A vintage's touch: "When he wasn't there."

There were mornings when Mary would wake up and Tommy wasn’t there. He was an early bird and she was lucky if they could spend some time upon waking up.

There were mornings when she would feel upset and lonely.  She understood he was busy. She understood he was a distant man so she wasn’t upset at him. She was upset at herself for feeling the need for his presence in the room and if there were arms wrapped around her frame.  It was a morning like this. She was feeling needy and lonely and spent the morning smelling Tommy’s outfits. They kept his smell, which made her feel as if he was still there with her.
