Chronicles of the Primeval Gods : Life and Death of Ayasha : The Stubborn

Chronicles of the Primeval Gods: Life and Death of Ayasha: The Stubborn

A/N : Ayasha absolutely freaks out over Ishtar's new behavior and the loss of control she had over him.

Xxxxxxx

The Goddess of Knowledge was sitting by the Fountain of Truth. Her hair neatly tied on an elaborate bun and her green orbs watching the water. It had the power to find anyone, anywhere with high accuracy and yet, she still couldn't find her sister. He knew the Sin had used old powerful and forgotten magic to shield her presence to the Fountain. Therefore, she couldn't find her. Not being able to see Elpis and see how she was doing actually terrified the golden goddess. She tried to access the knowledge she had on Elpis and what she found didn't soothe her soul. Elpis was known as being gullible and naive -something that couldn't be anymore since they betrayed her and, she remembered-. Elpis was known to influence humans and gods alike with Hope and Despair. Ishtar knew her better than anyone else since the two of them went on battlefields together. He saw how her mere presence induced hope in the hearts of soldiers who stood back up and fought until Death swept them from this plane of existence. Ishtar felt that the same energy flows through his veins as if Elpis encouraged him to do his best. How could he not take into consideration that whatever plan she had in mind, it involved her using her ability against them? They would not be able to resist her influence and if it wasn't Hope she was going to induce in their hearts, it would be Despair and Despair proved to be the downfall of empires... the destroyer of strong wills, the annihilation of life.

Ayasha remembered when Elpis threw a destructive temper tantrum. She went on her own to the Sumerian Pantheon and destroyed them all by herself. The golden goddess remembered seeing her little sister covered with blood, holding in her hands the heart of her enemy and relishing in the havoc she wreaked. Elpis was destructive, she was stupidly powerful and they only had a glimpse of that untapped power. Goosebumps covered her arms as she imagined just how pissed off and revengeful her pink-haired sister was. What they did to her went beyond any redemption, they betrayed her and tried to kill her. She was cursed for 2000 years, forced to reincarnate into human beings, forgotten by all, including her lover. How could she not want retribution for this crime? Shivers went down the spine of the goddess who growled at the feeling of fear creeping into her heart. Why was she scared of someone she knew so well? Why couldn't she think of ways to eliminate Elpis once and for all? When it came to her little sister, her emotions were taking the best of her. Or was she distracted because Ishtar's behavior was different? Ayasha couldn't tell, but she could feel she was restless.

Ishtar acted as if he knew she was trying to manipulate him. She was well aware of what Leviathan told him but didn't think that those words would resonate still. Leviathan was an opportunist. He wanted power and he hated the fact he never had any control over Ayasha. From the very beginning he was suspicious of his sister and her ever-growing desire to be on top of everyone else. Maybe they understood each other so well because they were the same, maybe he was just able to see through her schemes but very soon, he knew she was ambitious and wanted power just as he wanted it. He noticed her skills at manipulating those around her and make sure they never realized the extent of her ambition.

Ayasha proved that knowledge was power, and nobody needed to have a tremendous strength like Ishtar or Leviathan had, or control over elements to actually be dangerous. She knew of their strength and weaknesses. She knew their habits and dreams and desires. She knew everything and because she did, she was able to manipulate Fate in her favor. Leviathan despised that ability but acknowledged how dangerous his sister actually was. Despite their arguments, both Ishtar and Leviathan respected each other and while both knew the primeval god of the oceans wanted to destabilize the harmony between his siblings, Ishtar knew he wasn't lying. Leviathan didn't lie. Ayasha was manipulating him.

She knew that her surviving brother was taking his distance from her. He needed time to reflect on what Leviathan told him and see for himself if it was the truth or not. Ayasha knew he would not let her get close to him again, until his suspicion left him, so she had to convince him otherwise, but could she? Could she take some control back when her sister was at their doors? Ishtar didn't want to listen, he underestimated Elpis once again and the sin she called a companion. He believed that because he gained extra power from being the new All-Father he could get rid of these two, but he was mistaken. All-father or not, Sins were given the power to destroy gods and Pride would absolutely be able to destroy Ishtar if the latter didn't pay attention.

« You are a fool, brother, if you think you can defeat our enemies without a little bit of preparation. » She furrowed her brows and clenched her fists. « I would not be defeated by our sister and I won't let it happen. She will come to our doors. She knows her way inside. I will change our realm, make sure that the usual shortcuts are destroyed and that the only way to the realm is by the front door. » She stroked her chin. « This way, Elpis would have no choice but to announce herself and make herself vulnerable. »

She then used the fountain of truth to look at the known weaknesses of her own sister. Primeval gods were supposed to be invincible, but each and every one of them had a weakness. Ishtar, as the God of War was vulnerable to empathy and compassion. Once he felt those emotions, it became very difficult for him to be driven by blood lust. His own compassion for his sister led him to curse her instead of killing her. Elis weakness would be a doubt ; She had to doubt her own worth, her own love, and that of the Sin « had » for her. Doubt would, for sure, neutralize her sister but how could Ayasha make it happen? As her mind was wandering off, the goddess was interrupted by a minor god of Wind who knelt before her.

