nearly killed him. He's going through surgery as we speak and I need Oya to be...I needed Oya's help. »

A case? Was she offering Oya to come to investigate the case Joshua was investigating? It wouldn't surprise the seasoned hunter but he refused to let Oya go on her own. It was way too personal, hit way too close to home to have her be focused and efficient. Joshua was hurt, so badly that he might actually die and it would be the only thought she would have in mind.

« What happened? »

« I don't know. I haven't seen him yet, I don't know if he'll survive the surgery. Can you please hurry? »

« Where are you? »

« It's far from home, South Carolina. I assumed it was an easy-peasy vampire case, but he might have encountered something worse than a vampire. »

« Something worse? » Vampires were sons of bitches and Dean liked to play it like Buffy the vampire slayer. However, Joshua proved to be excellent at hunting vampire and had never been in such bad shape before. Maybe these weren't vampires and the only way for him to be sure was to investigate the case. Oya had wrapped her arms around his waist and started to sob against him, quietly so.

« Something worse yeah... he was mangled to the point, they identified him thanks to the ID card he had in his jeans pocket. Please, come over, find who did it and kill them. » She said before she hung up the phone.

Dean's focus shifted from the phone to Oya who was still sobbing against him. His hand was still rubbing the back of her neck while the other put the phone on the table and rubbed her back. He knew she would want to go and investigate the case. She would want to go to the hospital, see Joshua and avenge his death, should he die before they got there. Her body was shaking, so he crouched on the floor to be at her level and cupped both of her cheeks. She nodded and put her hands on his wrists. Dean didn't know what to tell her « Josh will make it. » that was a lie. « We'll avenge him. » It was an obvious decision to make. « We'll find out what happened. » but would they? « I'm with you. » that was something he could actually say to the ebony hunter. That was something he could do. He was there, and she could see it. So her lips twitched and she sobbed harder, unable to contain her tears. It broke his heart to see Oya like that, scared of losing someone she loved like a brother, just like he was whenever he was trying to rescue Sam. He had already lost his brother, to Lucifer and other monsters. He had to endure the sight of his brother's corpse, to hold it in his arms, to cry for him because he wanted him back. He had already been through this shit so he knew what Oya was going through. She grew up with the Thomas, at least for a couple of years and remained close to them through Joshua and Sarah's father. She rekindled her relationship with them when she returned to America and ever since she settled with the Winchesters, they had been in touch regularly. They were the closest to a family she ever had, so of course, she wouldn't want to lose any of them.

« We're going. » Dean simply said, allowing the woman to know that with those simple words, he had accepted the silent request Oya gave him. With these words, he showed he cared for her. Of course, they would go, he wouldn't have wanted it any other way. Oya nodded, tears still rolling down her cheeks and she offered a tight smile before he wiped out her tears and planted a kiss on her lips. She kissed him back and wrapped her arms around his shoulders as he pulled her into a hug. « We're going, Oya. » He reassured her, his large hands stroking her cheeks before he pulled her against her into a tight hug. She simply nodded but she knew he would be there with her and that was all that mattered at this moment. He was there with her.
