A Little self-indulgent Nixus domestic bliss scene :3
Marc quietly closed his apartment door behind him. He came back from his shift early that evening and found Phoenix in the living room, a pile of copies beside her. She had been working all day long and was just now taking a break. She leaned into her chair and pinched the bridge of her nose. Obviously, she heard the noise from the door and knew that Marc was home. She turned her head towards Marc and welcomed him with her scrunched-up smile. Her face lit up, and she stretched her arms up.
"Good evening, mon coeur. You came at the right time."
She grinned and closed her eyes when Marc closed the distance between them and wrapped his arms around her shoulders from behind. He gave her a hug, and she gently put her hands on his arms. She closed her eyes and gently stroked the skin of his arms.
"Good evening, gorgeous. Let me steal you from your work and come over." - He grinned, and she stood up. Her arms wrapped around his shoulders, and she pressed her lips to his in a soft but firm kiss. Marc wrapped his arms around her waist and leaned her forehead against his.- " I have been looking forward to seeing you tonight."
"Rough day?" -She asked, chin up to look into his. Marc nodded. He looked exhausted, but she did not worry about it because Marc seemed to be the same as usual. He was simply tired from having a long day. She cupped his cheeks with both hands and gave him a warm smile. "Then we will make sure to help you unwind tonight. Any way necessary." She winked at him and pressed another soft kiss on his lips. Marc held her tighter against his frame, enjoying the kiss and trying to make it linger a little longer.-
"It sounds like a plan. I ate on my way home."
Because it was a long day, he went with the guys at the cop bar down the street. It was their habit to go to bars, eat some nachos, and drink some beer while they found ways to wash away the day before going home. He did not want to bring the day to Phoenix's door, so Marc did as he had always done. She could smell the beer and the cigarette smoke on his hair. The teacher simply nodded and then dropped her hand to grab his and walk him towards the couch.
"I can hardly call that dinner. I'll fix you a plate of what I cooked today, and you, Officer Flynn, will relax on the couch. You may turn on the TV and put on some sports."
"Yes, ma'am!" -He agreed in a bemused yet enthusiastic tone-
He felt lucky, in a way he could not articulate. Phoenix was not like most women he'd tried to date before. She did not make a scene when he came home late. She did not berate him when he went to the bar with his colleagues. She understood his job and what it entailed. She also understood when he did not want to share what happened to him. She did not need to know unless she felt she had to. She was simply happy to see him at home and cuddle him to her heart's content. He sat on the couch, exhausted but relieved he wouldn't need to leave anytime soon. She would fix him a plate of whatever she had made that day, and he would be able to catch up with his game for a couple of hours, with her sitting next to him and watching the game or reading.
He did not mind when she read because he understood that she might not be in the mood to watch a game, but at least she was reading next to him. She fixed him a delicious food tray, complete with fresh water since he had had a lot of beer earlier, and a slice of homemade pie. She sat at the corner of the couch, with a duvet wrapped around her and a cup of hot cocoa in hand. She had decided to follow the game with him, and Marc could not have been happier. Phoenix thought the same. She loved the quietness of the evening. She loved how close to each other they were and how comfortable in the silence they both seemed to be. Was it what they called building a life for oneself? She did not know for sure, but she was certain of one thing. She did not want it to end. She was happy. She was more than happy; she was alive.