« Speak now and speak well. I hope you didn't interrupt me with triviality. »

« No, my queen. I came here to report on our sister. »

« Elpis ? What did you find about her ? »

« We found her former host, still alive and thriving in this new world. We thought that eventually, you could use this information against Elpis. »

« Asma is alive ? » -She didn't care about humans and therefore didn't notice Pride didn't kill Asma Jensen. This information lit her face and Ayasha's grin grew larger in size and more terrifying by the minute.

Asma was alive!

Chronicles of Lux and Tenebrae: The End

Chronicles of Lux and Tenebrae: Time

« I can't see anything ! » - Lux's voice echoed through the thick smoke-

The Keeper of Secrets said they couldn't kill an eternal. The only way to get rid of one was to send them to the Vanishing Point and it required the presence of both the Alpha and the Omega to perform such a miracle. How could they win against Time? It didn't take long for Death to confirm that Time was indeed his creator and orchestrated the attack against Life in an attempt to destroy her. The Four Horsemen were supposed to lay waste on Earth and destroy everything beyond repair and they would have if Death had not fallen in love with her. His motives were obscure and boiled down to wanting to eliminate Life because she was revered and worshipped more than he ever was. He was the first eternal and should have remained as such. When Life came to be, quickly followed by other gods, he realized that he couldn't do otherwise but accept their existence and enforce his leadership. They respected him, as their elder and genuinely followed his advice and commands. However, it soon proved not to be enough for the eternal. Life quickly became essential in all of the universes. She was the most revered eternal, so much so that Time followed. He was nothing more but a way to measure one's existence. He was nothing more but added value to Life.

« I'm here, Lux. » -Tenebrae's hand held onto her shoulder but he was also blinded by the smoke. He couldn't see clearly what was going on but he was hoping for a quick resolution. « I'm here. »
«Good! »-She narrowed her gaze in a desperate attempt at spotting something in between the heavy smoke but could not distinguish anything, not even a vague form.- « What had just happened? »

They couldn't understand, not even after it was proven that Time was behind the attacks. Death didn't want to rationalize the actions of what essentially was a rogue god. Time resented Life, he realized that there was a need for a quick end of both the wildlife and humanity, Life's greatest creation. He didn't want her to boast about her powers or the creative ways in which she used them so he created the Four Horsemen. They would have the power to destroy her creations and everything that would come from her -but wouldn't be able to kill her, for none could kill an eternal-. It was a well-crafted plan, he thought he had control over the Horsemen and he did....up until Life met Death. Time witnessed aghast, as Death fell in love with Life and realized that he could be more than just a puppet at the hands of Time. With him gone awol, it became difficult for Time to successfully destroy Earth. The other 3 Horsemen were betrayed by their brother and sent to the Vanishing Point, thus forcing the eternal to change his plans.

Since he couldn't defeat Life, then he would take everything from her, starting with her one and true love, Death. As cruel as it might have been, it served Time well to craft a « prophecy » that would prevent his enemies to fraternize. He didn't expect them to have a progeny but when Lux and Tenebrae were born, extending the prophecy to them came naturally. If they couldn't get close, then Time had nothing to fear. Princess Despair offered Time the opportunity to set the Horsemen free and with them, destroy Life's realm and kill everyone the queen cared about. He didn't count on the strength and bravery of princess Lux and the fact Life was able to banish the horsemen from her realm, using almost all of her strength. He didn't think she would have enough to bring her daughter back to life and was forced to change his plan when she did.

« Let's get closer! » -Lux assessed. She summoned a large shield to protect her as she started to walk forward. Just in front of them should be Time, Death and Life fighting.-

« I'm right behind you. The wind and the light blind me, Lux! » -Tenebrae said, holding her shoulder tighter as they started to walk towards the battlefield.-

« Hold on tight! We're soon...There ?? »

The smoke cleared as they walked closer to the source and what they found horrified the two heirs. Life, Time and Death turned into a marble sculpture. The elder god was solidified with his arm left up towards the sun. Death and Life had one of their hands on his shoulders and entwined the fingers of their free hands. They were looking at each other and were smiling. The princess shield vanished and she fell on her knees while Tenebrae widely opened her eyes. He walked towards the sculpture. Were they alive? The prince put his hand on Life's shoulder and felt the warmth. He glanced past his shoulders, his black eyes noticing the distressed goddess who was screaming and crying at the horror before her. He knitted his brows, confused and maybe angry at his own father as he walked around the sculpture and stood in front of his father. Death looked larger than life, huge as he always seemed to be in the young man's life. The son's eyes were filled with unshed tears and he laid a flat hand on his shoulder.

