Modern JB: Sweet Frustration
// I love them, okay?!
There was both a frustration
and a pleasant danger at keeping her relationships secret. Nobody could know
that she was seeing Jaime Lannister and was Kyra’s best friend. Nobody could
know that they got along well because their
families would never allow their relationships to happen. Aerys II «The Mad
Dragon King » Targaryen might have been dead, but his legacy was alive and
well in the form of his children. Daenerys would make sure that his will wasn’t
betrayed by any of her family members, hence her tight surveillance of both
Viserys and Bäahal. Viserys hated Jaime and was notoriously bickering with
Cersei Lannister, so how could he approve of her relationships to both Jaime
and Kyra? She felt on a tight
spot, unable to share the news of her most recent joys with her family and
perhaps begin to truly bond with them. It wasn’t just family, however. The
whole world was watching and since tabloids and other families loved a good
scandal and gossip, they also were on the look-out ! she could tell by the
amounts of articles about Jaime and his supposed relationships with models,
actresses, and even the worst assumptions -Cersei-. She knew they would never
leave them alone and would chew them until nothing would be left of them. It
happened to her when she was dating that Dornish heir. They raised the couple
up, made sure the whole world knew their names and when Elias broke up with her,
they made sure to harass the 8th wonder of the world.
That was dreadful and
scary. To be unable to escape the scrutiny of the press and give them what they
wanted -to drink her tears, to bask in her distress, and to traumatize her some
more by telling her about her ex-fiance-. It took some time for the heiress to
recover from her breakup and the media circus. It took some time, and unfortunately
her sister’s invasive presence to eventually start to move forward. She couldn’t
even begin to imagine how the press would react if they ever knew about Jaime. She
could imagine the titles already, lambasting her because she wouldn’t be good
enough for the Golden Lion, or maybe too young or too crass for him. she could
see the headlines attacking her character, trying to destroy her reputation or to
the contrary, fan the flames of destruction to her own family. She’d become
known as the traitor, the one who couldn’t keep it to her pocket and who betrayed
her family long feud with the Lannisters. Either way, it wouldn’t look good. Besides, one of the downsides of the whole
situation was to watch or learn (through reading or gossips) about a potential
love interest and being unable to say anything about it. She had experienced already
the ramifications of such a situation when Bronn decided to tell Jaime how much
he wanted to fuck Bäahal and how he was going to do that.
Yet, somehow, Bäahal was
able to find something positive about this. The fact that she had something
just for herself, protected from external vultures felt actually good. She started
to think that maybe, just maybe, she would be able to build something solid
without someone’s intervention. She loved to go incognito to their secret lair
and spend time with him. She loved those secret encounters, perhaps because it
had a kinky spin to it. Something about forbidden love with an older man or
some Romeo and Juliet type of situation -yes, it could totally be a Romeo and
Juliet story, with twists-. It had its perks, especially when she was sending
him texts that would make a religious nun blush hard. It was fun to know she
could send him enticing pictures when he was working just so he would have a
hard time focusing on his work. She loved to know that she gave him marks,
usually very visible marks on his neck -hiccups, bites, scratches- that would
give a field day to tabloids and the likes. She thought it was arousing,
actually, to be the only person who was with Jaime and yet have the world
imagine he slept with countless women. She found joy and excitement in this but
also it comforted her in knowing that she was true to him. she was only seeing
him and wanted to be his and his only. She knew she was feeling something for
Jaime, something far more than just friendship and somehow, it made her happy
because she knew she had fully moved on from Elias and was ready to give her heart
to someone else. She was still able to love and she was still able to find joy
in this world. How could she not like it, then? So when a model -who also was an heiress-
started to gush about Jaime Lannister to her and speculate about his potential
date, Bäahal smiled internally, knowing that it was her work that was being
discussed.
