GoT modern : Disenchantment
A/N: Welp…. I love them so much. You can’t blame me for this :p this one is, however, rather sad but necessary. Bäahal needs to see the bad in order to appreciate the good she has with Jaime and Kyra.

Sunday, 4 pm, The Targaryen Palace.
Bäahal was sitting on one
of the garden’s benches. She took Drogon and Rhaegal out for a nice walk and
let them loose in the green. She watched from afar as they were running after
one another, barking, playing, and cuddling. She was wearing casual clothes, a
pair of black leggings and a grey sweatshirt. Her hair was tied on a messy bun
and she had her phone on her lap. Her purple eyes were scanning the screen that
was buzzing with notifications. Social media was on fire that day. Her siblings
made the headlines, as usual. Yet this time, she felt that they have been a
little more discreet than usual. There was no scandal involving Viserys, no
headlines about the « Silver Queen » Daenerys Targaryen. No, this
time, they simply spotted her siblings to very neutral places -restaurants,
theatres- and in the best company possible. For once, there was no story about
how terrible Bäahal had been this week or the latest issue she had with another
heir or heiress. For once she wasn’t even in those tabloids which had her sigh
in relief.
It wasn’t usual for her
not to have her name slandered in the press. Tabloids were there for a reason
and it was to give the mean-spirited souls a means to mock the celebrities and
feel superior. So many rumors went on about her supposed surprise pregnancy at
the hands of a random sexual partner. So many rumors went on about her supposed
homosexuality and some even said she was part of a racist cult that used her
for sexual race-play. And when rumors weren’t of a sexual nature, they speculated
about the circumstances of her birth or spoke about the traumatic childhood she
had with her step-family. Most of the
time Bäahal ignored them, especially when they brought Elia's topic back to the
spotlight. She had suffered enough at the hands of those bastards cried her
heart out, bled open until she moved on. it was very difficult to have her life
exposed like that, to see her wounds and shortcomings.
One day, a distant
relative told the press she was nicknamed « Lonely » by her late
step-mother and since then, whenever Bäahal faced some hardship, she had the
name plastered all over the news. She learned to ignore it over time, but it
still pinched her heart to read her name and the vile words attached to it. She
noticed that it hit even differently to read the headlines regarding Jaime and Kyra
Lannisters. A while ago, she wouldn’t have cared for those words. And what
about Jaime and his supposed incestuous relationship with his twin? what
about Kyra and her latest scandal involving a suitor she turned down?
what about Jaime’s supposed affair with a model she hadn’t heard about? well…today she took each headline at heart. She
didn’t like the way the media treated both Jaime and Kyra. She hated the fact
they were scrutinizing their bodies, commenting on it as if they owned it. She reviled
the false rumors about the Lannister family and the « scandals »
hidden by the mainstream media. It took a turn to the gross and the conspiracies
because people couldn’t fathom such a fortune and needed to shit on the name.
It also strangely turned into an obsession, especially when a relationship was
suspected. Bäahal hated reading those headlines when it came to Jaime.
She scrolled down the
news, relieved to see that there was nothing about a potential affair with a
model. There was, however, a big headline she read: « Interview with
the new oil tycoon Elias Sand of Dornes: his wedding, his business and
the fantastic regimen he follows for his good looks ». Elias Sand….Elias…her
ex. the tagline that was supposed to be his quote nearly gave her a heart—attack
« leaving Bäahal Targaryen was the best and worst thing I’ve ever done. »
Her heart sank deep and she put the phone away for a minute. Her eyes filled with
unshed tears and she could feel her heartbeats go faster and harder inside her
ribcage. Should she read this article? She checked again the name of the newspaper
that headlined such an article and found that it was the Westeros Times, a really
serious newspaper. Her lips trembled and she put the phone away once again. Why
was he still having such an impact on her after all those years? why was
she hurting still?
She tapped her knee with her
fingers, going faster and faster as anxiety overwhelmed her. She had to take a
look, read what he said. She had to help her heart heal from what he did to
her. Elias used to be the love of her life, the man she was going to marry, the
one she wanted to build a life with, and he destroyed everything without much of
an explanation. He just left her, screamed at her that she wasn’t worthy of his
love nor time. He managed to keep his distance from her and she was able to
heal and move on. She was able to put him behind her, rebuild her confidence,
lookout for the best and try and be happy. Jaime happened and he truly helped
her blossom into a better version of herself. She had moved on and accepted
that he had chosen a different path. She was fine with him getting married, she
was even fine with him staying at Dornes. What she wasn’t fine with, was to
still have her name attached to his. She didn’t want to be reminded of what she
lost but rather what she gained. And he had the audacity to bring her name
back?
Finally, Bäahal flipped
her phone over and started to read the article. It was everything she feared it
would be. A low blow, a punch in the guts. He had just listed all the success
he had since he broke up with Bäahal, stated that she was holding him back, and didn’t
allow him to mature enough to make his own business. He stated that he was a
far happier man since he left her and met his wife. Oh, he got married and she
was able to see the pictures of the lavish wedding they had and the smiles on
his sweet wife’s face. A Westerosi.. he married a Westerosi after he told her
that he wouldn’t and she was the only one who made him fall in love. This…this
she couldn’t take. As she silently cried, the silver-haired woman kept reading
his interview, would he say something positive about her ? would he at
least acknowledge that it was hard to part ways with her ? the more she read, the more Bäahal realized he
wasn’t going to say anything good about their relationship. He called it puppy
love. He said that she was the first person to ever love him and this love
allowed him to be ready for true love: his wife. Bäahal threw her phone
against a tree, smashing the screen as she slid her finger into her hair and
started to scream and cry harder. What an asshole! what a terrible cunt!
how could he say something like this? why was he lying? why was he
lying ??????? why was he right ???