« Father, is that what you meant when you said I had to prepare myself to be the King? » There was no response from the sculpture, of course, how could he answer when he was turned into a living statue? « I will find the best-suited place on Earth to put you three at. A place untouched by mankind, where nature thrived. I will find you a place that is in the shadow and yet still full of life and Light so you two could protect us from Time. » His fingers clenched into a fist. « I wished I had more time, Father, more time to tell you that I am sorry for the troubles I caused. I failed to see your love for me. I failed to see your sacrifice and understand you. I failed to show you more love when I could have...But I love you, Father.»

Lux was still wailing, unable to stop herself from crying at the sight of her petrified mother. She wanted to do something, anything to make sure that this wasn't real but she knew it was the best way to stop Time. An eternal couldn't be killed, but it could be imprisoned forever. Their parents chose their destiny and an eternal life spent together, holding off the most powerful evil they could, while simultaneously still existing was a tricky but necessary choice. Life, Death and Time would still exist, ensuring the protection of Mankind and preservation of Earth. It was rational, but it was impossible for the young princess to accept it. Not after she had lost two of her brothers, not after she had just reunited with her mother. They couldn't be gone forever...They couldn't...She felt Tenebrae's hands hold onto her shoulders and squeezed them harder. Her wet eyes focused on his face and she bit her bottom lip.

« They're gone... They're gone Tenebrae... » -Her voice cracked due to the screams she let out-

« They are still here, Lux. They're not dead, just petrified. » He spoke in a soft voice, in an attempt to calm the princess who couldn't help but cry at the sight of her mother. « They told us we were their legacy and we will be. Rise, Lux! Rise as the new Queen of the Realm of all Beginnings. »

She nodded and slowly rose on her feet. It all culminated to this moment when Life and Death sacrificed themselves so their children could live the life they wanted to live. Lux held onto Tenebrae's hand and looked up at his face, searching for reassurance. Everything went too fast for the princess, but she knew she could handle it as long as Tenebrae would be by her side. He squeezed her hand and snapped his fingers, teleporting both the statue and them to a virgin remote island where they knew no human would go because it was made of mountains. Before he snapped his fingers again, Lux put her hand on his chest.

« Wait... »

« Lux ?... » He felt her hand go up and cup his alabaster cheek. Her silver eyes glowed brightly as she was still overwhelmed. He leaned into her touch, the blood that was drying on his chin and cheek soaked her hand but she didn't care.

« I do not know what tomorrow as in store for us...Now that we are king and Queen of our respective realms. »

« We can choose now. » -He smiled at her and gently stroked her cheek with the back of his hand.- « We can be whoever we want to be. » -He kissed her forehead.- « Question is, Do you want me to be with you? »

« Yes...Yes, I want to. » -She hastily said, her thumb stroking his cheek.-« I have always wanted to be with you Tenebrae, from the moment I saw you today, my only wish was to be with you. »-She gave him a faint smile.-« I love you. »

« I love you too. » He said covering her hand with his. « Then we can be whoever we want to be. » -She nodded.- « Lt us go, Lux... We have to. » She nodded and held his hand again. He planted another kiss on top of her forehead and snapped his fingers to teleport them. It seemed like an end, but it was just the beginning.

Chronicles of the Primeval Gods: Life and Death of Ishtar: King of Ashes

A/ N: Ishtar is hurting, somehow, he still can't shake the memory of his sister and the heinous nature of his crime against her.

Xxxxxx

Leviathan words were still doing a number on Ishtar's mind. Maybe things would not have been this dreadful if he had killed Elpis instead of cursing her. It would have solved many issues, made his life easier. He would have ruled the primeval gods' pantheon with an iron but just hand. They wouldn't rebel against him because he cursed the last born. They wouldn't rebel against him because of the torture he inflicted on those who refused to serve him because he wouldn't have to do it if he went through with the plan. Elpis would die without knowing who did it and why they did it. He would have stabbed her from behind, held her in his arms as she would die in a matter of minutes. He would have cradled her body to bring her comfort as she vanished into the void. It should have happened this way. Her existence would have been completely erased from the world and the god's memories and he wouldn't be tormented the way he was by the memory of her. He would be free.

Ishtar was the king, but given the circumstances, he was the king of ashes. Cursing Elpis started a civil war with his siblings and despite not remembering the reasons for their fight against their new All-Father, it kept going. Their rage against Ishtar was stronger than the curse, strong enough to bring unrest to the Pantheon. Ayasha found a way to break them into submission and as Ishtar progressed, he nearly would have wiped out the rebellion if only Elpis had not scratched the seal. But she did. She did and along with it, the memories of the whole World and the gods were restored. They remembered everything and with just a scratch, the civil war took another turn for the worst. It already cost him two siblings he cared deeply for The goddess of Love, Sitäa and the Messenger of gods, Khrön. They deserted their ranks, went against marching orders to reach out to Elpis and ended up dead when Ayasha found them. He wouldn't question his sister's goals and motives but the death of these siblings hurt him more than he wanted to say.

Ironically, War made him stronger. It was the mold that shaped him, the very essence of the god. The cost was greater than he could have imagined and it was starting to take its toll on him. Ayasha denied Leviathan's accusation of manipulating Ishtar, faced his criticism without flinching and explained that she stood by him because she was in love with him. It should have made him happy and it probably did but everything was ruined when Ishtar claimed her. As he did, his true desire started to manifest itself, juxtaposing Elpis on Ayasha's body. It was a truth he couldn't hide or bury. Ishtar loved Elpis and had loved her for quite a long time already so, of course, she was in his mind when the whole time he was with Ayasha. Understandably so, Ayasha was upset and as she walked away from him, Ishtar apologized and promised he wouldn't leave her side.

He was a man of his word and he wouldn't leave Ayasha alone, not when she devoted her whole existence to him, not when she needed his protection and love, not when she only had him. He wouldn't abandon her, but his heart did belong to someone else. Someone he cursed. Someone who would escape from her prison and would want to avenge herself. He created her fury and from this point only added to it. Elpis had the power to level pantheons and he knew that it probably was a matter of time before she came here and destroyed everything. Maybe he would be able to defeat her, maybe she would crush him and everyone else and it would be a sweet irony. He tried to kill the one he loved, but it was Love that killed him. Love she had for someone else, Love which fueled her desire for revenge.

Chronicles of Lux and Tenebrae : The Keeper of Secrets

A/ N: Part 1: Hesitation. Yep, the first argument those lovebirds are going to have. She has a point but so does he. What is going to happen next? Would Tenebrae keep up with his plan or would he change his mind?

xxx xxx xxx

The Keeper of Secrets once existed in the Astral Plane, but they decided against settling there once they realized that entities could reach to them way too. It didn't take too long for them to decide that the best place to hide would be on Earth. The rules were strict there, and more often than not, deities had to follow them. Besides, it was easier for the Keeper to hide. They would change location every year, making it an actual challenge for whoever would try and find them. Days after the Realm of all Beginnings was attacked, Tenebrae started to search the Keeper of Secrets new location. He was able to find them, hiding in a flat in Douala, Cameroon and turned his stallion into a car, once they teleported to the city. Lux still couldn't remember him or even herself, but they spent enough time together for her to trust him enough to follow him in his quest for answers.

In order to pass as humans, they changed their clothes. Tenebrae wore a pair of denim jeans with a red t-shirt and white tennis shoes. He gave his leather jacket to Lux, who was wearing a knee-length fluid black sleeveless dress with black doc martens and white socks. Her black hair was tied in a high ponytail and she was wearing sunglasses to hide her silver eyes. The weather was deliciously warm, with the occasional fresh wind that blew into their faces and the place looked familiar. Lux remembered she had been there in the past, a long time ago when the country was different, still one of the many stops of the slave trade. How pleasant that was to see them free and thriving. Under any other circumstance, she would have wandered on her own and bask in the glory of this beautiful country. They didn't have the luxury of time, so she silently observed. Citizens weren't alarmed more than usual because they were used to seeing people like Tenebrae -Black Albinos were fairly common in Cameroon, so Tenebrae's pale skin and white hair weren't out of place;- or Lux -with her glasses she could pass as an African woman.-.

« Are you sure it's here? » Lux finally said. It was the first time since they left the Fortress that she uttered some words, which caught Tenebrae's attention. He glanced at her, his jet black eyes staring at her and answered.

« I trust my minions. » A smile crept on his lips as she lifted an eyebrow. « Come on now, why are you looking at me like that? »

« You can't really trust your minions. How many of them are working with your father? How many of them are susceptible to betray you? You don't know that. »

« I thought you were the first to trust people, what happened to that side of you, » He teased her, gently tucking some rebellious locks behind her ear. Lux tilted her head to the side and grinned.

« I trust people, just not blindly like you seem to do. » She chuckled to herself and crossed her arms over her chest. « Are we sure the Keeper of Secrets lives here? »

« Seems like it, Lux. We'll know very soon if the intel I got was trustworthy. »

He outstretched his hand towards the front door in order to sense an otherworldly energy. All entities had that energy that stood out in a crowd of humans. It wasn't difficult for a supernatural being to notice when another one was nearby when they were on Earth, and while the Keeper was extremely good at hiding themselves, for the one who knew where to look, their signature energy would make them stand out pretty easily. Tenebrae felt it at the tip of his fingers and turned to Lux, excited by the good news. They found the keeper. He nodded at her and allowed the tip of his fingers to let some of his dark energy go, informing the keeper of his presence. Lux watched him do and nervously fidgeted with her fingers. There, behind what seemed an abandoned hospital, was hidden the Keeper's true castle. It was invisible to the eye of the mortal due to powerful magic, but to supernatural beings like Lux and Tenebrae, it wasn't. It's true nature slowly appeared to them, unveiling the rich infrastructure. Walls were made of carved wood, telling the stories of gods and mankind exception made for the most recent events. Her attack was too recent for the Keeper to add it to the walls and they didn't even have enough time to explore the castle.

«Hold my hand, Lux. » Tenebrae suggested. « I heard we could get lost if we didn't pay attention and I wouldn't want to lose you again. »

« Are you sure those aren't just legends? » She whispered, holding his hand. « Do you have an idea of the question you want to ask? »

He paused for a minute. Truth to be told, the prince didn't think this through. He knew that they only had one question to ask but didn't know the specific rule around it. Since there were two of them, did that mean that each of them had a question or did that mean that the two of them only had one? Of course, he needed to know how to defeat his father but he still wanted to know who attacked Lux and Life. She looked at him, flustered because frustration was slowly getting to her head. She remembered nothing, couldn't even go back to her realm because her life might be in danger and she relied on her supposed « lover », she couldn't even remember. It didn't sit well with the goddess who knew that it only was a matter of time before anger took over and she did something she would regret later. She was hopeful that maybe, the keeper of secrets, could have had an answer to give or at least help her remember but they were unpredictable and as legends say, irritable.

« I think...I know. I do have a question I have been trying to ask for millennia. I have been looking for the Keeper of Secrets for that long and now that I have finally found them...I have to ask. »

« What if we can only ask one question. Are you willing to risk my memory of you? If you ask what you want to ask, then maybe I could never remember you; Are you willing to sacrifice it? For revenge on your father? »

« I am...It's more complicated than revenge. I do not want to avenge myself because my father isn't the one who attacked you. I am... » He stopped walking and cupped both of her cheeks, feeling that she was less and less enthused at the idea of meeting the deity.

« You said I will remember with time, I still don't. I kept sleeping over and over without any hint at a progress. I can't remember you. I can't remember who attacked me and how my mother even looked like. Everything is a blur. Everything is a blur. » She hit on his shoulder but he stroked her cheeks in order to calm her down. « Tenebrae, I'm serious. » She said, trying to escape from his embrace but he held onto her cheeks harder.

« So am I ! Lux, trust me on that one. I will have the answer we need. Whoever hurt you can't be as powerful as my own father and if I know how to defeat him, then I'll know how to defeat your enemy. » -She looked up to his face, her lips trembling with anger before she took a deep breath and replied.

« Whatever... »

She bit her bottom lip and closed her eyes for a second. He knew by her body language that she didn't mean her words. Her body was still stiff and she was still holding back her anger given how fast and harder her lips were trembling. He was right when she opened her eyes again and saw them flash brightly. «No! » She groaned and pushed him away with both her hands. Her body had recovered enough for her to be able to use her strength against him. It projected Tenebrae's body against the wall as she walked closer to him. « No ! We won't do as you please. We are this close to having the answer we need, who attacked me could also very well attack you. I don't want you to waste the only opportunity we have a question you could figure out yourself! » She outstretched her hand towards him, her eyes flashing so brightly that he wondered if she would try and blast him, but she didn't. Instead, she took a few steps back and shook her head.

«Lux? »

« I didn't want to attack you. I'm sorry. »

« Are you... okay? » He asked, standing back up. She looked at him and shook her head. « How can I help y-- » He tried to move closer but she stepped further away from him.

« Don't... not now. Just.. let's keep moving. » She said, walking forward to what seemed to be the main room.. as soon as they entered, the room turned black, forcing Tenebrae and Lux to stand still. A single voice echoed through the room.

« Who are you? »

« I am Lux, daughter of Life. » Lux started.

« I am Tenebrae, son of Death. Who are you? » Tenebrae replied, his tone shifting from unsure to commanding.

« I am the Keeper of Secrets. »

chronicles of Lux and Tenebrae: Poor Unfortunate Soul

A/N: Enter Despair, one of the key elements of the storyline.

xxx xxx

There was a saying about Love. It's supposed to be blind. It's supposed to have you make mistakes and act in a way you wouldn't have if you weren't lovesick. Despair was blinded by her love for Tenebrae. She was one of the most powerful beings existing in the End Realm. One of those older souls who got to enter the court of Death. She fell in love with Tenebrae, when she first met him. He already was a man by the time they met and she was instantly drawn towards him. Maybe it had something to do with his power or the fact he was a beautiful man.

She hoped that he would look at her and find her suitable to become his princess. She demonstrated her power in failed attempts to impress him. She would try and spend some time alone with the prince in order to woo him. Despair was a pleasant company. She has had the knowledge, was very funny and would, of course, have been the best choice if his attention was focused on the End Realm but he had to meet Lux. At first, Despair believed that it was just a quick fling, some curiosity caused by her very nature. They were opposites and the universal rule had the realm of All beginnings and the End realm never to fraternize. It was not going to last, or so she thought. But it did.

He fell for lux, so hard that Despair realized she couldn't compete with the goddess. He was so in love with her that they spent more and more time together, raising concerns among the End Realm. Despair refused to let it happen, fearing that it might be the end of everything, so she visited Earth and went to see the keeper of secrets know how to defeat Life and Lux. Since there could only be one question asked to the elder entity, she didn't know what would the outcome be if she awoke the only entities capable of defeating the goddess of Life and her daughter.

Love is a powerful tool and there is a saying that says that love is blind. Despair was blinded by her love for Tenebrae and her jealousy of Lux. She searched for a way to defeat her nemesis and went to the Vanishing point, where creatures were banished so they could never enter either realms or Earth again. She went there, said the magic words and completed the ritual only to see she made a mistake. As they were standing before her, sitting on their horses, the three entities she summoned looked at the frightened princess who froze on spot.

They were as frightening as in the old books written by humanity. They were almost like giants standing before her and the only thing she could do was to kneel before the entities but one of them, the closest from where she stood said in a booming voice.

"Stand up my child. You summoned us to this world so your life would be spared."

"Really?"

"We have one word. It takes a lot of hatred and determination to break the spell that bounded us to the Vanishing Point so you must have a very good reason to have us back. Talk and we will grant you your wish."

"I..I..."

She should have been afraid, she knew it, but anger and jealousy flooded her veins and she couldn't help but remembered the reasons that had her leave the End Realm and search for a way to eliminate her enemy. One of the entities became impatient.

"Speak my child."

"I want to destroy Lux. I want her dead.." She didn't elaborate mostly because she knew it wouldn't matter to them. "Can you do that?"

"Who do you think we are? Of course, we can do that."

"You have in front of you, the Four horsemen of Apocalypse."

The name alone should have been enough to make her back down but instead, it fueled the princess with so much joy that she didn't refuse the hand War handed to her so she could climb on his horse as they left the Vanishing Point. She had no idea of what she had unleashed in the world and would soon enough come to regret it.. or would she?

Chronicles of the primeval gods : The gods

Ayasha

To be so close to power and so far away from it at the same time is painful to the goddess of knowledge. She would have had the world wrapped around her finger if it had not been for her sister and that pathetic creature called a Sin. She was devoured by her own ambition and her hunger for power, to the point of not seeing that neither power or domination were the solutions to her real issues. Ayasha was the unloved child of Khaos and Gaea who only found happiness in being relevant to them, useful. She longed for the love of her parents who only had eyes for their last born and now that her father was dead and her mother was in exile on Earth, she knew that she wouldn't have the recognition she longed for. Ayasha crystallized her pain on Elpis and turned it into pure hatred. She blamed everything -especially her shortcomings- on her little sister and convinced herself that killing Elpis would solve everything. It would not. It couldn't.

Pride, Pride.. when is it that you are supposed to go fight Leviathan? When is it that you are supposed to leave me for battle? I trust your strength and I trust your power. I know you will be able to win the fight and I know you will come back to me. I don't know why I am this worried, maybe it's me, maybe it's her. Did you know she had been talking to me recently? Our connection is getting stronger over time, enough for me to see her clearly in my dreams and talk to her. She is scared of losing you, I am scared of losing you to Leviathan. I know you will win, it's just... I know what's going to happen next. I will forget. I will forget and I will move on. I accepted it already, I am ready for this but before you go, could we... could we have one more night before you go? Could we spend it like the last day on Earth? Could we have it good? I want a night where I would feel like a princess, wear a beautiful gown and go out with you. I want a night just for us, without Elpis in my head, without Leviathan in yours. I want a night to celebrate us, celebrate the woman you helped me become. I am overwhelmed with so much joy when I think of what we've been through and how strong I became over the years. It's all because of her, it's all because of you. I am grateful for that. Can we have that night? Can we? Please?

Elpis x Pride
Tic Tac Tic Tac... my love, I can feel it come faster. I know it's just a matter of time before we finally meet again. Tic Tac Tic Tac... I am nervous when I think about it. Do you know why? We're not the same we used to be. I know you, I know how worse this version of you could be but am I prepared to meet you? I am not. Should I hold your hand like I used to? Should I kiss your lips like I used to? Should I scorn you when you're being stubborn or insufferable like I want to? I have many questions in my mind, racing inside, bumping against my skull as I wonder if you would welcome this new version of me. I am not as naive as I used to be, not as submissive as I used to be. I have a temper, a strong one. You made me discover it before Ishtar stabbed me with the dagger of Fate but you never got to see it full-blown. I am afraid, I have to admit it. I am afraid we no longer match like we used to. I am afraid you would hate this version of me or I would hate this version of you... no... I can't hate any versions of you. I would be angry at you, I would be upset with you but I could never hate you. How can I hate you when you're the very reason I am even alive today? How can I hate you when you're the reason I fought so hard and scratched my seal? I love you. Always and forever.

Ishtar

Ishtar, despite his confrontation with Leviathan months ago, refused to acknowledge that he was just a pawn in the sick game played by his sister. He was nothing but a piece of her chess game. Nothing more. He played a huge part in Elpis' demise and a moment of weakness both allowed her a chance to set herself free but also forced her into a painful existence. He condemned her to a never-ending cycle of reincarnation. Forcing her to be stuck inside those humans she loved so much and live thousands of lives, watching her hosts live and die. He wished his hesitation to kill Elpis would have her forgive him, should she come back to life. He wanted her forgiveness, he needed her understanding but he knew he would have neither of them because she vowed to avenge herself, should she be free again. He loved her, coveted her, despised her and felt betrayed when she fell in love with Pride, a sin, a mortal enemy. His feelings were conflicted and pushed him over the edge. Ishtar was a ticking bomb, the current All-Father whose sanity relied on the fact he still got to provoke wars and do his duty to the God of War. His sanity relied on the lies Ayasha told him to make him feel good about himself.

Leviathan

Leviathan's arrogance would be his doom. He was a powerful God – He was the master of the ocean after all- but he was too confident in his skills to actually think things through. He figured out Ayasha and Ishtar but his hubris and anger would cause him to make mistakes. Pride was underestimated because of the god, he was nothing be a pale imitation of life. He was nothing but a blow-up doll with a sword, nothing of importance. He spent his time -upon learning of the existence of Sins- mocking them, up until the time they actually destroyed the Greek pantheon. He then decided they were a threat. For him, Pride (of all sins) was getting on his way. He was the obstacle he needed to overcome in order to avenge his wounded ego. Elpis rejecting him hurt his ego, so much so that he had to teach her a lesson. He was eager to get his hands on the mortal vessel she was forced into, mostly because he heard this one looked exactly like his sister, save for a detail or two and he needed to make her pay for what Elpis did. He didn't know he was running towards his death because he assumed that Pride was no match for the god of the ocean who possessed two weapons capable of destroying him. His trident AND the Dagger of Fate.

Chronicles of the Primeval Gods : Life and Death of Leviathan : Frustration

A/ N: Leviathan is frustrated, Ayasha is frustrated, Elpis is frustrated.

Xxx

The master of the Ocean started to feel impatient. Elpis and Pride were aware of his presence on Earth and they knew he had the dagger of Fate with him, so what took them so long? He didn't mind Earth but was more at ease when he was near the ocean. With his memories back and his desire to avenge himself from the betrayal of the new All-Father Ishtar and Ayasha, he expected his fight with the sin to be a quick one. Pride wasn't as powerful as they hyped him up. He was nothing but a pale copy of a living being. He was nothing but a lie and Leviathan wanted to defeat him. Killing the sin and the rest of his worthless family would just be one more step towards greatness. Leviathan wanted the throne, he wanted to overthrow Isthar and become the new All-Father. He wanted to kill Elpis for the humiliation she was responsible for but before he would stab her with the dagger, he wanted to claim her. The god didn't take anyone but himself into consideration. He did covet Elpis, from the moment she became a young and attractive goddess to the moment she gave herself to Pride. He had wanted her. He had desired her and even today, the torment of wanting her flesh was tearing him apart.

She was powerful, he was aware of that, but he didn't know the full extent of her power -and would never know-. All he saw in Elpis was the trophy. All he saw in her was the pride he would have from flaunting her at his arm. All he saw in her was...superficial and he knew it. He wasn't interested in more. He didn't care about how she felt, what she wanted and her true desires. All he knew was that she was gorgeous and he could show to any other god just how superior to them he was. Unlike Ishtar who had actual remorses for what he did to Elpis, Leviathan wanted to finish the job. He was frustrated because nothing happened, he was stuck on Earth. Pride didn't even show up. What could he do if not walk the Earth and look at the oceans? Plot against his siblings while daydreaming about the level of power he would reach once he would defeat Ishtar? What else was left to do if not reminiscing and plotting? Not much...much to his distaste.

Ayasha was frustrated. She received the visit of the black butterfly, announcing the death of someone she knew, maybe even her own. She couldn't move her chess piece just yet and was forced to wait alongside Leviathan for Pride to show up and fight him to know what to do next. So much was at stake. If Pride succeeded in killing Leviathan, she would at least have had one less rival. Leviathan was clever, he figured her out pretty fast. He knew she was just an act and was the one pulling the strings behind Ishtar, her knight. Ishtar didn't want to be king, he didn't want to rule over the ruins of the primeval gods' pantheon. He didn't want to become the new All-Father but she pushed him. She forced him to take power and now that everything was set in motion, she had to go all the way in. Leviathan figured her out, it only added insult to injury.

It reminded of when Khrön did and pieced things together. Her ambition was her downfall. It was easy to see the trained eye. Her desire to control and possess, to rule over anything else was taking advantage of the rest. She couldn't help it, her own darkness was devouring her from within. She wanted to rule, be the absolute leader, the only deity alive but to perform such a feat, she had to play it nice and easy. Leviathan could die, but Elpis couldn't be alive. If Gaea died, Elpis would become the next All-mother and that couldn't happen. Gaea, herself, was vastly powerful so to make it happen would require a lot more finesse than demonstrated by Ayasha so far. There was time for that. Ayasha was frustrated because she had to hold back and wait. She had to pretend to be weak and gullible and soft. She had to pretend she cared for Elpis when all she wanted was to destroy her sibling. She had to wait.....

Elpis was frustrated. She had been forced into this never-ending reincarnation cycle for millennia, with little to no window to the outside world. She couldn't speak, couldn't touch, couldn't even feel the sun on her skin for so long that she forgot how it felt. She had been taken away from her lover, denied a lifetime with him, denied happiness by his side because they couldn't accept her love for someone different. She was forgotten, tossed away from the history of the world with nothing left, not even her name on the lips of people who used to know her. There was nothing left, up until she scratched that damn seal and brought her beloved close to her again. Yet, she still couldn't touch him. Her current vessel was a döppelganger, a perfect double who looked just like her but was nothing like her... well... she was like her innocent self, a version of Elpis who didn't exist anymore. She was wild and full of hope. She was full of dreams and full of love and light. She was who Elpis used to be. Now the deity was bitter and angry. She wanted to avenge herself, she was bloodthirsty.. and sad.. and frustrated.

Nothing could happen until they retrieved the dagger of Fate. Her destiny was still sealed, tied to the life of that human who just couldn't die or everything would start over. Elpis was frustrated. She was fragile and depended on the active interest of Pride. Her whole life, her future, depended on whether or not Pride cared enough for her. Fortunately, he did. He cared enough to try and set her free. He cared enough to face Leviathan who could potentially kill him, in order to bring her back. She was aware of this, of the potential sacrifice he was making for her and it frustrated her because she wanted to fight by his side. She wanted to be there for Pride. Her beloved.. the only reason she held onto life for so long.....Elpis was frustrated. Nothing could really change until Leviathan was dead. Nothing could really change until Pride fought Leviathan.

Tic Tac Tic Tac....

Chronicles of Lux and Tenebrae: The mother

A/N: Last of the last. Last main character to be presented before I kickstart the story.

xxx

Life was the most powerful being in that universe, alongside Death. They both were two sides of the same coin. She created and he destroyed and the two were supposed to keep some balance in this world. There was a golden rule that prevented Life and Death from fraternizing, despite both of them developing growing feelings for one another, it was decided best for them to focus on other people and their own realms. For Death, it became a necessity when he wanted to have an heir. He chose one of the most beautiful -living- woman to carry his child. She later died during labour and joined Elysion for the great service she gave Death but he never felt anything for her. How could he? when all he had in mind was Life? She herself, chose a mortal man, called Prince Happy, who gave her several children over the years their relationship lasted. Her last born, Lux was the only daughter she had. Her precious little girl who brought Life so much joy and pride. How could she not?

Life was the most powerful being in the universe, alongside Death. She was known for her timeless beauty. Her dark skin complexion and long black hair that was only highlighted by the white eyes of hers. Life was the warmest creature to ever exist, kind and gentle and celebrated by every living creature. She was feared, treasured, cherished for how fleeting she was and how fragile mankind was. She reigned with an iron fist on her realm, ensuring the survival of all living creatures and the respect of Time and Fate. Over the years she gave more work to her children, making them find anomalies on both Earth and in the Realm of all beginnings to ensure that no abominations could exist and disrupt the natural course of the CYCLE. Life started it all, Death ended it all and spirits joined the End realm for their final rest. It was supposed to happen that way. Of course, you'd think that Life would have avoided Death at any cost. Their old flame should have died when Time told them they couldn't be together if they wanted to avoid a major catastrophe. It didn't happen this way. Life was in love with Death and so was he but they decided to bury their feelings for the well-being of the whole universe. That was until their children met and fell in love with one another. Tenebrae was young, brash, reckless in his feelings and so was Lux. Both were aware of the golden rule and yet it didn't stop them from falling in love with one another. It was crystal clear for the two younglings that they were meant to be and the fatal attraction caused the parents to be scared of the potential repercussions of their love coming to fruition.

Locking Lux away wasn't the smartest move her mother did, but it was the result of a deeply rooted fear inside of the deity, one that refused to leave her guts and kept her awake at night. Her child couldn't fall in love with Death's child and repeat the same mistake their parents made. Fraternizing was forbidden and she knew it only was a matter of time before the children were punished for their foolish action. She expected Time to confront her but instead of him, fear, death and rotten flesh invaded the Omega realm. It never happened before but Tenebrae's birth and the romance that was born from his relationship with Lux attracted Life's enemies even faster. She should have seen it coming but it was too late. Powerless, she watched Conquest kill her daughter in front of her, and was severely injured by War. She couldn't hear them well but realized that they had been fomenting a plan to overthrow both Death and Life. They were successfully driven out by Life's last effort but it had her fall into a coma shortly after she brought her daughter back to life, with amnesia and sent her to Earth. Aware of her surroundings but unable to communicate, she couldn't tell Death that their children were in danger or give him the identity of her assailants but she knew he would investigate and would protect their heirs. He had to.

Life was the most powerful being in the universe, alongside Death and yet she got herself surprised by an attack of the three remaining apocalypse riders. She had lost two of her sons who joined Death's End realm, but three were still alive and rebuilt the Realm of all Beginnings while their mother was recovering from her assault. Lux was very capable and they knew that even without her full memories, she still was able to handle herself well. Life found solace in thinking she would make it and that Tenebrae would find her and would protect her. Until her awakening, there was way too much uncertainty for Life's liking. Nobody knew what would happen next and that was the scariest part, nobody knew.
